It seems really easy to just go play college sports if you're not picky about where you end up. I'm bald and fat and gray, so it probably wouldn't work for me. But if Ron McKelvey and all of these SFA kids can get away with it...
Wow! A clerical error. Really? What a lame excuse! I suspect someone was cooking the books and got caught. The AD, someone or somebodies will lose a job(s) over this. Level 1 punishment is pretty harsh. Yes, this is an embarrassment not only to the name of the Father of Texas and but also to me as a graduate of SFASU.
Interesting top 25 here Top 25 NCAA coaches, according to USA Today... (Before you look, guess where Jimbo Fisher, Tom Herman, Ed Orgeron, your personal coaches of interest, and various Big12 coaches fall) top Power Five college football coaches
so you're saying there is a chance ... Texas given 2% chance to make it in College Football Playoff scenario
I was thinking Herman would be around 19, 20 but he's not even in the top 25 (28). But I can't argue that either. Hmm this is interesting and telling. We kinda rushed into hiring him but he seemed like a good fit. I was all for the hire. We were a fast sinking ship at the time. We've bailed out some water since then but we still have a ways to go. Like someone pointed out Herman's decisions has cost us a handful of games so I would give him about a 4 on a scale of ten. That's disappointing. I think his pride has gotten in the way sometimes. But I guess he's changing for the better IMO. We'll see what happens.
"The Sheriff" Stanley Richard!! Thank you Cotton Speyer even though you have no idea how big a part you played in this.
The story of these athletes' classroom success is what makes me proud to be a Longhorn. Congrats, fellas. Hook 'em!!
This hits close to home for me. I was on the 20 year plan for a degree and made it out early, only 19 years after I graduated from HS.
Need a little sunshine pumped your way? Can Yurcich take the Texas offense to a 500+ YPG avg for the season?
Article naming Kerstetter as nation's top returning right tackle...and questioning a rumored move to center... Derek Kerstetter is the nation’s top returning pass blocker at RT
I don't think he has a future as a RT in the NFL. Switching to C proves that he can hold his own on the interior... something that Connor Williams has struggled to do even though 99% of scouts would have considered him a better draft prospect than Kerstetter. Plus, with losing Braun, it helps shift some of the responsibility from Cosmi and lets him focus more on the assignment rather than worrying about the interior as well. I actually believe we'll be better at LG next year, as Braun played assignment-based option work at GT before arriving and never quite mastered the zone blocking.
I do like an uptempo, fast offense, most of the time. It puts pressure on the defense. Plus we have players that can play multiple positions, receiver and rb so that we don't give away what we are intending to do. This aggravated me to no end when we would substitute players and this would signal the defense what we were going to do. Grrrrrr I almost want to cuss. No better not. Anyway, if we are moving fast, and players are interchanging positions this will keep the defense guessing and on their heals, I like it.
So it seems, more and more, that we are going to have a season even a full season. Do ya'll think the same. I wasn't expecting it but am happy about it, especially because I think we are going to do well.
Gov. Greg Abbott says Texas is aiming to start college football on time, with fans in stands The state is still working out a few issues, Abbott said Friday, but he predicted the season will return as scheduled, with at least some fans allowed to attend.
With so few people in the stands how can a university make a profit or even pay all the expenses for having a game. I suppose tv revenue would help.
Texas athletics finished last year at about 40% net earnings, so football tickets/concessions at 25% capacity would still make up for a massive difference for the nonrevenue sports. Things like swimming, tennis, golf, etc.
