    My subjective ranking:

    1. Patterson (Dude does more with less, and has our #)
    2. Mullet (almost made him #1)
    3. Lincoln Riley (OU sucks, but their coach sure doesn't)
    4. Les Miles (based solely on his past successes with other teams, including a national championship--obviously KU sucks now)
    5. Matt Campbell (would have been near my top a few years ago. His luster has worn off some, but he's still a really good coach; more of a Big 10 sort of guy)
    6. Tom
    7. Klieman (could shoot up the rankings)
    8. Aranda (great D assistant at LSU, but can he make BU a winner, and keep them there?)
    9. Wells (did well at Utah St, but so what...)
    10. Neal Brown (has yet to show us much)

Any of #s 1-3 would tear it up at UT

It's hard to say, as success on the field is normalized by the subjective aspect of how good that school should do.

Without looking it up, I'd wager Texas has a better record than TCU that past 3 years overall, and better bowls. But, TCU has whipped up on Texas, and there's the subjective aspect of how well any coach can / should do at TCU compared to Texas.

I'd break down the B12 into 3 groups, and rank the teams in that.

Top tier by history and resources: Texas and OU.
Mid-range, winning seasons most years: OSU, TCU, Baylor, etc.

Bottom tier - Kansas, not sure who else.

Then rank coaches in that group. Otherwise, who's better - Mullet or Herman? Mullet has a 2-1 record, but no B12 games, no major bowls. But how well should he be doing? Depends on how much you think OSU is capable of.

OTOH, Gundy has had as much as or more talent than Texas for most of the past decade and has only beaten OU twice. 1-4 against OU is bad enough, but nobody at Texas would even be allowed to get to 2-12.

Well he developed them, and found the diamonds in the rough.

And with say Patterson, I don't know how he'd do here, probably well, but there's a lot more to running the football operations at a major school than at TCU.

No one expects much, or really gets that fired up there. Alumni, media focus, fund raising campaigns, it's a whole separate world. Sort of like a guy who owns a small restaurant that seats 20, and cooks what he likes, compared to running a huge place in a big city, with food critics going over every aspect of the place.

And yeah Gundy has a terrible record against OU, but at OSU, if he beats them every 5-6 years that's plenty.

Herman and Gundy should only be used in the same sentence if Herman is taking lessons from Gundy.

One is a coach, and developer of players, the other is a wannabe

Klieman may really come on strong. The Cats look pretty decent.

I'll use the name of the school to stand for the coach in my rankings:

    1. ou
    2.Tcu
    3. osu
    4. Isu
    5.Ksu
    7.Texas
    8. Ku
    9. ttu
    10. bu (not enough data to have any idea. Aranda needs a couple of years to show)

Klieman at KSU is an interesting fit that may turn out very well. Being KSU, they were unable to attract big name coaches. Instead, they went with a coach who has had sustained strong success at lower level programs on the Great Plains - No Iowa, ND State. Probably a good move as it appears that Klieman can really coach.

Because he beats up on Texas annually doesn't make him the best coach in conference. He's not doing crap with less talent this year. If he does usually do more with less then why can't he get better players? Recruiting is part of college coaching. If he's so good at "coaching them up" it seems like he should be better at pointing that out to top recruits so he doesn't end up in this years position where they really really suck...but beat Texas again.

Good list, Chop. Fairly close to mine, with a few exceptions...

Most notable is I'd have Klieman higher
I think Gundy is overrated, though I like the guy
Still think Riley may be a bit overrated, too
    Think Wells will move up
    Think Miles will move down

As the years wear on, Patterson gets more over-rated.

Riley is No. 1 until someone can beat the guy (think B12 Championships).

I believe Gundy would go 11-1 at UT every season. However, his lone loss each year would be in the "mind-numbing" category. It would drive UT fans crazy. Of course, I'd rather ***** about one loss, than 4-5 (Herman).

Miles at Kansas hasn't done much. But last year he strolled into Austin and but for Dicker's 33 yard field goal as the clock expired, they would have strolled out with a W
I'm not going to discount the Jayhawks this year either.

I think I would chalk that up to our uncanny ability to lose or play down to any team in the country.
