I, for one, am not saying it doesn't exist to some degree.
I personally believe the attention, activity, anger, drama, expression, and rhetoric does not remotely match the level to which this is actually an issue....and that is why there is so much push back.

It has caused a whole lot of angst expressed on this board.
What loss of revenue have the players requests/demands caused to the University?

The problem is the priority. Bad schools is 10x the problem of police brutality for the black community. Fix the schools and the police brutality issue is fixed too.

It focuses on the wrong problem.

    Well, I shouldn't speak for anyone. Maybe I didn't get Galv's post.

I was born in Tallahassee, Florida in 1958. George Wallace country. Confederate flags everywhere. Jim Crow. It's silly to have to "agree" there is racism in the world. There is no concession as if I had to be talked into it.

I'm talking about the tactics being used to overcome it.

I think it's a mistake as currently being acted upon.

i.e., of course a little racism exits, and, if you don't rub our noses in it, but ask politely, we will eventually grant you a few more rights out of the goodness of our hearts because whites are basically a magnanimous group. ;)

You're speaking of indoctrination here. Not patriotism.
You want our citizens to be Pavlovs dog.
At the raising of a certain piece of cloth or playing of a certain song, they should be ready to kill or be killed regardless of the worth of their actions.
To me, loving your country means being able to see the problems within it and doing your best to rectify them.
I've been told to "Love it or leave it" since I protested the Vietnam war at 17 years old.
I'll continue to love it and try to change it for what I perceive to be the better.

I don't think you can say you know what it's like to grow up and live as a black person in this country.
They were slaves for 200 years. Beaten, raped and sold like cattle.
Even after that they were segregated and couldn't vote, drink out of "white" water fountains. Eat in the same restaurants.
Young black men were lynched in the south for so much as whistling at a white woman.
This was but a short 70 years or so ago.
But. oh, this country has given them so much. [sarc]
Forget about all that other stuff. Look how great you have it now.
And if you don't think that 300 or so years of slavery, segregation, and oppression didn't contribute to the mindset of some of the black community leading to fatherless families, etc., then you are in denial.
Yes, they need to help themselves. But they deserve our help and participation.
Black men, women and children are killed during altercations with police and it is said" Well they resisted or look at their past record, they deserved it".
A 17 year old white kid shoots three people with an assault rifle and Don Jr. says "Cmon, what 17 year old hasn't made a mistake?".
I don't think anybody is saying that systemic racism is leaking from every pore of our society.
    But it is there.
I think especially in our system of justice.

If Don Jr said that in reference to a 17 y o killing 3 people and with an assault rifle That is disgusting.
I did not know that and for sure did not read the news about with an assault rifle

Keep hating everything about America. That's real smart.

What do you want? Love in everyone's hearts? That's for poets and you know it. Justice against the police. I TOTALLY AGREE. Reparations? Who will pay? Print the money or just take it from innocent people? Or do you stipulate that white privilege as defined by the Left is a guilty sentence?

I think you probably interpreted his post correctly (at least part of it). Moreover, I compliment you on the reasonableness of the remainder of your post. Even though I might not agree with everything you wrote, you wrote it in a reasonable and civilized manner, so major props to you.

No. You were being sarcastic about whites in general so I'm responding.

You think rubbing it in white people's faces is the way to go. I disagree and you are sarcastic about the response in general.

I'm asking if you think the objectives have been furthered by the campaign?

If you don't think this is causing more longtime fans to stop buying tickets and merchandise than bringing in new fans doing the same, I can't help you. I won't be buying anything and my portion of revenue for UT from my premium plan on DirecTV to have LHN will be gone soon. If they don't care, that's fine by me.

It's focusing on the same problem.
Just using the platform they have access to.
And trying to bring about change within their sphere of influence.

I don't "hate" it, but I certainly have been remiss in using it. I will do better from now on. (The reply button is just one of the myriad of things about America that I don't hate). ;)

    Maybe...

    The Flag
    The Anthem
    The Constitution
    The Founders
    White people
    Eye of Texas

I SERIOUSLY see a huge campaign against all of that from the Left. It is very obvious to me. I don't know what you see. I'd like to hear about it.

That is the longest post I've ever seen you make, Moon.

It is a difficult issue and I struggle with the nuances and the very human side of this alot. I do think "they" are making some serious mistakes and I am quite sure the "other" side is, too. I do wish to be sensitive, hear them, and somehow exhibit what is a genuine concern and care for them and their lives. There are some serious disagreements in this country right now about explanations for problems we are facing and so it makes coming together for resolution difficult.
I find, on an individual, personal level, much can be accomplished... but we really struggle nationally. We can all do something every day, personally, one to one, to resolve divides... but, again.. when it becomes a federal, national, political or hot button cultural issue and is discussed or addressed on that level, well...you know.
    Anyway, good post.
I will say... I am not black, but I know the values, beliefs and convictions I was raised with and they have nothing to do with color nor circumstances. There are very many blacks who were raised with those same beliefs and they are singing a much different tune than these protesters today...and they should be heard, too....but they arent the voices getting the attention...or the love. So do people really want all perspectives to be offered so we can find the truth together... or just push narratives?

(I never actually said that to begin with if you look closely at my post) :)

I think incredible progress has been made with regard to racism in the last 70 years, that's irrefutable. Slower than we'd like but things like that don't happen overnight. I also feel that the hate being fomented by BLM has set back race relations enormously and that's a shame.
