Not necessarily. If Baylor or another Big 12 team gets placed in this region before we do, then Texas would likely be sent elsewhere.

Unless the rules have changed, the host school (duh, we're hosting this thing) gets placed in the Region it is hosting. That doesn't mean we make it to the Sweet 16 and get to play in the 4-team Regional itself, but we get the "chance" to play in it by being one of the 16 teams in this part of bracket.

Now, if we are a Top 16 overall national seed, we can NOT be placed in a Region with another Big 12 school who is also a Top 16 overall national seed. So, even if Baylor is a 1 or 2 seed, and we are like a 3 or 4 seed, I believe that pushes Baylor into a different Region, and we get the nod because we are the host school. But, if Baylor is a 1-4 seed, and we are not a Top 16 national seed, then we can both be placed in this Region.

Exciting times that we can discuss this!

I don't believe this is accurate. The tournament manual's only statement about the regional host institution is the following:

Regional hosting parameter: A team may be assigned to a regional site where its institution is hosting, provided the team has not played more than three regular-season games, not including conference postseason tournaments, in the arena.

Key word is "may". Oregon State was the host institution of the 2019 Portland regional, but Oregon was the #2 seed in Portland while Oregon State was the #4 seed in the Albany region.

I had forgotten that Oregon State was the actual "host" school, and not "Oregon". Guess things are different.

aggy a #3 seed without Chennedy Carter? He’s either high or caught the ‘rona from Todd McShay.

Am I the only one who absolutely loves this projection? Vic gets to come in AND play the underdog card? He probably couldn't have hoped for anything better other than having a normal offseason to actually work the kids out

Also, has there every been a team that made the FF never having to take more than a 1.5 hour bus ride to any game the entire tournament?!?! We have that possibility if we can host and play in our regional with the FF being in San Antonio this year. What an amazing prospect

True I love the doubt people have on Texas and I love the underdog card because it makes for an even better story but if he actually thinks Texas will be the same team as when Karen Aston left he is really mistaken. With the addition of these transfers and hopefully he is not done adding to the 2020-2021 roster Texas will be a tough team to play against anyone in the country. Everyone better watch out because that Texas fight is coming!:hookem:

That would have been the case again this season if the tourney had been played.

That #8 seed is laughable at best, especially with TCU projected as a #7.:rolleyes1:
Put the pipe down, Charlie... Crack is wack.:smh:

I think we will see a team in burnt orange we might not recognize. It will be different, fun to watch and I bet will draw more people like old times...

Charlie Creme is ALWAYS WRONG....has been for years...anyone who reads his idiotic bracket needs to do so realizing this...if I did my job as badly as he does his, I wouldn’t have one....

What better way to motivate your team, than when you can show that the "experts" are sleeping on you. :hookem:

It hadn't even occurred to me that fans might not be allowed at these regionals next Spring; maybe it might be a very small percentage of capacity that's allowed. But, then you have to account for players' families, etc.

The HEB Center in Cedar Park is less than 5 miles from my house. Under normal times, I'd probably go even if Texas weren't a participant. Sure hope we are, though.

For all we know, there could be changes to these regional sites. Perhaps the NCAA committee comes up with a new format, bubble, etc.

Based on an ESPN article, a bubble type situation is very much into the cards.

They also announced something for FW residents to look forward to. I live and work about 10 minutes from the Dickies Arena so here's hoping Texas is the top seed in that region when the time comes.

"In a big win for Fort Worth’s hospitality industry, The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced Oct. 14 that Fort Worth and Texas Christian University have been selected by the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee as a host for the 2026 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship Regional Rounds at Dickies Arena on March 27-30, 2026."

I just read about this. So glad I reserved my hotel for the final four last month. Hotel prices are going to skyrocket. Well TX, BU and A&M will have home court advantage in a round about way. HOOK'EM HORNS!

Now the question is will they have fans? If so, how many? At the last F4 in SA they setup less than half the Alamodome for the F4. I wonder if they will use the whole arena this time due to COVID protocols. This should be interesting. Or move it to the AT&T Center where the Spurs play. If they don't have a game that weekend.

Then I wonder if they will push it back a month or two. At the rate we're going every couple of weeks several teams can't play due to C19. If they push it back a month or so everyone can make up their missed/cancelled/postponed games.

I wonder if the teams will stay in the 64Bubble until they lose. Instead of playing games just on the weekends I wonder if they will speed up the tournament.

    I'm just thinking out loud.
