Reminds me of history repeating it’s self.

This is 1972 minus the break in.

Now Dammit duke, there you go quoting facts again. You know that's not fair. It's racist and abusive to the liberal thought process.

I was too young to know what was going on a that time, but apparently we got back on track. I'm just not sure this time when half of the people in the country think a pull handle is racist and get offended, and think adversity is when your salon appt. gets canceled.

To be quite honest, we need another great depression so people know what real adversity is and get back focused on the things that really matter.

And of course duke offered you the chance to present a MSM equivalent and you can't. All you can do is call them opinions, lies, racism, call them names, call them stupid. That's all you can do for anything you don't like and it does nothing but prove what you are. That's all the liberals will ever do as they don't even have the analytical skills to grasp the true facts. It's simply over their head, which is why they're liberals in the first place.

If by some miracle Trump wins a second term I do not see how he can survive it. After the first four years I cannot imagine any worse treatment but I am certain if will come. Frankly I do not know how he has managed to not give up the ship already. It’s going to be an embarrassing look back by historians 39 years from now. I mean Pelosi actually doubled down on her “republicans murdered Floyd comment”. Things are out of any reasonable sense of control.

If the Democrats get power everyone, including blacks, will know what real adversity is. Every American is gonna be ******. Once we hit rock bottom the Chinese will take over and we will be living our lives FOR THE GOVERNMENT. Disrespecting THAT flag will be a death sentence. You won't have to worry about tear gas at protests. Those will be met with deadly force. If Republicans lose power..its coming !!!! For you idiots who say," That would never happen." Ask the people of Venezuela. Ask the Germans and Jews......They didn't think it would happen either. Better wake up America !!!! A nightmare is coming if we don't stop it !!!!!!!!

    Everything he said was true.

Cavuto regularly disagrees with Trump. Juan Williams ALWAYS disagrees with Trump and Tucker says whatever the heck he wants, both for and against Trump.

Which host on CNN or MSNBC ever agrees with Trump on anything?

I don't think it will be the Chinese, I think the Muslims are going to horn their way in. They are making inroads in policing Minneapolis and New York. Political correctness is their ticket and wait till Democrats get in the office. Ten years from now we will have to live with Sharia law. Freedom of speech and openly worshipping God as a Christian will be gone. We will dream of the good old days.:facepalm::facepalm::ousucks:

And!!! ‘On the Field’ is about Sharia law, Nixon, Trump, MSM vs. Fox News (that’s the only thing about competition on here. This whole web-site has lost touch with purpose. Chief Justice Byron White, responding to a question about why he read the Sports page, said “I would rather read about man’s successes than his failures”. Come on people,,, this is the SPORTS section. There are enough Main Malls and Cactus Cafes. Everything needn’t necessarily be about politics!

I'm not here to defend any news organization.
I don't watch any of them.
I try my best to get news from the Associated Press and Reuters.
    I don't think there's a news outlet worth watching in today's world.
The point I was trying to make is that everything you spout about Liberals is the same thing I hear Liberals spouting about Conservatives.
In your quote above just replace the word Liberal with Conservative and you have the liberal view point.
Liberals are a bunch of mentally deficient Socialists.
Conservatives are a bunch of neo-nazi fascists.
Actually we are all Americans trying to make a living and live our lives.
    We all love our country.
Sure, we have different views on what direction the country goes.
I don't want the far left running things any more than the far right.
None of us will ever get everything we want.
But if we don't find a way to stop flinging hate at each other and start communicating then things will get worse.
I don't know you and have not called you racist or accused you of lies. Nor did I of Dukesteer.
Just saying there is no way to ascertain in a factual manner whether one news outlet is more balanced than another.
In your "opinion" it is FOX.
I'm sure a regular viewer of CNN or MSNBC would have a different "opinion".

    I agree.
I never visit West Mall because I really don't want to get political.
I've tried to pull myself out of this thread but keep getting pulled back.
    I shall try to resist.

