No, it's just because Trump is so idiotic in what he says. The media tries so hard to help him, and he just keeps shooting himself in the foot.

It was close before Covid. It's a combination of things, but a candidate who doesn't recklessly shoot his mouth off would be ahead.

You keep saying this but you never give any examples. Just because you say it over and over doesn't make it so. You should consider working for CNN. They like to repeat a lot of shiite too without any proof.

Totally agree. "Recklessly shoot his mouth off". Wow. But people on the other side can recklessly call Trump racist, sexist, a liar, xenophobic, and on and on with no proof or examples to back up those claims. Yet, people still vote for those buffoons. But, trump is idiotic and careless.

The more educated an American is, the more closed-minded that person becomes — as is further shown in this same September 11th Gallup news-report:

“Whereas 52% of Americans with a high school education or less are more concerned about bias in others’ news than in their own [and 45% of that minimally educated group think that the news which they are reading might be biased], the figure is 64% among those with some college education and is even higher among college graduates (73%) and those with postgraduate education (77%) [and only 22% of that maximally educated group think that the news which they are reading might be biased].”

The most-educated Americans are the most-manipulable (the most closed-minded) Americans.

Don’t you need to know what they would say is “their” news source before you draw that conclusion?

Dude, I've been giving examples for 4 and a half years. I can't give you an exhaustive list here, because it would overwhelm Dion's servers. However, if you want a few (all of which I've raised and discussed ad nauseum), he recklessly shot off his mouth about Judge Curiel. Everytime he publicly attacks his own people, he's recklessly shooting his mouth off. That's true with respect to Dr. Fauci, Jeff Sessions, John Bolton, and many others. He was reckless in his conversation with the Ukrainian president. Even if not impeachable, it was stupid as hell.

And did you watch the debate?

You guys talk to me like I'm Jim Fuckin' Acosta. I'm not sure why you guys like to bring up the media when I'm critical of Trump. I pretty much never defend the media. Two things can be true at once. The media sucks and is wholly unprofessional and partisan, and Trump says a lot of stupid ****.

You referred to the "other side." I took that to mean the media. In light of how the media behaves, surely you can understand why I'd make that assumption.

You mean when I asked for what stupid thing he has said in the past week and you told me about how he told Bob Woodward he lied, which he did not say, back in Feb?

It is YOUR OPINION that he said stupid things. You don't link any statements to where I might say, yeah, that was stupid. So, in this case, all you are offering is your opinion as if it is fact. You are perfect for CNN, Jim.

Yes, I did. I can agree Trump was combative and even overbearing, but the things he said were true. So, perhaps you mean he speaks the truth stupidly? Because that is quite a different thing than saying stupid things.

Trump says dumb stuff every time he opens his mouth and you would think he would have figured out by now that the media is going to dump on him even when he says something intelligent. For example, I watched a couple of minutes of his rally last night when I got home and he was bragging about how the Mexicans are paying for the beautiful wall he could not get funded when his party controlled both houses of congress and he had a mandate to do something.

He was bragging about how 350 miles of the wall was up and it was going to be paid for by small fees on border crossings.

That's about 1/3 of the border between Texas and Mexico. From the mouth of the Rio to about the Carrizo Springs area. That would leave the area of New Mexico, Arizona and California. That 350 miles is spread out among all of those states of course.

And if it is paid for by charging for border crossings, who is paying? The trucks add the costs to their fee and the person on this side buying the vegetables or whatever Mexico is exporting is paying the fee.

And walls are easy to go around, over and through.

I am sympathetic to a lot of what he is allegedly trying to do, especially immigration control, but he is constantly undermining his own efforts. Sometimes it is not what he says but how he says it. If he were to deliver the Sermon on the Mount he would probably be stoned by the audience.

This is not to say his opponent is worth throwing away a ballot on. Mussolini versus Chance the Gardner. You pick 'em. I'm sitting this one out..

