    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

Even in my current state of football discontent, "Roll left" still gets me fired up!

But realize...we just saw this when workouts and check ins occured around the country...What was the outcome?
Nothing. One lineman (in Big 10 of course) got seriously ill (and it seems at least in part due to how he was treated) out of hundreds and, other than that....nothing. immunity spread to the teams and life went on.
This is precisely why Fall practices and season should take place...now.

I see the Power 5 met yesterday to decide on season
    Have not seen an update

The update is Big10 and Pac12 want to CX and are trying to pressure ACC, Big12 and SEC to do the same...media is aiding and abetting.
If there is pressure anywhere it should be the other way around IMO. They are trying to turn the tables and these other three conferences need to call their bluff and proceed...The pressure (if there is any) should be on those looking to CX and not vice versa.

    Here's a quote:
"Big Ten presidents reportedly wanted to know that other conferences would follow its lead by canceling sports this fall."
This is putting it mildly. They are scared to go alone or with Pac12 and know it is risky and are trying to twist arms to get their way.

I don't think the B1G and Pac care what the other conferences do. Everyone will put the asterisk on 2020 anyhow.

for me the writing was on the wall as early as February----it is a pandemic and the disease doesn't care what you want or where you are. It just wants to make you sick. So to speak.

I ordered my tickets and made my contribution just like I have for the past 38 years but did not and do not plan to attend any games if they hold them. Bevo Boulevard can work its magic without me.

As for all you brave folks who think this is manageable, I hope you are right and wish you well. See you in 2021 or 2022.

And the fact that a bunch of 20 year olds think it is all hunky dory carries the same weight with me as people the same age deciding it would be great to join the military and get involved in one of the fun wars that are frequently arranged. I had a lot of friends in the 60s who thought Viet Nam would be a neat place to prove their manhood. Most of them got their names on the plaque at Veterans' Park in our little hometown. Brave Boys. Young men always think they are immortal.

There's something like 250,000 Harleys descending upon Sturgis, SD.
    Let's play some football.

    Big difference here, huisache....huge difference..
In Nam...we really had no idea what we were walking into.
With this "pandemic" most of us have seen enough at this point...It is pretty clear what will happen when a bunch of young athletes get together to play football....not much.
Comparing covid to Vietnam is just silly.
I personally respect your choices and personal views on this...I really do.
I just cannot begin to relate to your chosen analogy in light of what we now understand about covid.
My views would be different if it were March and we were talking. Think we know enough now to have a pretty good grasp of what we are dealing with and let everyone make their own decisions. Insinuating young men (who have what I believe to have a well thought out, informed and reasoned view of the reality of this threat) are some how just exercising reckless and ignorant youthful whims in this instance is reckess in itself IMHO. To many of us they appear to be the "smart" ones in the crowd. Not sure how many were calling those rushing to Nam that.

Watching ESPN now and no official decision announced.
They are still feeling out other Power 5s.
SEC presidents are meeting, however, and that's a few days earlier than they had planned.

Chris & Castiglione have to lead the charge, but Clemson & FSU have another chance to jump ship and get away from Swafford and his basketball only thinking. The SEC would gladly accept both, but they would prefer the Big XII.

Stumbling block? Bowelsby & NeinASS ******* them over last time. One of those two is still around, the other took the cash and ran before anyone wised up. They do not trust Bowelsby and for good reason. They would make great additions to the conference since we don't have enough bought & paid for teams.

Some tech savvy person please post Harbaugh's response this morning, basically inviting certain people in the rust belt to go perform an impossible, unnatural sex act on themselves.

As a former leader in Bellmont once said, "They bring nothing to the table". All the TV sets in Nebraska are off, because their owners are in Lincoln. They do travel well, but if we get to 50-75%, they get 5,000 seats. Not a h uge economic impact.

When Osborne was cheating his *** off and overseeing the nation's largest steroid stash, he was only something like 3-22 against highly ranked teams. They are now an afterthought on the national scene.

They do have the best fans.

I'm opting out in terms of giving a crap about teams...I WILL still pay enough attention to spreads to try and make money though.

The sportsbook has no loyalty to teams.
