Just a reminder Espn will be showing the Texas vs Northern Iowa game as part of national sisters day. I personally have not seen that match since it first came on so I'm very excited!

This is a match of adhuoljok malual. The other player coming with Melanie in 2021. She will come and dominate at Texas and could be the next Hooker:hookem:

At this point we might as well hold off and hope for a spring season or just redshirt everyone until fall of 2021. I don't believe it's necessary to use a year of eligibility for players that are playing for no ncaa championship. Especially our Junior class! Besides, if we have a spring season we might get to play non conference teams and Parra along with Malual will be at Texas and they would be able to play.

Errbody should opt out due to covid so they could save their year for next season.....

That's what I said. No point in wasting a year of eligibility if your not playing for an ncaa championship. If they do decide to have a spring season then Texas would still be able to play a limited amount of games in it and qualify for the ncaa tournament. So our fall schedule is very important but it's also a risk.
If we play and there is a spring season then our fall schedule plays a role in that but if there is not a spring season then we wasted a year of eligibility for our players. There could possibly be a way to save a year of eligibility for everyone and still play some matches in the fall.

Schools could save a few dollars if they Covid out for 2020... Why play with no chance for a title.???

This could be a thing.. as far as Texas goes CDC said texas volleyball is playing in the fall and it's season ticket holders only.

This is the only comment/tweet I've seen from CDC since the NCAA's announcement a few days ago of no tournament this fall. He says "this year" not "this fall". I'm in the camp that playing a conference only schedule this fall with no tourney is pointless.

Right he said "this year" which means 2020 as in this fall. If he meant anything else besides This fall he would have said "next year" I also am against wasting a year of eligibility for players when they are only playing for a conference only schedule. He obviously knows more than us and he must be confident that there will be a spring season or tournament because if there is then the ncaa has no choice but to allow Texas to participate in it. If we play in both the spring & fall it would equal out to a full season. The team is also still practicing twice a day for 5-6 days a week so they are preparing to play in about a month. All everyone is waiting on is the Big 12 schedule to be released.

In the academic/unversity world, "this year" can also refer to the academic year which means fall and spring. It's a very big assumption to think the NCAA will let the ~87 teams, intent on their football teams playing this fall, play a conference only schedule in fall and then pick up (or continue practicing) and compete in the tournament in spring. The logistics of that don't really work. We have a month to get through before any competition starts and with the way teams are dropping like flies from the fall, I won't hold my breath.

Did Texas get a new social media manager? It seems to be less active than years past.

So it appears Fall isn't going to count on eligibility and they have to figure out how to let the teams who play in the fall participate in the tournament among many other things they'll need to figure out. What a mess!

Mess doesn't start to describe it. It is a major cluster***k of epic porportions.

As expected, 2020/21 is not going to count against the fall sports athletes' eligibility. The NCAA also announced they will try to have championships for the fall sports in the spring. Can't find anywhere where it was implicitly stated teams could play fall & spring. Conference USA has opted out of volleyball for the fall.

Good thing this doesn't really affect us since we have no 2021 recruits. For the ones who do they are really in a knot unless they raise the scholarship limit to accommodate the 2021 recruits. I hate to say this but I expect everyone to move to the spring since they have decided to try and have a spring championship. Unless they allow teams playing in the fall to participate in the championship then it works out for everyone

Doesn't affect us in 2021. Gets interesting for the 2022 recruits. We were scheduled to lose 5 players - Logan, Bri, Jhenna, Sydney & Capri. Now all those girls can stay on one more year, too, if they want. So all those stars we're trying to sign will have to decide if they want to ride the pine for a year behind 5th year seniors or go somewhere else.

So if our 5 current juniors decide they want to stay another year and they stay for the 2022 season and we don't get any 2022 recruits besides the one we have would that affect our 2023 class?

Basically, the Texas 2022 class needs shift to 2023 and so on. While we have 5 bodies currently classified juniors (Logan, Bri, Capri, Sydney and Jhenna), I don't think all 5 are on full 4 year deals. The sophomores are Skylar, Molly and Asijia. So depending on who is and isn't on scholarship, your class size could be about the same for both years. The makeup between setter, pin hitter and middle now likely shifts.

I had not focused on this language from the NCAA "The financial aid of fall sport senior student-athletes who take advantage of the additional year of eligibility and extended clock will not count against team limits in 2021-22." That means it's a one year exemption for the scholarships. In 2022-21 they're back. My statement that the 2022s could come ride the pine is incorrect, unless they want to do so as a walk-on.

In this NCAA announcement, the 2022 high school seniors get a raw deal. Middleton a top 2022 recruit that we were after, announced this weekend she's going to USC. I'm guessing the top talent in 2022 is going to be scrambling for a place to land because some of the landing spots they thought they had just dried up in the last week.

Right so I think we should focus our recruiting to 2023 since we have no 2021 recruits and having 5 potential players returning would really affect our 2022 class. The only person I believe might not use another year would be Butler only because she can go make serious money overseas and join team usa and she also already had a redshirt year so I wouldn't be surprised if she decided to move on. With that being said many 2021 and 2022 recruits might rush to commit now to secure their spot

As long as our girls play the spring (since the ship is moved to there) would have to use a season of eligibility though, right? Fall is free, but I didn’t think Spring was?

since volleyball is a fall sport and moved to the spring they still count it as a fall sport. So even though we will be playing in the fall and spring which Texas will most likely do it still does not count as a season of eligibility meaning everyone gets another year regardless of how many games they play for the fall and spring.

So say all 5 of our current juniors come back for the 2022 season. Since they are Seniors that would mean that there scholarship would not count toward the scholarship limit?? If that's the case then we really don't have to cut our 2022 recruiting since everyone who was offered a scholarship would still be able to get one since the seniors don't count for a scholarship.

No, that is not correct as of now. Shook and O'Brien will not count against 2021. The NCAA has only removed the scholarship limits in 2021/22. So in fall 2022 when our current Juniors will be finally classified as Seniors, you have to be within the scholarship limits.

So we just missed out by a year. Well I said many 22's will commit now before teams decide who comes back that way they have a secured spot and it looks like we are still all in on our 22 recruits. So I guess only time will tell if players decide on staying another year.

No OOC at all. Seems like we should at least get a warm up match against UTSA or someone like that. Going on the road against our arch rival to start the season may be more challenging than it should be.
