I loved it. Really brought back memories as I loved MJ. I had no idea what it meant when they used to say he "elevated the team". Man he would be a downright *** to get players to play/work harder. It finally dawned on me why I no longer watch the NBA after seeing episode 10. The year after my second favorite player retired (Larry Bird was already gone) the NBA had a strike. I always thought it was just the strike, but with all of my favorite players gone and a fight between millionaires and billionaires I soured on the sport. Great series though!!
Watched most of one episode. Huge ego, no respect for anything but he was a great ball player and he won a lot. Next they should do the same for other similar greats like Mike Tyson or Roger These guys are right up there with Jonas Salk in terms of men of merit
There's so much that people really want to know about MJ that just wasn't covered in the miniseries. He's obviously not going to grant that kind of access. He flat-out lied about getting Isiah Thomas off the dream team and his rift with Horace Grant leaking things to authors when he was doing it himself. But what I really want to know is all the backroom **** that made him leave basketball for a year and a half. I doubt any of that will ever be made public, or if it is, it'll be when he's dead or something. The two guys that killed his dad couldn't have possibly pulled it off without tips or help. I think MJ was in deep **** with the mob/bookies and the NBA made him "go away" for a while, but with David Stern being dead and all, there's really no digging that'll find anything about the situation.
If MJ doesn't want it known the NBA will never leak it out. I suspect whatever went on there were only a select few who knew so the secret will die with them. The NBA will never allow MJ's rep to be tarnished.
you guys don't think his reputation is tarnished by this documentary? He comes across as a complete ahole
I'd like to think everyone already knew that. But there's way, way worse stuff on him that the documentarians were willing to let slide because it's either too soon or no one was willing to corroborate because they know the wrath of MJ. The way he threw his 1985 teammates under the bus with the hookers and blow in the hotel room is the tip of the iceberg. I think they know stuff that HE did, but because he's MJ and can come after them in ways that others went after his dad, he's just an ******* and not some mob boss to be feared. His 147-game absence is the most suspicious, and least suspicious, suspension of all time.
Perhaps it is because I am 2 years younger than MJ and got to enjoy his play or maybe because I have yet to finish the series. However, I think he came across as a winner just like Magic and Larry. I did not think he came across as a complete ahole. He hated his opponents, but everyone in those days did and I think you should hate your opponents.
He still hates them though. He's not playing against them any longer. He still calls Patrick Ewing and Isiah Thomas "*******." The Eastern Conference was full of hate. The West kind of mellowed out after the Washington/Tomjanovich fight, and when people put Kurt Rambis in his place, but it got way worse with the Celtics/Pistons and MJ wanted to be that. Or at least surround himself with enforcers.
