Disagree. Aliens was just a shoot em' up in outer space. Alien was one of the best horror movies ever and a real trend setter; first female to be the heroine and lone survivor, the monster design took it to a whole new level, the funky space ship was a like a haunted house in outer space, and, of course the monster popping out of the guy's chest was/is one of the most startling scenes ever filmed. No contest.
HIC, please repent at once. Your mortal soul is in jeopardy. Godfather (original) is a classic almost untouchable. It sits in rarified air, atop the mountain.
Agreed, much like Smokey & the Bandit, Blazing Saddles (or any Mel Brooks movie), and The Blues Brothers
Great guy caught in the middle of other messy coaching changes (sound familiar?) He might be the personification of “good guys finish last”. The Miami cotton Bowl fiasco told me something. The short stint and bad Lubbock exit was ugly as well. Texas should have hired him before he went to Tech, if they wanted him. You would know more about that than me. I was glad to see Texas keep him around.
Bevo, you are just too young. I witnessed 1-9 in 1956. The next year a little known young coach by the name of Royal came in and went 6-4-1. Two things. It can get worse. And it can get better. Unload your guns. And have a Merry New Year. There is some really good single malt out there. I suggest those from the Speyside region.
The Dirty Harry sequels were a big drop off from the original, but Magnum Force was still pretty good. Beverly Hills Cop II wasn't bad.
McWilliams was coach during my college years at UT and yes he seemed like the nicest guy who was just way in over his head. From what I understand though losing the Texas job may well have saved his life and he has been an incredible asset for Texas in the 29 or so years since in various roles.
I met him in an elevator Tx-OU weekend 20 years ago. Very friendly and genuinely nice to my family. Stayed in lobby talking to us for 10 minutes.
We will always be looking for this little known, next DKR. For whatever reason, Matt Campbell strikes me as that type of coach. We will know soon, when he (soon, somewhere) has a shot at the big time.
I’m so done with Texas sports right now, I had no idea that game happened. I have a great employee and friend who is a Tarheel. I just kidded him that in 2020, we are a basketball school and UNC is a football school. He then said “Roy is 1-8 versus Texas.”
House of the Holy I didn't care for too much. Liked the others. I and II were the best. Physical Graffiti was good.
I know, I know...just the mere cinematography and story lines in II. Trust me, I am an original aficionado.
David was/is a Lifetime Longhorn. He is loved by all. When he passes, grown men will cry. But stepping into the cesspool/dumpstefire/most disgusting and shameful days of what had just happened in the world of the Big Money Boys, an administration that had no involvement in the Department and DeLoss not yet having the power he would yield a decade later and beyond, David was perhaps the most uniquely unqualified quy to have possibly stepped into that cluster f**k. Just as Mack was the most uniquely qualified quy to unite the warring factions, stockpile talent and create a frenzy at the box office.
