I live in Nashville. This mayor, whose brother is a democrat US congressman, is despicable. Continues to shut down the city, harass tourists and raised property taxes 34% all in a concerted effort to remove Trump.
There needs to be criminal prosecutions after Trump wins in November.

San Antonio's Democratic leadership manipulates the COVID numbers too. I think all Dems want to keep it rolling until the election to make Trump look irresponsible and reckless.

Speaking of Nashville, have you read much about this?

Yes it is news around here. His best move would be to locate just south of Nashville in Brentwood or Franklin. 15 minutes to downtown Nashville with much lower property taxes and no crime.

Will Dan Patrick be the next governor? No way Abbott deserves another term.

As you know I follow the ‘rona cases. TN was always suspect to me. They had more cases than you would think given their population.

Nah, it was all in good fun. Now if you talk to the FBI, the agents don't think you're lying but the Director does, you will have the full weight of the Justice Department coming down on you.

No doubt. The Tennessean is a liberal rag that was trying to defend Cooper yesterday, but here is trying to involve Governor Lee. Hopefully it unravels all of the corruption behind the democrats efforts to kill the economy.

Abbott has made I think 24 executive orders on his own mandating lockdowns and masks. All of this without consulting the Texas legislature. He is a no Conservative. He is a big government, would-be king Republican. He should have no place in Texas.

    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

I'm not crazy about Patrick. He stabbed us in the back on property tax relief after campaigning on it for years. Plus he wants to compromise with gun grabbers. No thanks.

As crazy as it sounds, I think we need to vote for the Chad Prather guy if he follows through with running. I know little about him, but non-politicians are more common sense and simple about their political views. They, we, don't try to please all the pre-existing political interests like guys like Abbott and Patrick.

My post was a question because I am not close to Texas politics any longer. I remember Patrick when he was sports anchor on channel 11 in Houston.

From who I do know about, I would support Crenshaw.

I tried to follow this as best a non twitter user can, but wth is going on about the FOX station having to "apologize" because no cover up existed? Did the reporter err? Did the station knuckle under to pressure of some sort?

I’ve not heard of an apology, but I’ve been tuned out of local news since Friday afternoon. A quick scan doesn’t show anything either. The day after the story ran, there were several people trying to kill it saying it was out of context.

The reality is there were far more cases (thousands) in the construction and long term care business. Both were deemed essential by the mayor and the comparative numbers were hidden for restaurants and bars. Lawsuits already stacking up.

Update - the story is definitely true because CNN is reporting it is false. No other apologies or retractions have been issued.

The below is what I actually saw on twitter, but can't find the tweet where the FOX 17 anchor apologized on air. When I saw it I was taken back, you don't see many anchors apologize on stories like this

Hopefully they'll nail the mayor if he is covering up anything

Nashville's supposed coronavirus cover-up was just a misleading story used by right-wing media

"We do not believe there was any cover up"
After I reached out to a Sinclair spokesperson, and after the mayor's office put out a statement demanding an apology, Fox 17 removed its story from its website. The station then issued this statement to me: "In a segment that aired earlier this week, we incorrectly asserted that Mayor Cooper's office withheld COVID-19 data from the public, which implied that there had been a cover up. We want to clarify that we do not believe there was any cover-up, and we apologize for the error and oversight in our reporting."

"We continue to have questions about the level of transparency that the government showed to the restaurant and bar industry - whose livelihood was on the line," the statement added. "As journalists, we will continue to ask those questions and hold elected officials accountable."

'For months, scientists and public health experts have warned of mounting evidence that the novel coronavirus is airborne, transmitted through tiny droplets called aerosols that linger in the air much longer than the larger globs that come from coughing or sneezing.

Now, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention agrees. The CDC recently changed its official guidance to note that aerosols are “thought to be the main way the virus spreads” and to warn that badly ventilated indoor spaces are particularly dangerous.

“There is growing evidence that droplets and airborne particles can remain suspended in the air and be breathed in by others, and travel distances beyond 6 feet (for example, during choir practice, in restaurants, or in fitness classes),” the agency stated. “In general, indoor environments without good ventilation increase this risk.” ...."

Mounting evidence. Sounds like Schiff heads up the CDC now. Where's the evidence? Oh, don't worry, we have it...

I mean, why wait until all evidence and data are in. Just spew more scare tactics as evidence supposedly mounts. Total ********.

If so, then masks are truly of no use. Only ventilation from bottom to top would really help.

It will be different tomorrow. The science is wrong, the data is wrong and the policy for dealing with the pandemic has been accordingly wrong.

No doubt. CDC likes seeing "CDC says..." in the news I think. Addicted to it and thus they shove ******** in our faces weekly.

Whether he deserves it or not, Abbott's chances are largely dependent on whether Covid is still a big issue in 2022. If it is, then he could get primaried, and ultimately, we'd likely end up electing a Democrat for the first time since 1990. If we're pretty much back to normal by then, Abbott (who was well-liked before) will probably win again.

I think Dan Patrick has reached his political pinnacle, and I've heard from people in the know that he is sweating what happened in the suburbs in 2018. I expect that you'll see a less truculent and divisive Dan Patrick over the next few years. I think you'll see a little less on social issues from him and more on kitchen table and governance issues.
