Just an anecdote. When Mackovic was first hired, I remember going to a public speech he made in Austin (maybe his first?), and he opened it with something along the lines of...

"The first thing that struck me about Austin was the topography..." I remember thinking, "Oh, man, this is the new football coach?"

Don't have anything against Mackovic personally; I also like contrasting topographies and tasty vino...

This post makes me sad. It's all true. But it still makes me sad. The only solution will be an ousting of the book burners from the admin building. They abide and support what we're seeing on the field.

My option isn't in the poll. I'll watch the games being hopeful. I will cheer for good things and ***** about negative things. But I can not support the quitter players nor Herman. Even if we win 50-0 when I see Herman on the TV I'll flip him a double bird.....no cameras in my house.

I will always pull for the horns, especially when there is a Sam Ehlinger on the field, but I will do it from home. No more money will be donated to any sport or school.

I have no support for the head coach or the feckless administration. They could have purged the cancer, but instead just spit in the eye of the Alumni trying to “woke” us.

As I said, I will always pull for the horns, but there will be no more donations until significant changes are made.

I want Herman gone. As unthinkable as it may be, I am not pulling for the Horns. If TH wins, which of course is laughable, he and the cancer will remain.

Hasn’t worn BO gear since left Lubbock several weeks ago

had numerous friends from across country texting last week with typical OU week banter - reply was the same each time (Thanks Stampede)

Poll is poorly worded. It should have said:
Moving forward will you continue to watch Texas football games and support the other team?

In which case, I would have definitely voted, YES! The divisiveness caused by Herman, who now is begging players to stay on field for the Eyes of Texas, is irreparable. Can we get a GoFundMe to get rid of Herman?

I have no problems supporting the players who actually want to PLAY and who endorse and embrace the traditions of Texas. Those sorts of individuals seem to be few and far between...won't say it is JUST Sam and Dicker the Kicker, but there aren't a lot more beyond them...

Wearing Texas gear this day and time is sorta like wearing a Biden shirt to a Trump rally.

I will continue to watch because I really like Sam Ehlinger and want to see him play. I live in the Eanes school district, and saw Ehlinger play at Westlake as a sophomore (he played 5 games) and junior (he played every game and had his best year), and as a senior (but he was hurt most of his Senior year). His junior year, Westlake would have been state champions, but lost the state championship game in overtime to Galena Park North Shore.

However, after he graduates or leaves, then my disgust with the trajectory of the program, Tom Herman's antics, and none of the players except Ehlinger and Dicker staying on the field and singing the Eyes of Texas will take over. I echo all the reasons others have stated about this.

The truly sad part is, I don't think it will ever get better. In fact, it will only get worse - in the very near future.

College football is about to change in a BIG way when players will be able to profit from their name, image and likeness, so long as the college or university they attend does not pay them directly. In the near future, players will pick which college will give the the best chance of getting paid the most. Nationally known players, especially good quarterbacks, will probably sign national deals with big sponsors. These players will go to the schools that give them the best chance for wide national exposure. All the other players, however, who aren't likely to be nationally known, or who play positions that do not lend themselves to wide national exposure, will pick the University based on the best chance for the school's boosters to pay them. These payments will obstensibely be for advertisements or promotions, but in reality the advertisements and promotions will probably not be for business reasons, but will really be for the boosters to put money in the hands of the players.

Texas may in fact benefit more than most schools under this kind of system, since it has some wealthy boosters. But, don't expect any players to come to a University for the love of the University any more. In a few years, it will be all about the money for the players.

That is why I hold out no hope for the future.

There's some truth to that, Moon, but the difficult part for me is the illogical riddance of a song that has no words that imply racism, but pride in Texas. Sure you've seen it/heard it but Amazing Grace was written by a slave ship captain. Don't think anyone's going to stop singing that song because of it's real meaning and purpose. Under these types of theories, nothing is safe. Just think there's a difference between slavery, jim crow (real types of oppression) and a song touting pride in The University of Texas.

Hire a new gallant knight every five years and throw him out if he hasn't performed up to the highest standard. Like TCU and Okie State did.

We are long past motivation. Lack of motivation should never be the problem anyway. This is about simple give a Sh8t. The problem is that you can never be sure that kids will play well if you set a good example but you can certainly set a bad example that will almost always have a bad effect. Our coaches are setting and living bad examples. This bad behavior has infected most of the "team"

The only way to fixit is an exorcism. Herman will not exorcise the Woke from himself.

For the first time in years (I'm a 1990 grad) I wasn't angry or upset after a loss. Specifically - I wasn't angry or upset AFTER AN OU LOSS. I was just annoyed and kind of sad. Frustration is bad enough, apathy is much worse.

I'll continue to watch Texas football games, if they are on and I'm around the house, as the conference games have been interesting, exciting games, with a mix of horrible and great plays from both teams.

They've been the football equivalent of those Popeye's chicken sandwich fights - fun to watch, you're glad you're not there, and you don't want to ever see those people in person.

But care about if Texas wins? No. Would have been nice for them to beat OU, as it is OU, and everything is better if OU loses. But TCU and TT? I really didn't care who won or lost.

It's like some random ACC game - you're just hoping it's exciting at the end.

In previous years I've been quite passionate and vocal in my support of the Longhorns. This season, however, I've commented several times to friends and family that I'm watching in bemused indifference.

I chose not watch the OU game and I haven't ever done that. I was still sick from the way they gave away the TCU game time and time again. Checked the phone while I was in the deer woods, spending time with my daughter (much less stressful).

Checked the score a few times and was not surprised we came back and was not surprised that mistakes and lack of attention to detail cost us the game. Also, first stat that popped out - rushing. They ran over us like we were UTEP and we ran on them like they were Bama. Sick of a talented team wasting another season with TH.

Set one up. Might get enough to pay Herman off so the University doesn't have to.

I went to my first game in 1960 and have been addicted since. There have been ups and downs but I will continue to root. I believe the players have changed a great deal and to me that is a disappointment. To many individuals and not enough team. All the chest pump and that nonsense are a real problem for me.
