That's BS. Now we can throw out the possibility of beating baylor. Without Ebo this team will finish where it has for the past 5 or 6 years. In a distant 2nd or 3rd.

I wouldn't go that far now. Baylor’s guard play is not like it has been in the past & the way our defense plays will cause a lot of disruption in Baylor’s system. They are not the team they have been in the past. With or without Ebo, I guaranteed you that they are very beatable. Ebo is not done yet. The ncaa is still going to meet before or on Dec 16th to possibly grant everyone eligibility to play this year so Ebo is not quite done for the season yet.

I respect your optimism but baylors best unit is their inside play with Egbo and Smith. And we know Charli has a habit of getting in to foul trouble. Ebo was so important because she would have allowed Charli to play her face up 4/ a more finesse position which IMO she's more comfortable with, and take pressure off of Gaston. With rebounding troubles and the guards not shooting the ball well from the perimeter this team is going to struggle IMO against better competition.

I remember reading many years ago that UT's compliance department is just bad when it comes to dealing with the NCAA clearinghouse. Hard to remember a single player in any sport who has received a waiver or won an appeal of any sort. Not sure if any of that has changed, but it sure doesn't seem like it. I think every other Penn State player who transferred this year and applied for a waiver had it granted, including those who transferred within the B1G conference.

I really do think it's our Compliance department who lacks in certain areas.

I guess we will see but I think we have a chance. Egbo & Smith are great players but Collier is better. The way Baylor runs their defense will put Collier in many one on one situations which she will win most of the time or either draw a foul. The way Warren plays, she can draw a lot of offensive fouls on Egbo because she uses all power. That may be easier said than done but I have full confidence in our team against Baylor. They are just not the same team they have been. The way we play against A&M will determine how well we can play against competition. Don't forget Ebo is not officially out just yet. We could have her back by the time we play Baylor and if that's the case then I really like our chance.

I don’t know if any has heard the news but Ebo was officially denied by the NCAA her wavier to play this season. It’s really sad no matter what the reason is the NCAA who claims to always have the interest of the student athlete failed her. With all these other kids getting waivers I don’t care if it was they fault or the admin fault they failed the kid here and it’s so disappointing.

Yes it's ridiculous. Then you see all these other waivers get granted right after her. Out of over 70 waivers, there is absolutely no reason that only 3 should have been denied. Everyone should have been given a waiver since nobody is losing eligibility. It's very stupid & frustrating considering some transferred within conference and were still given a waiver. Hopefully the ncaa does what's right and vote to let everyone play in this upcoming vote but how they treat these athletes I wouldn't guarantee it.

My only question is that since Ebo was denied, does she still get that extra year of eligibility? Would her junior season not count against her next season so she would still be considered a junior two seasons from now?

As mentioned in another thread. This year will not count against any athlete as long as the school has the $$$ to support them for another year of coarse. Consider this a " redshirt" year. But a redshirt year in which they are allowed to play.

Yeah I understand that but since she is not allowed to play this season, will her year of eligibility not count against her next season. Or will that only apply for players who are playing this season. So she could possibly stay 3 more years with Texas after this season. I know it depends on scholarship limits but if given the option would that be allowed. Basically could Texas decide if they wanted to use that extra year whenever they decide or is it just for this year.

Well, I guess one way to look at this whole situation is the fact that D. Gaston is going to have to play more earlier, which will give her even more experience sooner than we thought. I think we will struggle with teams like A&M, Baylor, Tennessee and others that are big and physical without D. Gaston and Charli in the game together. Maybe sometimes we'll see Audrey at the three with Celeste at the two. That's a pretty solid, physical combination with Gaston and Charli in the paint. Right now it's just a matter of Gaston getting experienced enough to be able to play in those situations for long stretches. She definitely has the size, strength, and skill set. I'm excited about the possibilities and how this team develops.

Precious is good for 5 fouls...not sure how many minutes that'll translate to...

Yeah you can tell she won't get a lot of minutes which is why it's so important for Collier to stay out of foul trouble against teams that do have good size bigs.

It would be our luck that they wait until after we play aggies & Tennessee to give Ebo a waiver:brickwall:

The NCAA needs to do the right thing to correct this foul-smelling waiver mess.

While I'll be elated to get Ebo eligible, especially in time for conference, I can't help but be pissed off over what has been (I'll say it again) pure ********! Games against Aggie and Tennessee would have given her valuable minutes in preparation for Big XII.

In the high likelihood that the universal transfer rule passes Wednesday, Ebo will be available Thursday against Kansas, then Sunday against K. State. Then Lamar so the first really challenging game will be Iowa State on Jan 3. Several good games to get Ebo transitioned into the rotation. It will be interesting to see how Schaefer uses her. Off the bench probably early. A very little later, perhaps moving Collier to the 4 and more outside work seems likely. Ebo allows Collier to use her versatility more and not just as the only post presence we have. The strength and threat inside, not to mention the 5 additional fouls with our bigs will allow all to play more aggressive. I am under no spell of high expectations from Ebo but the above seem to indicate a significant impact on how the team plays.

K state is also a challenging team only because they are a pretty good team with Lee back. If this waiver gets passed it would be amazing to have Ebo available against K state because Ebo and Lee have fairly the same type of build so with Ebo guarding her then it would take a lot of pressure off of Collier & will allow her to do more on the offensive end.
