I would think the first couple of weeks coaches will sit starters rather than run up the score. Weeks 3-7 could see the runaways.

Which is part of my point...ugly for me includes games against the spread. I've got several Vegas contest entries to be concerned about, with seven figures up top.

In any other season, I would be jumping all over KC -9 but I can easily envision Reid benching the starters while up two touchdowns in the 4th quarter and the second-team giving up a score that brings it inside of that number.

Instead, I am left sifting through the games that are basically a pick'em...and with no pre-season, that is ugly. With no alibi...

    9-19

Today looks like another casualty of the coronavirus semi-lockdown/slowdown, with a crummy set of games. It's pretty slim pickens for college football fans today. Here's the best of an uninspiring slate of games:

Miami v. Louisville -- The big game in a small week in college football. #17 vs. #18. Interestingly enough, Miami appears to have the saltier defense with Manny __iaz as their coach. __iaz poached his new OC Rhett Lashlee from SMU, and the Canes look pretty good on both sides of the ball (after 1 week of play...). The Canes' blocking may be a bit suspect, so look for plenty of pressure from the Louisville side. The Canes have new QB D'Eriq King (from UH) who throws with good accuracy and has some wheels. The game is at home for Louisville, while King brings the dual threat QB aspect for the U. I'm taking Louisville in a hard-fought win today. Could be a real barn burner. I just don’t have much faith in a __iaz team, for obvious reasons.

More on King--this Manvel High grad broke the Texas 6A passing TD records in HS (117). In HS, King threw for over 10,000 yards and rushed for over 3,00 yards, with 140 passing TDs and 48 rushing TDs. :yikes: At UH, in 2018 he was injured late in the year, after passing for 2,982 yards with 36 TDs and only 6 INTs. He rushed for 14 TDs.

Notre Dame v. South Florida -- Charlie left a wreck at USF. The Irish should roll.

Oklahoma State v. Tulsa -- Okla. State brings a #11 national ranking into its game with cross-state rival (sort of) Tulsa. Tulsa is weak, and Ok. St. is well-coached. Look for Chuba Hubbard to run wild over the Hurricane. Tulsa lacks the D-front and team speed to stop him.

SMU v. UNT -- Shane had his usual good outing against Texas State, but as a team, SMU doesn't look like last year. Today, I'd look for Shane and crew to light it up and make a statement against the Green.

Georgia Tech vs. UCF -- Josh Heupel will have UCF ready to take on the Jackets who come off a win over FSU and play at home in Atlanta. UCF has 10 opt-outs, but are still significantly more talented (and better coached) than Ga Tech. Could be interesting, but I'd take UCF on the road.

Syracuse v. Pittsburgh -- #25 Pittsburgh whips some Orange arse. The Orange are coming off a 31-6 whipping against Mack Brown's Tarheels. Pitt is pretty solid on both sides of the ball and the home field advantage. They warmed up with a 55-0 win over Austin Peay (big deal, I know...). Pitt has a handful of players sitting out on coronavirus protocol. It shouldn't matter. Syracuse is pretty bad.

Navy v. Tulane -- Navy looks to rebound after BYU took the Midshipmen back to shaft alley without any lube oil and left them crying in the bilge. (BYU 55, Navy 3). Navy lost its star QB, Malcolm Perry, to graduation and brings an anemic offense into New Orleans. Could be more trouble for Navy, but you never know in this weird conference.

Louisiana (Lafayette) v. Georgia State -- The Rajin Cajuns sport a #19 ranking after kicking Iowa State's butt. The Cajuns should keep it going against a so-so at best Ga. State team in Atlanta.

    Neither team look that good.
Tulsa is running the ball really well. Tulsa is lining up for a field goal in the second quarter, right now it is Oklahoma State 3 and Tulsa 0

Tulane is destroying Navy. 24-0, but Navy just intercepted a Tulane pass to save themselves from 31-0 at the half.

The value of practice, kinda like professors that teach theory and those that have actually done it.

Looks like another ugly trip back to shaft alley for the Midshipmen. Maybe they’ll right the ship and set sail to some wins as the season progresses. (Any other corney nautical analogies I could throw in there...?)

Navy looks awfully slow. Lack of team speed in comparison with those N.O. Guys.

Tulsa with another sack—6 sacks for the game for Tulsa!:yikes: Our D front should be licking their chops watching this game. Tulsa is now up 7-3. 3rd Q. OSU with a backup QB in there. Looking pretty lousy on O—uncharacteristic for a mullet-coached team.

At least Mullet’s D is playing well. Good coverage in the Cowboy D-backfield. 3 and out for Tulsa. Cowboy ball.

Bullock has been pretty awful at QB, and his OL sure isn’t helping him much. But OSU is finally moving the ball a bit.

Now Bullock with an INT. He threw it right to the Tulsa CB.

Wallace also just kind of stood there. It nearly looks like Okie State is throwing this. Or at least, more likely, not giving it their full effort due to locker room tensions.

Impressive defensive team speed for OSU.

I’m not used to seeing them as a good D / bad O team.

QB #3 is in there for OSU—a true Freshman. Whoever he is, he’s better than Bullock.

Is oSu's OL that bad or why the gimic blocking schemes on pass plays?

Not convinced of this QB yet. His first pass was badly underthrown but Wallace adjusted. The other big pass worked because the defender tripped and Wallace was uncovered.

I hate that "purposefully take forever to make your substitution" is a valid defensive tactic.

Cowboys dodged a bullet. Great defense by OSU DB on 3rd down. And then Tulsa misses a short FG!

Still 10-7 OSU. Better lucky than good today.

More lousy blocking by OSU. They’re looking at a long ugly year if they don’t fix their OL—even with their all-star RB and Wallace.

Navy woke up and just converted twp point conversion to tie Tulane 24-24.

USL with big run to take 28-21 lead
