Texas was behind by 15 and 14 to Tech and OU, respectively, with 5 minutes left to play. I guess the coaches then told Sam to run around and make plays. So brilliant it worked. Other than that, not much in the way of winning via planning.

Okla. St. shamelessly copies the traditions of other schools. They do the paddles like OU. They do the guns up like Tech. They do the waving of the wheat like KU. What's next, a cannon or a really big drum to copy us...?

    Yeah...same guy.
Same as last year, I mean... but with a year under his belt now.

To me the most interesting aspect of this game will be if we can limit their run game (both Chuba and SS)

Pressuring the QB and turning the ball over, of course....still areas of emphasis for us.

Looked to me like our secondary was as alert and aggressive as I've seem this year and had hands all around the ball for a good portion of the game...and against a decent QB in Brewer. We'll see if we can make some plays against a second year QB with that undefeated record, attention, and national ranking pressure starting to mount. OSU has been in this position many many times in the past. I will be shocked if they end up in the Playoffs and a little surprised if they end up in a NY6 from this point.

    I know I'm looking all roses here....Hey, I don't know....
The team UT looked like for 3 quarters against TCU and OU could show up and OSU be for real and they could re-expose our deficiencies and Sam have to play hero to keep it close.

We'll know alot when we see how well or not they defend our run game.

I'm looking forward to seeing if the Pokes defense is for real. They've looked good... But make no mistake, this will be their toughest test so far against our offense....especially if we can establish a run game at all.

    Gonna either be a trick....or a treat.

Better find some weak spots and exploit them utilizing a RB.

If I see Keontay between the guards smash into the backs of our linemen and be tackled for a 1-2 yd loss over and over again I will know the coaches didnt accomplish what would be my primary key going into this game

If I told you there was a hypothetical Big12 team we were about to play, with a home-friendly, front-end-of-schedule-friendly slate who has gone
    16-7 vs Tulsa
    27-13 vs West Virginia
    47-7 at Kansas
    27-24 vs Iowa St

2nd game of season for Sophomore QB

    Does this scare you?

    I'm not sayin, just sayin'...

People need to tap the brakes on OSU being world beaters. They've had a very friendly schedule to start the season. Their results do not reflect being some new Big12 power broker in 2020. Good win vs ISU....but ISU is no world beater either.
I believe this Saturday will be their biggest test to date, regardless of current fan perception of UT. I have OSU slotted somewhere around the national #16-20 slot, with us right around 20-23.

Main thing is that Herman has only beaten them once in three years.

He’s clocking in at 25 percent wins against the big 3.

Yes Texas can win, but if they played 3 times, probably only 1 win. Herman’s record is quite consistent with regards to the league.

Being a tight end at Texas is as risky as being the drummer for Spinal Tap.

    “He died under mysterious circumstances”.

“But didn’t he drown in vomit?”

“Yes but you see, it wasn’t his vomit”.

    I boldly predict:

(1). Chuba Hubbard will break some tackles,

    and

    (2) Gundy will have a bad hair day.

We only have about 14,000 fans at our game (in Stillwater) so far. There were 13,800 season tickets sold (max) including students. The private suites were all sold out, so that makes bumps the average to about 14-15,000 fans in total.

Boone has a capacity of 60,000 (23% attendance right now)

He got hurt last year and didn't finish out the season. Dru Brown took over (transfer from Hawaii).

And not sure how you figured UT should have won by 16+. The game was back and forth and OSU even lead in the 4th quarter. Yardage was nearly even (498-494).

"Shut him down" was a bit much, but holding Hubbard to 3.3 ypc - barely half of his season average and his only game all year under 4 ypc - was a huge win for the Texas defense.

Texas took the lead for good with 5.5 min to go in the 3rd quarter, and never trailed in the 4th. I suspect the "should have won by more" comment references a pair of muffed punts by Texas that set up Oklahoma State for 2 of their 3 TDs and 14 of their 30 points.