Curious, did you mean to say “by the media”? Just curious cause I would certainly say it’s true of the media.

Not sure which thread to put this in, so here goes...

I've been somewhat politically aware since being a member of the UT Democrats way back in the 90's. My wife is very apolitical. She used to get mad because I'd find some offensive things someone said on some random social media site. Her response was that, out of a country of 350+ million, you can ALWAYS find some idiot to justify your anger. Over the years, I've come to agree with her. I mean, if I wanted to state that some people think the world is shaped like a cube, I'm sure I could find a tweet or whatnot to "prove" that this is an issue that may need to be addressed based on sheer stupidity.

Bottom line. Don't fall into the trap of accepting mainstream biases via smallstream examples.

Flash forward to today. It really is getting somewhat chilling. And it can't be justified away.

The ex-CEO of Twitter stated that those that believe in capitalism should be lined up and shot. He offered to film the commentary.

Trek-Segafredo just suspended a rider on its team for "divisiveness". You want to know what he did? A journalist in another country asked those that follow her to unfollow if, "You follow me and support Trump." She also said he was a horrible person. So, anyway, an AMERICAN cyclist on an AMERICAN owned team simply replied, "bye". He is now suspended for making a "divisive, incendiary statement".

This is way past acceptable. It appears as if most MSM, tech companies, Hollywood, etc... are not only running the show, but entirely stamping out any type of disagreement or dissent. I don't know what the answer is. If Trump wins, it'll be more of the same. If Biden wins, then it'll probably be a tad worse.

ACTUALLY the American cyclist was suspended for the inflamatory language and triggering when after his Bye tweet someone else tweeted 'Apparently a Trumper,'' Simmons countered ''That's right'' with a United States flag symbol.

Here's my take (as I gently wade back in). If he'd been aggressive with masking and not fight his public health experts every step of the way we'd be on the same trendline as the rest of the world, we would be opening back up, and he'd be winning in a landslide. A lot more people would still be here. That's not where we are at. The data is not good, he's not helping, and the facts coming out don't help him.

Instead of needing the SCOTUS seat to pull a few voters out of the church pews to vote for the ***** grabber, his people think he needs the seat to legislate the election because he can't count on Gorsuch and Roberts to do so.

The media "both sides" this thing. In that debate Biden was there to play chess. Trump played all of his spades trying to get under Biden's skin and get him rattled and the debate was not like chess. It was a pissing contest with a skunk where no one wins. The media "both sides" that where the candidates were unruly. One guy was playing by the rules (or trying to) and the other was playing chess like a pigeon, knocking over pieces and pooping all over the board.

Aggressive masking has shown no improvement over passive masking. If you look at each country and note when they locked down or mandated masks, there is no noticeable effect for any of it. That means everything else you say doesn't follow logically. Also, the only country in Europe that is clearly looking in the rear view mirror at the virus is Sweden who did the least. Other countries like UK and Belgium are worried about a "2nd wave". They always are by the way. The only thing that could have helped save lives was protect elderly, infirm, and nursing homes. That wasn't Trump's responsibility anyway. There isn't a once size fits all solution. Nursing home administrators, hospital execs, mayors, governors, etc all need to be involved.

Completely agree with this. Would not have liked it but a stringent quarantine of that group would have dramatically affected the total of deaths. Cuomo should be sued for his Nursing Home actions.

I mean every time I've pointed out and commented on something stupid he has said in the last 4 years, which has happened numerous times.

Captain Obvious has shown up. Yes, of course it's a matter if opinion. It's pretty hard for something to be objectively stupid. What one person views as stupid can be viewed favorably by someone else.

It's like Farah Fawcett. I look at her and see an ok but not especially hot chick. You messed in your shorts just from me mentioning her name.

And no, I'm not going to go to the trouble of linking to every dumbass thing Trump has said. Too much trouble and a waste of time. You won't think any of it is stupid.

Actually something can very easily be true but a stupid thing to say.
