The Mexican Gov't thinks so and is sponsoring a seminar in Austin this week end to make sure.
DNC Chair Tom Perez to Speak at 'Is Texas Turning Purple?' Election Panel Co-Sponsored by the Mexican Govt
"Tom Perez, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, is scheduled to appear this Friday at a Texas election panel in Austin, Texas co-sponsored by the Mexican government.
The panel titled, Post-Midterms: Is Texas Turning Purple?, is co-sponsored by CasaMexico, a promotional group set up the Mexican government for the annual SXSW festival, as well as the Mexican Consul General in Austin. Perez described the discussion as a talk “about Democrats winning in the Lone Star State.”

    Keeping Austin weird.

It sounds like a foreign state trying to impact the outcomes of our government. Not a joke.

Born under a cabbage leaf? This is done all the time. It only became a major political issue because Trump won.

No. I am aware the US does it all the time to other countries and others lobby to affect our politics too.

How could it not be with the torrent of migrants and blue staters flooding in? It's only a matter of time.

I am hoping a few will realize WHY Texas is better and now try to change it to socialism

If only we could all admit the government serves its own ends not any of ours. Then we could work things out and even practice a little live and let live.

So being a Democrat means that you believe in socialism?

No, but voting for any of the current democratic leadership will continue to push us toward socialism. What's odd is that the middle of the road democrats can't see that and will vote for socialism because they just simply hate replublicans. The party has been hijacked by whackos like Pelosi.

Did you read the Dem platform?

Most voters don't read the platforms, because most political leaders pitch their own agenda rather than the platform. Most people I know who are voting for Biden aren't socialists. They're voting for him out of hostility for Trump. Many of them can't even name something about Trump's agenda that they don't like. They just don't like him.

But ... I think you also have to be willing to admit two things --
    (1) There is a wing of the Dem Party that is full on socialist, if not outright Marxist, and
    (2) That wing is growing in power and influence. Even potentially being on the verge of taking over the whole thing

    True MrD
But Will is not most people. He does consider facts.

You have some airheaded friends if the only reason they are voting for Biden is their dislike of Trump.

I agree with you on point #1. There are bad apples in every party.
#2 I think just gets a lot of press coverage which leads to people believing in a "takeover". I believe in our democracy as do many Democrats. While they get press coverage I do not believe in a socialist "takeover".
Also Mr. Deez is correct. If Trump would run this country with just his policies and not be a complete ******* more people would be on his side. If he loses the election to Biden it will be because he is an asshat.

    Thanks for the compliment! :beertoast:

And to answer your previous question. No I have not read their platform. I have not read any parties platform. Platforms to me are for uninformed voters to win votes. Actions speak louder than words.

If so, then why did you guys never accept the results of the 2016 election?
    Why attempt a coup?
What should happen to the coup plotters?

I don't think there has yet been a "takeoever" yet but there is definitely an attempt by the media to breathe air into this philosophy. The media is no longer a reporter of facts regarding things that have happened, they are more like propaganda designed to influence future happenings now. There is power in repetition. It is a proven method of influencing people and the democrats and the media have proven more adept at it than the GOP.

I was going by your quote -- "...I believe in our democracy as do many Democrats.." Was I wrong to go by your quote?
Noting that, in any event, you did not answer

Yes sir. I meant that most Democrats believe in our democracy. Most Democrats do not agree with the faction of their party that is trying to pull this crap. I also do but I am a libertarian.

but here are my answers to your questions:

I think its hilarious that they still think Trump isn't legit.
And anyone trying to overthrow our government should be locked away forever. And my list includes Pelosi, Schiff, Nadar just to name a few. Also ALL left wing and right wing organizations that have destroyed cities in "protests"

But, setting aside illegal the coup attempt, the majority of Dem voters were happy to turn to a likewise improper attempt to overthrow the 2016 election with impeachment. Doesnt that attempt also show "most Democrats no longer believe in democracy?"

And what of their often stated desire to eliminate the electoral college? Would you agree that shows most Democrats (and perhaps you too) no longer believe n the US Constitution?

The members of Congress that voted for the illegal impeachment to some extent yes. Most Democrats that I know did not agree with the impeachment.
Eliminating the electoral college is ludicrous. There have only been 4 elections (1876, 1888, 2000, 2016) where the Electoral College winner did not win the popular vote. The last 2 were 2000 and 2016 were the Democrat lost. They cried both times. Although Obama won both Electoral and popular votes you never heard the crying to get rid of the College did you. This country is more than a few big cities.

I believe with every inch of my soul in the Constitution. I defended it for 21 years. As a Libertarian my whole ideology is based on the Constitution. Even more than Republicans, as they like to think they are the ultimate defenders of the Constitution.

Either stop being reasonable or I am going to again start pointing out why libertarianism is inherently flawed