Think you better check your recollection of that 4th quarter there and you will understand my viewpoint better. See Stats info above for more....
And it wasnt just my view. .but the consensus around here after the game. A muffed punt when up 21-13 with 37 seconds left in first half led to 7 cheap points before the break and another muff late in the 4th allowed them to cut a pretty comfortable 36-23 lead rather than us eat clock. This isnt to mention the going for it twice for no good reason at midfield earlier in the game...both failures. All I know is we led by 13 late in 4th and had multiple unforced errors leading to points as time expired in both halves, so...
As it were it was 28-23 at end of 3rd...then 36-23 late in 4th with chances to milk clock but instead giving them ball on muff which they capitalized for 7 to create final margin.
And not sure what your point is on Sanders, though I appreciate the correction on him not finishing the year. He was their QB when they played us (correct?) and, based on your new information, apparently has even less experience than I stated. I didn't know he couldnt finish the year last year and appreciate the info...it just bolsters my point.
I don't know what you think I'm doing here. I'm not a OSU, SS, or Chuba hater.....just a guy who thinks they may be getting a little too much pimpin these days and made out to be some big scary monster. The big scary monster for UT fans should be what we see in the mirror right now....not OSU.

Here are OSU offensive ranking currently for anyone who cares...

The Cowboys rank outside of the top 50 nationally in yards per play (5.54 ranks seventh in the Big 12) and points per game (28.5 is a good enough scoring average to be only the sixth-best scoring offense in the conference) while ranking No. 40 in the country and fifth in the Big 12 in total offense (420 yards per game) and No. 73 nationally and ninth in the league in passing offense (203.8 yards per game).

I shouldn't have said shut him down, but the story coming out of the game was that we had contained him very well relative to expectations. I watched every play of the game and it was clear he did very little to hurt us...and most agreed with this point of view after the game. He may kill us Saturday. I'm just saying he didn't last year. That's all. Saw him with a tremendous play vs ISU last week FWIW.

Granted they played half of their games with their 3rd string QB. I'm not sure that's reflective of what the Wallace-Hubbard-Sanders trio is capable of when all healthy.

    Stat
I understand...and that fact is definitely worth pointing out. I'm not sure it does, either....
But I'm not trying to exhibit any ineptness on the part of OSU, nor prove them incapable of living up to the hype....not at all.
I am simply trying to exhibit they are getting waaay more love and hype than I believe warranted based on actual performance so far.
They may turn out to be all that. They may wreck us Saturday. They may win out. They may light up the board once SS gets settled in. I just can't stand sports hyperbole....and you cannot find anything in their start, stat-wise or otherwise, that screams national powerhouse, world beater, Big12 Roadgrater. That's all I'm saying. Not saying they suck. Not saying they wont continue their trajectory or even improve it. I'd give anything to be where they are. So far, it looks like they have one of the better, more experienced defenses theyve lined up for awhile...though they havent played the top couple of offenses in the league and one is coming Saturday so we'll see. Also, theyve played all home games but KU...though this wont change Saturday.
All I'm saying is they are being made out to be something that frankly I do not think anything theyve done on the field this year really supports.
The betting line agrees apparently with a #6 home favorite -3.5 vs a 2 loss, ugly, unranked team whose coaches head is being screamed for.
We'd probably be favored or a push at home, even with those circumstances.
I'll say I do not like the QEwers decommitment timing...bad vibes for an already ailing team going into a key weekend...and these things do matter to those guys.

Say Mike, would you mind if I drop in on your coaching clinic next Summer? I don't care if I'll be the only one there who's not coaching Junior High or High School.

May have to rethink my optimistic tone for tomorrow. No way the two decommits today and a littnany of bad press, social media etc doesn't get to the guys at least somewhat tomorrow. I'll now be shocked if we get the W there under these circumstances. .

Fair enough. It must be the smaller stadium that makes it look more full.
