Seems like with the end within reach, more and more Herman stories are bubbling to the surface. One today is the he and the wife took a program booster's plane for vacation down south. They boarded drunk, got into a screaming fight in the air with Mrs H trying to open a door open at 35,000 feet.
    :idk:

Well, if you know you are going to be posting that the minimum requirement for the job is to have won national championships at two different schools, you are pretty safe tying up the deal.

So, just posting random derogatory gossip now about a man's personal life and his wife?

We’ve already lost all of our 2022 recruits, so how does this hurt the program?

That’s all that matters. For $5 mil a year, he isn’t guaranteed to be free of innuendo. A married couple accused of having a drunk argument isn’t that big of a deal, even if true. If Herman had taken care of all the other stuff that matters, no one would give a ****.

Herman has done a terrible coaching job here but no way that story is true. I took it as a joke. He wouldn’t go on vacation before a game. Right?

Perhaps he is already on permanent vacation? Maybe the vacation was not this week but during the off season.
Actually, I'm resigned to the fact Herman will be here next year.

Back to reality for a bit:

A D1 football coach needs to realize that he gets paid Millions every year to make smart decisions for the program and for his players. This was Ehlinger’s and Cosmi’s senior year. Herman’s decisions in the three losses this year directly impact their take home money in the draft. I do not begrudge Cosmi’s lack of commitment to Herman or Sterns’s. Sterns will see the same hit in pay because he’s coming out but it could be worse if 2021 sees less success. These players saw Tom call for the 4th and 1 when we needed a FG. They also saw Tom allow a 40 yard incompletion when we needed to burn clock and move chains.

Not sure why I assumed it was recent......Wouldn’t be surprised if it indeed happen.

TH and wife are in the public eye, like it or not.

Joe is generally pretty discrete with this kind of info. You got anything serious to dispute what he posted that is out there?

I don’t know first-hand anything, but the most believable position is that Tom wouldn’t be taking a vacay when he has a game to coach this Sat. Even if he were fired, he would not have organized a vacation 3 days after his firing.

The incident in question was not from this week. By "today" I meant it was one of the stories making the rounds today

Would be funny if Meyer did show up in Austin tomorrow and they have a news conference with him sitting at a table, with two caps laid out, one Texas, one Fox Sports -- "I've decided to take my coaching talents to ___"

As a footnote to my previous post regarding Tom’s decision-making, Ehlinger should also have realized a 40 yd pass attempt when you need to burn clock and move chains was not the best option and looked to see if yardage was available on foot.

Or throw a shorter pass......Sam is to blame too....He had chances to tuck and run and pick up yards and didn't on so many plays.

Some Burton from today, looking ahead

I spent some time looking into possible hires of Urban Meyer at Texas.

One name was brought to me from an Ohio State reporter that was interesting.

UCLA offensive coordinator Justin Frye was a GA at Florida and worked for close Meyer friend Steve Adazzio at Temple and Boston College. Frye also coaches the offensive line which would more naturally allow Meyer’s son-in-law Corey Dennis to take the QB coaching position.

Does this mean Meyer to Texas is definitely happening? No, of course not. But it’s a peak into what Meyer might be thinking.
