With all the discussion of the 2-2 Longhorns this week and the unrest among some of the fanbase I was wondering how many students and fans would be on hand to watch the game from DKR?
    UTEP was approx 15,600
TCU was 17,754 per ESPN and had a much better turnout in the student section.
Max occupancy is approx 24,000 and my guess is 19K students and fans show up.

    What is your estimate?

Looks like the UT Band will not be there. The Eyes of Texas fiasco rages on....

I can't believe anyone would show up to watch, unless you approve of losing, zero effort athletes, and an inept coaching staff and administration.... Then by all means, go support...

Everyone that attends should bring a kazoo to "replace" the band.

Due to work scheduling, this would have been the first Texas game I could have attended in person this season. After the OU game, I lost all confidence or interest in this team and staff and have decided to spend my Saturdays (and money) elsewhere.

Ironically, I'd have still had a minor motivation to attend the game this weekend and that would have been to boo the Longhorn band at the top of my lungs when they took the field. Alas, they're too 'uncomfortable' to even be there.

You should come Sapo, just because. You can lend your voice to mine and the others when the playing begins.

I miss the atmosphere and there are a great number of y’all that I would love to meet and hang out with in person, but OU did it for me. I will take the money I would’ve spent going to the game & cook for friends & have a pool tournament at the house. I’ll be happier, too.

With what I fear may be the outcome there may be several ‘unhappy’.

Good man, the Boo is the great equalizer in sports. Loud and long it carries (that's what Yoda said).

Shall it rain down upon those deserving of its sonic punishment Saturday, as Conan said, "We Shall See!".

There are only two good outcomes on Saturday at DKR:

    1. On the Field - The Horns beat the Bears

    2. In the Stands - Fans and students show up and support the team

The rest is all 2020 drama and nothing will be resolved until December.

HC TH is supporting the players, AD CDC is supporting the Athletic Dept and President Hartzell is supporting the University. Each plays a role in getting thru this season so that we can prepare for real football in 2021.

The names can change but 2020 will have an asterik to mark it as unique.

This season counts just like any other one. No harder for Texas than any other team in the country. Even easier so far - Texas got to tune up on an out of conference paid chump, while other leagues canceled their hired games.

Someone is going to win a B12 title this year, just probably won't be Texas. And someone will win a NC - certainly won't be Texas.

.... and the fans have been supporting the team & program and who has been supporting the fans? Everyone you’ve mentioned is focused on covering their own *** foremost. Unique is not the first word that came to mind in describing the 2020 season.

It's what I personally like about college football - the consistency and how the good teams stay that way. Let baseball and the NHL have teams that go from outhouse to penthouse and back in two years.

@El Sapo I would suggest that the 2020 season started in a totally different and unique way from any previous season when the May 25th George Floyd death and BLM issue was on the minds of the team and the march on the Capital in June.
Based on the Hornfans posts over the summer it has not been a normal routine for the team or fans by any measure.

By most posts of the team and staff behavior, reactions, statements it is far from a normal and routine summer, camp and start of season.

I chose unique as a description for a season unlike any other but you are welcome to pick your own description of the period.

As far as the fans being supported, I put that in the responsibility of CDC the head of the Athletic Dept that deals directly with the fans and the donors. IMO CDC has done an excellent job in getting the whole season started and the very difficult process on reducing the fan attendance of season ticket holders from 68K to 19K without complete anarchy in a season of high expectations. In addition CDC has been the leader in getting the entire Athletic Dept compliant with the new situation and City/County/State CV19 compliance and mitigation. The football team is just a part.

Some schools have done a less effective job resulting in postponement and cancellations.

Not easy even in a normal year.

Nope sure hasn't, and you didn't even mention the Rona either.

Okay, I commend the athletic department for navigating the tricky waters of 2020 and ensuring that our crap football team arrived on schedule.

Look, Bill, for me this was about year four with a stocked roster and a senior quarterback. I circled 2020 over a year ago as 'no excuses' and instead it has been a year where there are tons of excuses if one wanted to look or accept them. I don't. I don't because the Clemsons and Alabamas of the world roll on like nothing has happened while we remain sloppy, leaderless, and undisciplined losing to teams that do more with less.

My guess is that was about 17.5K including the Baylor fans.

ESPN says 18,202 so we have a new attendance record for 2020 season.

    Go Horns!
