I'd rather see the game canceled. I'm almost at the point of not watching this season even if it does happen.

    But, canceling the Fair. Wow.

Walt Disney World opens this weekend (with masks). However, the State Fair of Texas is canceled three months out. Tis a strange world we live in....

This is what drives me crazy about the mask rule. Even if we are willing and/or required to wear one, they still won't let us congregate. I thought masks were the secret sauce!

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

Local economy in Dallas area will lose > $400 MM from NO fair. First time no state fair since WW II.

I suspect ol' Clay Jenkins - Dallas County Judge had a great deal to do with killing the event.

I also suspect & fear the RRR will eventually be canceled... very possibly along with the entire college football season.

    Strange & grim times folks.....

    Current numbers for Texas:

    8.75% of total US population

    6% of US positive tests

    2% of US deaths

Clay trying to climb political latter and HE WILL FAIL!

Maybe he will fall for the phone call, “your number has been selected to receive a five day stay in one of our five star resorts”.

We will throw in a companion fare for Dora the Explorer in Harris County.

Clay Jenkins has done an outstanding job considering state leadership jerked the rug out from under him at every turn early on.
Recently I was heartened to see Gov. Abbott demonstrate some awareness of the seriousness of this medical crisis, and make efforts to slow the spread.

Reopening too soon (while ignoring CDC guidelines for opening ) and Texans who party-party-party and refuse to wear masks killed the Texas Stare Fair.

Talk to a few medical professionals working shifts in DFW, Harris Co., or San Antonio hospitals and you might understand where the decision to close the State Fair closing is coming from.
No one is happy with the State Fair being the latest victim of poor national and state management of a world wide pandemic where the USA leads in # of cases and deaths.

From the Dallas County Public Health Dept today:
As of July 7, 2020 Dallas County Health and Human Services is reporting 1,077new casesof COVID-19, bringing the total case count in Dallas County to 28,131, with 410 total deaths to date*.An increasing proportion of COVID-19 cases in Dallas County are being diagnosed in young adults between 18 to 39 years of age, such that of all cases reported after June 1st, half have been in this age group. Increasing reports of cases are continuing to be associated with multiple large recreational and social gatherings since the beginning of June, including house parties. Of the cases requiring hospitalization to date, more than two-thirds have been under 65 years of age.

Actually took the numbers from the Star-Telegram & used my old HP12C

Maybe I am not following the narrative... but I think stupid protestors out shouting and spitting on people have definitely increased the spread rate. But we are talking about a few thousand people across the state. There are literally hundreds of thousands of people across the state who nightly were cramming into bars and restaurants last month when things opened back up. Maybe I am drinking the leftist KoolAid but I sent my 13 year old to church camp this week crammed into a camp with 300 other kids and am 2nd guessing my choice as a dad. I have tickets to the Kentucky Derby Labor Day weekend and am having 2nd thoughts of how safe I feel at a sporting event with possibly well over 100k people. Any honestly, while I enjoy my annual TX-OU tradition of getting lit on the way to the fair as my buddy drives us there and then staying that way through the game and then walking out of the Cotton Bowl elbows to A-holes doesn't get me quite as revved up as previous years.

So laugh at me and Cary, but I'll buy into the stats for now.

Agreed. I watch him on the Channel 8 News and my first thought is that he is a puppet and Nancy Pelosi is puling the strings.

If the fair is cancelled, that means the fans have Fletchers all to itself. In fact I propose a corny dog is delivered to every filled seat into the stadium.

The beauty of it is just what you said. You can weigh the risks and decide. People aren't dropping dead like flies from this. If you want to stay home, that is understandable. If others want to go to the Fair, that's understandable as well.

SabreHorn, Look at the bright side. We don't have to fight traffic. We get good parking spots. We don't have to arrive early. Since blow/u knows that they suck this year and their vacation is ruined the Cotton Bowl will be mostly Texas. On the other hand, I am not sure if I can take much more of the players demands so I just may not watch the game or go to it. I have been to about 30 TX/blow/u games. Always enjoyed the fair if it was not raining.

I don’t think it’s an all or nothing proposition. My sense is that we got into trouble going from zero, to 50, to near full throttle. Full throttle, I.e. the bars, etc., is the issue.

If — hopefully — we get this spike under better control, people may have a reawakening and realize that the risks are real, and that protection (masks) and social distancing do make a difference. Having people in close proximity for a period of time is a prescription for disaster. It’s a viral load issue. Manage the exposure and the risk is greatly reduced.

I would like to see Trump proactively and aggressively endorse the use of masks. The issue was badly mishandled by the CDC, the SG & Fauci; they created the ambiguity. Now it’s time for Trump to push the issue although sadly, but predictably, if he does the MSM will crucify him.

We are living in some very sick times.

You are in charge of corndogs; I'll go by the assisted living center and get Momma to do me a funnel cake, talk to Glenn & Sherry about my sausage on a stick. It would be great if someone on HornFans would take care of the Belgium waffle.
