Of course, I see the difference. It takes guts to kneel in front of a TV audience that includes people like you. ;)

My bad, your words lead me to believe you are 20 something. I don’t know enough about you to make that assumption

Fortunately I can ignore the anti-US sentiments expressed by 18-22 year olds. It’s similar to how I treat the opinions expressed by the Hollywood elites. Not worth the negative energy wasted. They can have their opinion of OUR flag and I can have mine.

I hear you, but after watching opening weekend- I have finally reached my limit of this.
Sick of Antafti, Marxism, people who play the victim...it’s seeped into college football. It will pass.

Is it fair to say you could basically tell someone to F off on here as long as you put one of these ;) at the end to soften it?

I think broadbrush classifications and lumping Antifa, Marxism, Socialism tags on people making a statement over the flag is as reckless as someone painting a patriotic, flag loving, conservative minded individual as a white supremacy racist.

I for one am glad we are diverse and different it would be boring otherwise. I respect and appreciate Sabre, HIC and thei’s comments and positions even if I don’t agree with them all the time. But I do think we all could benefit from a little more tolerance of opposing views vs jumping straight to name calling or race baiting. Like Badass said above, come Saturday night we are all family- that includes Sterns, TH and the folks at home and in the stands booing them. I don’t expect anyone in DKR will ask me how I’m voting in November. The focus will be on beating the hell outta UTEP. #TexasFight

I think I might spend a lot of time watching the service acadamys play. I did not see Navy kneel or wear slogans. It takes a lot more courage to do their job than to kneel.

I just wished folks would understand that racists come in all colors, not just white. They are black, brown, yellow and red also. If you dont believe that visit the prisons sometime. Maybe the racebaiters in politics should try to remember that. Sorry Dion, i should go to the. west mall

To those of you who endorse the kneeling, can you explain the purpose? What’s the end game? And what is BLM’s end game?

If you want to win the hearts and minds of the country, do you really believe that disrespecting the flag, disrespecting the national anthem, destroying cities, looting, and menacing innocent citizens who are just living their lives is an effective strategy?

Oh, come now, duke, those are just a few bad apples doing those things. Mostly peaceful protestors. You know, like when a person is killed with a gun, it's not all gun owners who are bad. Oops, wait, yes they are. They are all bad in that case.

But yet you said this^^^^^ and this^^^^^^ and this^^^^^^
So you are either disingenuous, a liar, intellectually dishonest, or all three.

You guys are all the same. All emotion, can't articulate your positions, passive aggressive, childish....so see-through.

Stan predictably moves the target in 3, 2, 1....

. . . blast off! I responded to the disingenuous, etc. comment above, but then I guess the poster realized the original opprobrium was insufficiently broad in scope and so withdrew that one and replaced it with this expanded version. In the revised catalogue, I'm not only disingenuous, a liar, intellectually dishonest, two out of those three, or all three, but I'm also all emotion, inarticulate, passive aggressive, and childish. I could be wrong but I'm beginning to get the impression that RainH2burntO does not completely approve of my posts. EDIT--oops forgot the ;)

    Two things Moon...
I may have missed something...There are alot of posts here..
I dont know anyone who is looking at this here through "legal eyes".
Sure...legally....people can take advantage of the right that was bought and preserved for them by many, sacrificially, over time and express themselves freely under our laws. Those same rights allow us to express our disapproval or withdraw support to whatever degree we desire.
Secondly...I am getting more and more concerned about the "institutions of free minds" ...though I would wish or support nothing to discontinue that freedom, however sullied the minds may be.

I wish to apologize to you for my use of "liar" in that^^^^^post.
I was trying to point out what I believe was inconsistency in your posts and was suggesting, based on what you were saying, there could only be a few explanations. I was not intending to label you a liar. I was suggesting you appeared to be being intellectually dishonest in your posts and should have simply left it at that. I realize "liar" is a strong word and I regret using that word. Hopefully, you have seen enough of my posts to know.....I am typically a very respectful poster.
I do apologize and seek your forgiveness for my poor choice of words.

Glad to know we've narrowed it down to me being just "intellectually dishonest, disingenuous," or both, as well as "all-emotion, inarticulate, passive aggressive, and childish." ;) Of course, you are forgiven. I feel much better now.

I am a t-shirt fan. I have no emotional attachment to the university. I half-heartedly sing the Eyes of Texas and wave my horns when everyone say's, "Give 'em hell, give 'em hell." But I'm detached from the alumni experience. The team is the home team and I support them in that regard. I've always liked Texas because Big Bertha and Bevo caught my eye long ago when I watched Texas play Tennessee in a bowl game while I was a child. I was living in Florida at the time and my Father was an alumnus of Florida State University (BS, MS, Ph.D.) I grew up a Seminole and it's still in my blood. But we moved to Texas in 1970 and I've been here ever since. I ended up going to Trinity. I moved to Austin in 1994.

So to me, The University of Texas is not an acquired taste, but instead a feeling of loyalty due to circumstances. And I'm not a true orangeblood. I get the angst over Confederate statues and racist university fathers. I think Herman is in a spot where he had to make a choice. There is zero nuance to this civil rights movement. It's all in or else.

So when he kneels I won't feel anything because it's not real to me. It's a wave of emotional power and he made his choice. If the team performs well because he supported them, then I guess I can live with that superficial point of view, because in the end, it's just a game. And it doesn't help my life in any way. It's exciting to watch great athletes and be around a great crowd.

    But that's it.

I don't look to Herman, Popovich, Kerr or any other coach for my spiritual or humanitarian growth. Neither do I look to Biden or Trump.

    I own that myself.

It took guts in 1964. Now it takes guts not to do it. Everyone is racing to prove their virtue and not be cancelled. The easiest thing now is to kneel. I will say it was hard for Kaepernick. It's not hard for Herman.

I still think it's even easier to sit on one's coach and hurl epithets (anonymously) at those who kneel.

Of course it is. Just like it's easy for you to post whatever it is you post. Same for me.

But who is hurling epithets? That's your problem. You are assuming the worst. You are saying if someone doesn't think like you then they are the enemy.

    Some freedom you're pitching there.

How about this one from another of our esteemed posters: "If this [kneeling] comes about I will find another team to support until this POS coach and players are gone." That's what I would call an epithet.
