Yes, positive....HOWEVER, their power grab is going to bite them in the butt for YEARS to come...YEARS!!!
I have almost 50 years association with UT...
NEVER did I ever witness a minstrill show or know THE EYES was ONE NIGHT 117 years ago...and for kids that just stepped foot on campus telling me I should be shamed because of the RACIST undertones is as TOTALLY OBSURD AS THE LEADERS OF BLM COMING TO GET ALL YOUR HOMES TO GIVE THEM TO BLACK PEOPLE...AND ALL WHITE PEOPLE ARE TO WILL THEIR HOMES TO BLACK PEOPLE....COMPLETE AND TOTAL OBSURD INSANITY...
AND NOW, "TEXAS, you can SAVE FACE BY GIVING US THIS"
AND ACHO saying "NO BLACK PLAYERS WANTED TO SING THAT SONG...WE WERE FORCED TO"...
WELL, I am totally fine with going 0-12 until we can find those that are PROUD to be a LONGHORN....

But...But....But...its so much easier to make excuses and if its all GIVEN to them. not all blacks/minorities feel this way, but MANY do.

    Chin,

I understand what you are saying, and submit to you that at least they consider with some affiliation with the school, unlike Fenves, who put together a group of narrow minded people that have noting but contempt and have never sat in a classroom on campus, BUT they support his selfish wants and Cali-prune-ya liberal biases.

That said, Jay & Chris have, are, and continue to reach out to alums and supporters for input and their opinions, while giving positive reassurances.

Chin, went through the ring baloney myself. When young son graduated, he wanted to have one like mine. Texas Exes said they don’t sell that ring anymore. I found the company that had the mold, but was told they couldn’t make it because the Texas Exes controlled and would only permit the Exes design. They also said if I obtained approval from the Exes, they would make the ring. I thought, no problem. I then started a three week dog and pony show with the Exes, being told NO at each bureaucratic level. When I made my way up to the Exes president, he wrote a letter to allow the exception. He also didn’t seem to understand why the bureaucrats made it a big deal.

Thinking ahead, if they make a Julius Whittaker section who sits in the section?
Will it just be just be regular stadium seating or something else?

It’s either a general section for admission purposes or, if Babers gets his wish, a section for the band. That’s what I would think.

The team parents & the visiting recruits and their families sit on the east side around section 27/28. I think that would be an appropriate section - families of present and future Longhorns might send a positive signal.

I have a better idea. Put a statue of Whitaker right by the tunnel exit so when the players run out onto the field they go right by him. Or name the new south end zone the Julius Whittaker South Endzone. Or name the tunnel after him.

Babers suggested it be the LH Band section so that when they play "The Eyes" the fans and players would be looking toward the proposed "julius Whittier Section"

    MC,

I was brought in by seven tribes (I think that's the number) in the northwestern US to consult on a business deal, which if made, would pay me handsomely, but even more to my grandchildren.

The tribal attorney picked me up and drove me to the meeting. My opening statement was, "My grandmother was full blood Cherokee. No member of my family is hyphenated. If that offends you. take me back to the airport. If not, let's talk business." Spent three days there.

    Does anyone listen to Acho?
He reminds me of Michael Irvin...
    I cringe when he speaks.

If we are talking about Manny Acho, yes, people do. I know several white people on Facebook who have posted his stuff. Not exactly "woke" liberals either.

Without clicking on the link what exactly does Matthew need to do better? Does he admit to having racist or discriminatory tendencies that he somehow needs to correct? Or is he just pandering because it's the thing to do right now if you are a celebrity?

It would be quite the conundrum for the average non-movie star non-woke type of person.

Maybe he should give up being on the sidelines and speaking to the team. He has obviously helped create the unjust atmosphere.

You know I give Liam Neeson a ton of credit for coming out a couple of years ago and admitting that as a young man he went out looking for a Black person to beat the crap out of after one of his family members had been assaulted by a Black man. He says he was wrong to have that reaction but he had the guts to say what he did and I actually respect him more for it.

That is a good thing. But, I just think MM is pandering.

Which is odd since, seemingly, all the players like having him around as a famous rep.

I told you guys about the history of my family. Rachael Parker Plummer was 5 years a slave to the Comanches where she had to watch them bash her new born baby to death because he was getting in the way of her doing her work. Her first born son was also captured by them and killed.

Maybe I should make a movie called 5 years a slave.

Thx. Good to know. I am a fan of Chris and think he might be the best hire the school has made in a very long time. It’s time I stop bitching and reach out to him. It will make me feel beter.

Many white kids grow up in poverty, with abusive parents or with absent parents, or indifferent parents in desolate neighborhoods (whether rural or otherwise). To say these folks have privilege is an abomination. Further, white folks face discrimination too. UT has gone to the SCOTUS twice because of their racist admission policy. Job discrimination against whites in corporate America is rampant. Yelling white privilege is akin to focusing on a single variable in a multi-variable world, but the yeller wants 100% control of the conversation.

Acho is a sanctimonious A-Hole! His St. Marks education Lords over we peasants!
If you didn’t know that, don’t worry, he’ll remind you every chance he is given.

    TOOL!

Every southern state's article of secession mentions slavery as a reason for secession.