You obviously didn't watch CNN during its 2016 election coverage, when McEnany and Gergen were asked to comment on every issue that led to Trump's election. Juan Williams serves the same role at Fox. Much like the NYT, the liberal outlets "both sides" everything in a thinly veiled attempt to seem like they're giving the whole story, when in reality they're creating conflict ratings.

Would objective analysis be considered positive coverage? If you hedge the numbers from the Kennedy School and assume all news outlets are equal, it would still come out to a negative net, right? What, exactly, is nonobjective about that? Maybe Trump has done an objectively poor job.

The main "offender" from this past week was Hannity's interview of Trump, in which he asked what Trump's goals were for a second term and the president responded with some nonsensical rant about sleeping in DC a total of 17 times before he became president. When Chris Hayes posted a transcript of Trump's own words, one of the campaign surrogates blasted MSNBC for having negative coverage. So where should objectivity live? In the minds of the campaign staffers and those who wish the president would just do a good job? This leads to people who support the president seeking outlets who support their confirmation biases, which will tend further and further to the right, to the point of believing that InfoWars, Breitbart, and OAN are the only bastions of "objectivity" when in reality they're spinning way harder for the president than any liberal MSM ever did for Obama, Clinton, or the other Clinton.

I get a sense from this board that the objectivity lives in the pre-Covid economic indicators, which is fine. My best "numbers" years were during GWB until the recession, so I get it. I just think there are other factors people can consider "objective" when it comes to positive/negative coverage.

With respect to the Oregon-Oregon State Civil War, has anyone else begun to feel triggered by the term "Shootout"? And "Red" River is starting to push offensive speech boundaries as well. I don't know but what we should be we should be thinking of renaming our annual OU game something to something catchy like "The Big Inter-State Football Event". Just a thought. Trying to get ahead of the controversy.

Comparing a football rivalry to perhaps the most significant event in american history has always struck me as weak. This one doesn't bother me.

Juan Williams is a co-host 5 days a week. Cavuto is a host 5 days a week. Chris Wallace is a weekly host and until recent Shepherd Smith was a daily host.

Who on CNN or MSNBC is a daily cohost or host that slams the Democrats and promotes Trump EVERY SINGLE DAY?

On the Field is my favorite sports section on this forum and where I go to read about all things Longhorn Football. Due to CV19 limiting the summer activities there is less about Longhorn Football to discuss.

So now the subject is fairness in the MSM which is surely a West Mall subject if there is one but it is here.

FNC, MSNBC and CNN are entertainment forums for the audience that chooses to watch the content they offer.

In May the avg total audience was
    FNC 3,447K
    MSNBC 1,923K
    CNN 1,652K
    --------------
    Total 7M+/- avg total audience

One could add in OAN to the numbers but doesnt significantly change the results FNC +OAN = MSNBC + CNN on an avg total audiuence.

In a country of 325M people, less than 7M or 2% choose either the conservative or liberal options available.

For political junkies, every tweet, video, report is an outrage that reinforces their ideological choice and is available 24/7 to report the coming end of America as we know it.

98% of the population is not listening and chooses not to.

Can we move the cable news and politics to West Mall channel and leave the sports to On the Field?

    Hook'em Horns!

I don't know why it wasn't moved to WM a long time ago. Eagles in political stunts has nothing to do with FB.

Yes, sorry I missed this, it should have been moved to WM a while back.
I don’t get a chance to read every thread and every post so if anyone sees something that should be in another forum, please just hit the Report button below the post and let me know about it. Thanks.

It wasn’t initially requested to be moved because the topic was of interest to a lot of folks who typically avoid West Mall. For the most part, the debate was polite and controlled given the explosiveness of the issue. In short, posters wanted this debate. Over time, with a lack of news on the players protest, the thread has devolved into a typical WM thread. I am surprised it lasted this long On the Field without it being reported. Well done everyone.
