Over on the Recruiting Board in the 2023 thread, there's some talk of Urban Meyer changing the landscape of things if he were to get hired. Then there are some posts about Bob Stoops waiting on an offer. I realize it's just talk, or keystrokes, but if it were to happen? Could you burnt orange anymore?

Stoops yes. UM probably. I favor standing pat with TH, who I did not favor hiring to begin with

Drastic times call for drastic measures. Drastic times?

    1) Bill Powers refused to fire Mack when he was told to, thus costing us two "hires of a lifetime"
    2) Bill Powers hired Charlie Strong to be his legacy. Good man, incompetent coach
    3) Perrin was pushed to hire Herman (I was one of those pushing)
    4) Herman failed miserably as a leader of young men

Now we need a strong willed, stern coach to clean house, and tell the puppets exactly how things are done or there is the door. The thought of Urban Meyer being our coach is repulsive, but not as repulsive as watching the **** show on and off the field that is Tom Herman.

Only two coaches that fit the mold - Urban Meyer & Nick Saban. The latter is not available to US.

Bob Stoops is a good guy, great coach, but I don't know if his personality is up for running off the malcontents. Can he do it? YES Will he do it? Probably.

Face it, either is a huge step forward from Tommie Herman,

Do either Stoops or Meyer have the huevos to stand up to the BOR and Big Cigars here?

    Absolutely!

It's Chris' job to schmooze the BMDs & BOR, with some help from coach with the BMDs. Both Stoops & Meyer have been there, done that.

Right now, get rid of or turn the puppets around, start recruiting & winning. That alone, is worth over $150 million a year.

If we don't hire an Urban Meyer, if he was even interested, then we don't deserve to be in the "blue blood" class anymore. We are an absolute laughingstock of college football that if you get out of the state you hear about it all the time.

I don't even have to leave my couch in Texas to hear about it.

Urban Meyer would be barf in my mouth a little bit and then probably move forward, but Stoops at Texas would just be weird to me. Too weird.

Seems we hired another coach from Oklahoma one time. He worked out pretty good.

Stoops to Texas. Sounds strange, but if the man can get this team to be a scoring machine coupled with a stout defense, then I'm okay with it. I don't know if UM is totally on board, but talk is cheap and probably best to interview both Stoops and UM.

If Texas wants to join the ranks of the upper portion of the Power 5, Stoops and Meyer are the only ones available. There is no money available to pay-off Sweeney's or Saban's current contracts and pay them the $15 to $20 million a year for 5 to 10 years they are going to demand to jump to Texas.

On the other hand, if Stoops or Meyer are not hired why fire Herman and hire another Group of 5 coach who will turn out the same way as Strong and Herman?

Right now, many of us are so DISGUSTED with TH and his on and off the field results, we would hold our nose and settle for a Stoops or UM to right the ship if AD, BOR & Big Cigars make a change.....

Herman would not be in this hot of a seat had he not pitted the fans against the team and then facilitated the team against the university all under the guise of "having his players backs". I wonder if his peanut brain has been able to wrap around this yet.

I beg to differ. All that social justice crap is just noise. Herman's on the hot seat because his teams are mediocre at best. He does less with more talent than just about any coach in the U.S.

I'm not disagreeing he is out of his league, but I suspect the seat would not be this hot without the other mess. Considering the crappy competition so far this year, I bet if the team were really playing like a team we would probably be 4-1 or 5-0 right now and ranked in the top 10 even with his inept abilities.

There are people around the same age as TH out there who would make good coaches, but we wouldn't know more about their successes without a lot of vetting and digging through articles and gameplay clips. Nobody in their ******* minds thought that Mack was an elite coach when he took the Texas job, but he definitely showed glimpses at UNC of why he would be a good fit.

For all of the **** Harsin caught for his inability to dominate as Texas OC, he sure seems like a good HC for Boise. He inherited an offense based on the Case McCoy lateral to Jaxon Shipley, which wouldn't be as big an issue today. When he had Rypien as QB they were very intentional about going 50-50 with run/pass and were quite successful at it.

I hated Heupel when he was playing against us, but he sure seems to know what he's doing at UCF.

I don't think we can get guys like Fleck to come here. Everyone else who's holding out for Urban Meyer just reminds me of when A&M snagged Jimbo. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

I can't believe I'm typing this, but I would take Stoops or Meyer. I'd possibly even favor a few HF posters over what we have right now.

Nash, yes Texas has sunk some, but those schools with the coaches that Texas needs to hire are protecting those coaches with everything they have. Ergo, if Texas wants to rise above everyone else, they have to find a proven out of work superior level coach. Thus there are two Stoops and Meyer. Both may not (but could) cost about the same. It will take bunches to get Stoops off the couch. However, due to the bad blood between Meyer and Herman (Meyer blaming Herman for the tOSU fiasco), UM might take a cut in base salary for the first year with the chance to double base based on outcome. If not Stoops and Meyer will cost about the same.

Stoops would be weird, but definitely has the resume and results as long as he does not make Mike his DC. I vote Urban.

Neither Stoops nor Urban will be the long term (5+ years) solution, but they will right the program and help identify the next great Texas coach.

That's a shame because we definitely have a wealth of coaching talent. Heck, we could staff at least 5 or 6 elite programs with what we right here on HF.
