Wow....seeing all of these other conferences playing (with limited fans) and the games being played like the college football that we love. The 2 conferences made a HUGE mistake. I hope the conference presidents are kicking themselves now.

Those 2 Conferences would never admit that.

I meant the Conferences themselves; not the fans or the teams.

    In other (fake) news...
Ohio State announces they are joining the Big 12 immediately—in time for conference play.

    (Fake news, of course).

The Big is meeting tomorrow to have a second look at if they play.

The heat is on all the school President's considering:

    1. Everyone else of consequence in college football is playing (the Pac isn't playing, but as stated: "of consequence").
    2. Pee wee, middle school, HS, other college teams like ND, directional schools in Mich, Pitt, etc. are playing. Exactly every other team and league in those states except the Big.

Thankfully for the Big, the sports writers have been on the side of the shut-downers since the start, so media criticism is muted and only focusing on how the shutdown has been communicated, stakeholder involvement, etc. So it's not a media storm of faked outrage like it would be if the media wasn't on their side.

Will be interesting if they come crawling back to playing, trying to hang their hat on some fig leaf like quicker testing or new data about long term effects. When the real reason is they made the wrong decision and the fans / alumni / businesses owners are now forcing them to correct that error.

Will be a laugh if the Pac is left alone with not playing. Maybe they can blame the fires.

"We in the Big were always planning on playing our brand of excellent football whenever facts and Science! allowed it. That time fortunately has now come".

Media types in love with shut-downers: "Once again the Big has shown the college football world the correct and Science! based way of making decisions based on facts on the ground.

"Unlike those hicks in the SEC, B12, ACC, and pee wee football who risked the lives of all involved just to play a month early, the Big has been a model to us all. The college football world owes a deep dept of gratitude to the bestus commissioner in the history of the word, Karen Warren".

    How's that sound?

    B10 to start October 17th.

This just screws everything up. Now how will the playoff work?

It should be the 3rd. With a conference only schedule no team would have preparation advantage.

Wow...but then, not a surprise. Too much peer pressure and too much to lose. Opposing conference coaches might have some fun with this on the recruiting trail.

To me this is somewhat of an admission that the pandemic is much less virulent now (if I can say that here).

If the PAC doesn’t come along — and given the key states, WA, OR & CA they may not, it could have lasting and detrimental ramifications for at least a year or two.

I don’t want to say I was right when I was right, but I encouraged the B10 to delay their DECISION, not the season. It was obvious the Midwest had their COVID surge about 1 month later after the Sunbelt states. So, delay the decision one month.

PAC10 problem is that the states believe in the full shutdown model.

Why nash, what on earth do you mean? (For your own good, don’t answer that question.)

CA, OR & WA are lovely states. Each has a nice coast and an ocean. Their residents are known to merrily mingle in the downtown areas, in small, cozy encampments. Based on reports, gentle melodies such as Kumbaya can be heard almost every evening.

    :idk:

Hearing talk of 8 game conference schedule which would end just before playoff teams announced.
They think 8 games within that conference would be enough to gauge the teams.

    I was curious/thinking....
Who decides and what should be the threshold for what qualifies as a legitimate season?
I mean...a conference playing 8 games vs one playing 10.....Is that equitable?
Why not just play 6 and make it real easy to get your team to the CFP??
    Would/Should a 10-0, 9-0 or 9-1 team receive favor over an 8-0 one?
