One rumor, per Klatt, is that the money now exists to dump Herman, and that he has to win out...

Is the original question "which one does not belong"?

At this point I can't imagine "winning out" is an option. This team should be destroying many opponents instead of managing to win three. The recruits fleeing is a an after thought but unfortunately we are trending the wrong way. Every week we go two steps back and one step forward.

The problem, Dave, is that there is no “team”, just a bunch of “me’s” running around.

Agreed. I think we are better off with an interim coach than circling the drain. At least then there may be some "future interest" instead of resignation that we are going to run through a season and lose to Kansas.

We’ve been talking about “winning out” for the last decade.

Could Yurcich or Ash coach this team? I’ve asked that before. To me Yurcich could and deserves the chance at least as an interim coach. If we lose Saturday, why the hell not??

I see 22 votes for Urban. My feeling is that he will not come to Austin. He is an Ohioan and his dream job was OSU. He will not come back into coaching unless he KNOWS it will be a success. And it saddens me to say this but Texas is not a successful program right now. It is in complete disarray. I just hope that we are able to turn or program around and be elite once again!

So does he have confidence in his ability or not?

Of course he does but at this point in his life he has nothing to prove. He has won everywhere he has been (BGSU, Utah, Florida and Ohio State), he has coached his dream job (Ohio State), he has 3 national championships and now has a skate job at Ohio State.. (just my 2 cents, I could be completely wrong)

Some people aren't out to prove anything. Their accomplishments are for their own self-fulfillment.

True.....thats why I said I could be completely wrong. I belong to Eleven Warriors (Ohio State forum) and there has not been one word about Urban going anywhere. Of course his name gets thrown out all the time but its hush, hush here in Ohio if any of it is true.

Sorry, not willing to sell my soul to the devil and that’s how I feel about an Urban hire. If I thought he was a liar then I do not see how it has changed. And no, I do not have the perfect alternative I just do not think it serves one well to forget the past so readily.

Yes, he does. He wants to ruin Herman's life like he perceives Herman ruined his life.

We’re worse off now than the last 10 years of trying to fix this. Travesty, travesty I say.

I actually think Urban would take this job for no other reason than to put it to the Herman’s.

He’ll come to Texas for these reasons:

He has a massive ego and at Texas, he can take a blue blood program that has fallen apart and bring it back to greatness, assuring his legacy.

He can stick it to Herman, with Herman’s assistants. That would thrill him.

He would be recruiting in the most fertile area of the country.

Texas is perfect for UM, and he knows it.

So do I, but Tom doesn’t appear to be the guy capable of doing that.

While these are the reasons, the school shysters are going to have to be creative on contract terms. All bonuses should be clawbackanle for a 10 year period if there are any issues or proven recruiting violations.

So, you really don't want to win then.... Phil Elliott talked about academics first image for Texas. I don't know what to call the "but this guy is not nice/plays dirty" thing some fans have going on, but that'll keep REAL football coaches from coming here, which is why we'll always be amongst the leaders in the country for all-time wins but less conference titles and even lesser national championships.

The SEC teams, tOSU, Clemson, USC all won titles and are where they are by running squeaky clean programs and recruiting A/B students....uh...ok...SMDH

    Zucker,

I suggested a very simple equation that is totally repugnant to Myth's agent

    $4-5 million base
    $1 million for beating OU
$1 million for winning Big XII
$500,000 for boycotting the tribute to Bowelsby's stupidity
$500,000 for a win in a major bowl
    $500,00 for making playoffs
    $1.5 for winning it all

    $500,000 deduction for NCAA investigation
    $2 million deduction for sanctions
$1 million deduction for felony arrests
$1 million deduction for sexual assaults
$500,000 deductions for players visiting tattoo parlors

Welcome to The People's Republic of Austin, Urban

Zuck, I don’t see it as a black or white issue.

Meyer has a checkered past that is certainly inconsistent with the expectations at our University. So I agree with Viper that his contract should contain behavior clauses that protect our reputation. That’s more than reasonable. My guess is that unless such clauses are obsessive, UM and his attorneys will agree. After all, when he succeeds and plays by the rules at Texas, his reputation will only be enhanced.
