That is an awesome video, I've never been on Caddo Lake but sure want to after that. It is alarming to see the infestation of the Giant Salvinia. We have a great place on a small bass lake in East TX. Lake Frankston and the members are doing everything we can to keep out Giant Salvinia.

make sure you clean your boat well after going to any lake that has an infestation...........we had a real hard winter a couple of years ago that really knocked that stuff back but its still there.

I spent a lot of time around Caddo Lake, Uncertain, and Karnack, fishing, hunting and being a kid. My folks live a couple of miles from Uncertain.

I've probably driven by it. I'm not sure, but it might be named after T.J. Taylor who was Lady Bird Johnson's daddy. I knew T.J. when I was a little kid and since we have the same last name, a lot of folks thought he was my grandad. He had a big store in Karnack and he'd let me have the run of the place. He passed when I was 5years old. Once the Longhorn Army Ammunition plant (Thiokol) closed some years back, not as many folks live in Karnack or Uncertain any more. You been there recently?

Bevo I was just there over the weekend...........I remember the old TJ Taylor store well.........My mother retired from Longhorn in 1992..........she showed me a map once that had a breakdown of all the land that had been purchased when they built the plant in 1940-41.........out of 8000 + acres TJ and the Starr family owned about 3500 of it........and yes Karnack has even shutdown the High School..........they now either attend Jefferson or Waskom........they still have Elem thru 8th grade. Alot of the older places in Uncertain are now B&B's.....and I guess you know that Don Henley/Caddo Lake Institute now own the old Flyin' N Fish property.......Caddo is still a great place to visit.

My step granddad bought about 650 acres of the Longhorn land in 1948 when that cut back after the war, he sold off about half when they put in the paved road for the easement so fold to get to Uncertain. He also worked at the plant as part of their onsite Fire Department. Howard Bland was his name. She might not know him as he died in 1963. He ran about 40-50 head of cattle until he passed on, then some were sold and Hugh Pal put some of his on the land. Hugh owned a store in Karnack where all the roads meet, leased the land and ran his cows out there for years. My father owns it now and has for last the 50+ years. If you're on 2198, going toward Uncertain, after goin up the hills and turning east, my folks place is where the black iron gate When I was a kid, there was a place on 2198, (I heard that call it Broadway now?) called the Rocket Club. It was hoppin' place on Saturday nights. I believe it's gone now. If you're on 2198, going toward Uncertain from Karnack, after goin up the hills and turning east after the back entrance to State Park, my folks place is where the black iron gate with white pillars to each side is, which is next to a large white oil holding tank and a small brick maintenance building, but you can't see their house.
