Gorney speaks the truth about being able to keep some of the top talent in state!! If you cannot do that you better be damn good at developing and so far we have not accomplished that. As stated numerous times, we are light years ahead of when Charlie was here and am very optimistic about the OC.

Did we lose Carrington aka the closer??? Seems like its been a while since I saw something about him and he was a difference maker in the past. Would not have helped with the Brock twins as that was a business decision but one of these RB's and perhaps 1-2 OL would be nice. How in the F@#$*&y are we duped/competing with smu and baylor. Really?? I like both coaches but this is apples to peas. Not where Texas should be competing. Bama, Clemson, OU, Georgia but smu, baylor, rice. Whats next, Sam Houston ??

He was a # 1 pick (Charlotte). Was a starter for years. Had severe injuries/surgeries which limited his career. Even so,I think he was in the league nearly 10 years.

That being said, what is the relevance of your post?

That is your opinion, which is "IRRELLEVANT" to Longhorn fans who remember his contributions to The University of Texas seasons and program.

Anyone who gets paid for 10 years in the NFL is relevant and being a UT grad is just a cherry on top.

Some writer at The Athletic trying to figure out Texas recruiting
It almost reads like one of my posts here (except i dont agree with him on Cody Jackson or Latrell McCutchin)
How is Texas looking in the 2021 cycle? — Zachariah F.

I have a really hard time figuring out Texas sometimes because on the surface it looks as though the Longhorns’ class is in good shape and headed for more success. But on the other hand, I feel like there are a lot of missed opportunities. For instance: The Brockermeyer brothers, who just committed to Alabama, are Texas legacy recruits who spurned the in-state school in favor of the out-of-state powerhouse. And as things stand right now, the top three players in the state of Texas are going elsewhere: Brockermeyer is going to Alabama, five-star running back Camar Wheaton of Garland Lakeview Centennial is a heavy lean to Oklahoma, and five-star offensive guard Donovan Jackson of Bellaire Episcopal in the Houston area is headed to Ohio State.

Yes, Texas has commitments from five-star athlete Ja’Tavion Sanders and four-star athlete Billy Bowman — teammates at Denton Ryan High who are both top 35 players nationally. And yes, Texas is basically its own country in terms of size, and it’s harder to keep kids home from a geographical standpoint than it is in other, smaller states such as Ohio or Georgia. But for as good as Tom Herman has been at accumulating talent — and he has been, given the Longhorns were No. 4 in college football last year in the Blue-Chip Ratio — it just doesn’t seem like Texas has truly maximized its potential.

Texas’ 2021 class right now ranks No. 11 nationally and No. 1 in the Big 12. Who is going to criticize that? Not me.

However, sometimes I like to think about what could have been, and Texas, which I always think is on the verge of breaking out on the field, has the resources and the ability to be in the conversation with Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and now LSU for best program in America.

Instead, Oklahoma has won five straight Big 12 titles and is the king of that conference, doing so by taking elite-level talent like Wheaton (soon) and four-star wide receiver Cody Jackson of Richmond (Texas) Foster, four-star weakside defensive end Clayton Smith of Texarkana Texas High and four-star cornerback Latrell McCutchin of Austin (Texas) LBJ, whose high school is miles away from the Longhorns’ campus.

Texas’ class is fine. It will likely finish in the top 10. But could it have finished in the top five

If you read the above and saw the part about Wheaton, perhaps this is related -- Carrington and Yurcich both just started following this 2021 RB - he is 200 lbs and runs a 10.9 100

    From Roach --
I spoke briefly with Jacksonville (Fla.) Bishop Kenny offensive lineman Michael Myslinski yesterday. He indicated that a decision will come soon and could be in the next two weeks. Myslinski told me that Texas was set to meet with him today via a zoom call. Iowa, Maryland and Florida State are the other schools factoring in here, but there is some confidence on the Texas side. Myslinski is close with Herb Hand and their families are old friends. We will see how Texas pans out down the stretch.

It sounds like we will wait to see what happens here before offering C Ezra Dotson-Oyetade of Garland Lakeview Centennial

Some details -- he and his dad are driving around Austin
They can only drive through campus and can’t go inside any buildings.

Here is yet another possible at OT
He is a tad undersized at the moment (he says he is up to 266 now), however, if you take the time to watch his film you will see that he is more flexible and moves better than any of our other OL targets

This by Kendrick Blackshirhe's mom. I dont think we pursued him that hard. He is not really built to be a LB in the B12, IMO. And as a probable spindown candidate for the DL, there were other DLs we liked better. He might be that for Alabama too, at least vs. the Leach offense

"Well as the parent of Kendrick. Staying in Texas would have been great but the recruiting process in Texas lags. They do not communicate well. Coaches change. We were not impressed with the structure. We did talk to a lot of the players kids talk. That’s a big impact on a lot of the recruiting. They wait to late to show real interest especially when you dealing with multiple schools communicating all the time. Slow with relationship building. the development at a lot of the out of state school is much better in my opinion. And yes my son wants to go to the league so we decided to put him with one of the best defensive mind coaches".

It seems most of us agree with him. It feels like TH is missing on 3-4 top players each year that would put the program over the top. One area TH has not received enough credit on is reeling in grad transfers in positions of serious need.

He facetimed with Yurch and Boulware for some of it.
Wells says he's down to Wisconsin, Iowa, and Texas (assume that means tOSU is out)
Should be news "in the next week or so".

Been saying this for awhile, Sabre...and no one likes it.
I've got problems with our fanbase and think they/we are definitely part of the problem. Tried talking about back a couple years ago and got crushed...yet I know it is true.

The biggest problem the fan base has is they don't want to admit we need to be like the SEC teams if we are going to compete with them. I'm talking about bending the rules. There is a reason we lose kids to other schools like LSU and Mississippi and we all know what it is. Now that kids can get paid, it's time to open up the purse strings and just outbid everyone.

With that said. I know this isn't want you were talking about. Keep this in mind, the Texas fanbase is no better and no worse than any other fanbases. Okay there are some worse fans than us, but we are all in the same boat. All I know is at the end of the day, I'd rather be around Texas fans than Ohio State fans, or LSU fans or Bama fans. I especially don't want to be around aggy.

    That is a serious problem
And it helps explain why we (meaning the entire UT System) support the idea of paying players openly
Not many schools would be able to compete with us at that
The whole thing makes me queasy but it's where we find ourselves
