I'm sure Trump and Biden agree on this matter:

Joe Biden Argued for Delaying Supreme Court Picks in 1992
Hours after archival C-Span video clips of the speech began circulating, Mr. Biden issued a statement saying that his remarks had been misinterpreted, and stressing that he believed, then and now, that the White House and Congress should “work together to overcome partisan differences” on Supreme Court nominations. He had a record of moving such candidates during his time as chairman of the judiciary panel, he said.

“Some critics say that one excerpt of my speech is evidence that I oppose filling a Supreme Court vacancy in an election year,” Mr. Biden said. “This is not an accurate description of my views on the subject.”

Since both potential Presidents agree, why delay the process?

I hate to react out of political emotion, but I do wish the republicans would jam it up the democrats back side as retribution for the last SCt nomination process and the impeachment fiasco.

Look, either you are going to win this election, in which case this is the majority party simply acting with its power, or you are going to lose, and this is the last thing you have any control over for four years.

if Trump loses, he just gets to go back to being Mr Billionaire, only even larger than before. Maybe he’ll just play it a little edgy.

If Trump loses, he is fighting many lawsuits. Pence will pardon him to eliminate Federal issues.

True her replacement will be after the elections. Any body Trump nominates will get hammered. Women will come up and say he/she sexually assaulted me. Trump doesn’t need the political chit storm right now. Lay low and get elected.

Again, if Dems were in charge, they would ignore all that and push through a confirmation. RINOs, not so much.

NO! This is straight out of the spineless RINO playbook. The Dems already hate Trump. Nothing he does can possibly insight any more hatred from that group. While they have the advantage and opportunity, POTUS and the Republican controlled Senate need to unapologetically assert their political will.

I get It I want to jam something down the Dems throat also. But the last chit show was a distraction. Have focus and win. The confirmation hearing will last well beyond November 3. Sad but true.

Obviously the best political option for the Rs. Confirmation before will cost them the Senate.

"They completely ignore the fact that, at the time, I was speaking of the dangers of nominating an extreme candidate without proper Senate consultation," he said. "They completely neglected to quote my unequivocal bottom line, so let me set the record straight as they say: I said and I quote 'if the president consults and cooperates with the Senate or moderates his selections, then his nominees may enjoy my support as did Justice Kennedy and Justice Souter,' end of quote."

Biden told the group of law students at Georgetown University in Washington DC that, since there was no vacancy between Thomas' confirmation and the presidential election, he couldn't say what might have happened if a seat did open up. However, he added that his track record as the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee gave a pretty good hint as to what the outcome of a nomination would have been.

"I was responsible for eight justices and nine total nominees on the Supreme Court — more than, I hate to say this, anyone alive," he said. "Some I supported, a few I voted against. But in all that time, every nominee was greeted by committee members, every nominee got a committee hearing, every nominee got out of the committee even if they didn't have sufficient votes to pass within the committee."

He continued: "Every nominee, including Justice Kennedy in an election year, got an up-and-down vote. Not much of the time. Not most of the time, every single solitary time. To now hear all this talk about the Biden rule, it's frankly ridiculous. There is no Biden rule, it doesn't exist."

And what if the Rs do as you recommend and then proceed to lose both the White House and the Senate? When an opportunity arises to exercise your political will, especially when doing so will have a tangible, fundamental and long lasting impact on one of the three branches, you act upon it. The practice of building political capital for future use is dead.

If Trump waits and he loses, there will be even more pressure to delay until 2021.

Honestly does anyone think Trump delays?

hopefully there is a solid conservative woman that he can nominate. Even that will bring out the Dem wolves, but at least they won't have the assault BS to make up again.

After the election, there is a lame duck periiod to confirm. To me politically it makes sense to wait.
