I've been looking for some sign that SAM defends PEE WEE....and there is nothing but crickets....every time....
After the game on Friday he was asked about the coaching and he said "that's what everyone has been trying to figure out for 10 years"......no, Coach Herman is doing a great job and has us on the right path....none of that....
The way PEE WEE repeatedly calls our way out of winning games time after time is NOT lost on the players....

We had a deeply disliked coach in Mackovic. It was pretty good in 94’-96’. Then it went sour in 97’. I’m sure it was building before 97’. James Brown did not like Mackovic! Herman is this generations Mackovic. What came after that.......Things get better. It doesn’t have to be this way. This will be easy to turn around. Very easy!

I was at the BIG XII Championship against Nebraska and sitting on the 30 yard line.....ROLL LEFT took place right in front of me front row 15....one of the most incredible LONGHORN moments of my LIFE....there were 60K in the dome that day and 58.5K were wearing RED....it was remarkable!!! (all this in defense of Mackovic)

I agree...someone not associated with MENSA and gifted in common sense of the game of football, PLEASE!!!

I was there Tx and will never forget it. We were in the Ez and Priest came right at us in his breakaway run! Great memories.

I loved that Sports Illustrated describe the small Texas crowd and the Longhorn Band looking like a "RUST SPOT on a HUGE RED FIRE TRUCK"....
It was such a special memory that every time I think of it I get goosebumps....

Turned into a great lesson for my kids too. After the game we hung out with some other fans and lots of parents at the bus waiting on the players to come out. Was very enlightening to my three kids to hear one of the linemen, I wish I knew who, tell his momma he couldn’t come home cause he had two finals early next week. Kinda weird how it’s the little things that get to kids.

Not defending TH, but one more question to add.
With Texas up 10-0 the two absolutely boneheaded penalties that gave first downs to ISU's and led to the first TD had not occurred, would we be looking at a win instead of a loss?
Game changers like those more often than not lead to a score, and that is exactly what happened. Can't help but wonder why a personal foul after a play was over and then lining up off sides had to happen. Coaching? Yes, but those 2 players started the whole mess, changed the momentum and should feel some serious responsibility! Those players were "game changers".

Like 2nd and goal from the two and we get 3 points? That 4 points wins the game. But my biggest “what the heck” is we score 13 in first qtr, handily I might add, and then get 7 in remaining 3 qtrs? What’s with that? We lost that game more than ISU won it.

    Nash,

It's called in game & halftime adjustments. You may not be familiar with those because we haven't seen them in Austin in 35 years.

Yeah I guess Sabre, they made them, we didn’t. But honestly I think there’s more to it. I’ve watched the 1st half again and it’s sorta scary how their D blew thru our line every time it was crucial.

A&M had that problem one year, but it turned out their QB was screwing the OL's girlfriends. Akers was the first one to noticed they slipped their blocks, called to get me to go find out why.

I know that's not our problem, but we do have one of the worst coached OL I've ever seen' They have not been taught to read stunts. Two games I watched five on three, with four blocking one, one on one, and one DL running free up the middle on far more than one occasion. That didn't happen to us in Junior High

totally! I sat hear thinking...."WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF HANDING THEM THE GAME..."....you can see it like a slow motion accident happening before your eyes....

the intensity from the offense turns into everyone is out there playing in buckets of cement and we can't get going....then, penalties...then, no OL....then, our 5 star running back can't get free....it's mind-numbing to me...

Yeah, I'm with ya! I remember that day, the Husker fans telling me just before KO, "You guys have had a good season, so you'll get a descent bowl." Then came the play of the day followed by a TD and game over. As I left, I said to a quiet and stunned group of red-clad Husker fans, "Well, y'all had a good season and I'm sure you'll be invited to a fairly decent bowl." I rather enjoyed saying that.

we went down to the Mississippi to a steak house to celebrate and we were the only Texas people in there and EVERY Nebraska fan in the place made a pilgrimage to our table to congratulate us....never forget one 85 year old say we had the best team he'd ever seen a Nebraska team play and he hadn't missed a game....EVER! Great fans...

Can't believe that idiot went for it on his own 30 with the lead, and called a pass way beyond the marker, too.

Our coaching staff had done so much research into what Nebraska did when they were defending short-yardage situations and they noticed that they ALWAYS stacked the line and EVERYONE filled in to stop the run.....therefore, James Brown was given that play to run.....(JAMES BROWN is my favorite QB)...and he carried it out to perfection.

    WHAT A MEMORY!!!

Just like Mackovic, for every Roll Left there is a Rice. When he said something like, "You can't win them all" after losing to Rice it was the beginning of the end for him. That's why Mackovic got fired and for similar reasons why Tommy is getting fired.

Barely beat Iowa State 44-41. Mackovic questioned about high score (for that time) and responded "wasn't that a great game to watch?". Man, he loved offense.....
