Yes. I am 100% in favor of taking care of the DACA kids. But this sieve on the border has to be slammed shut and I'd tell all the DACA kids that until we see the elimination of sanctuary cities, the pull-back on demands to get rid of ICE, a wall and in general, total support from the Left to enforce our immigration laws that nothing will happen.
I understand that point of view and e-verify might kill the supply of available jobs but so many work basic jobs and seeing them smuggled through South Texas ranch lands is part of the reason for the wall.
Just FYI for everyone: ABOUT E-VERIFY E-Verify is a web-based system that allows enrolled employers to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States. E-Verify employers verify the identity and employment eligibility of newly hired employees by electronically matching information provided by employees on the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, against records available to the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). E-Verify is a voluntary program. However, employers with federal contracts or subcontracts that contain the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) E-Verify clause are required to enroll in E-Verify as a condition of federal contracting. Employers may also be required to participate in E-Verify if their states have legislation mandating the use of E-Verify, such as a condition of business licensing. Finally, in some instances employers may be required to participate in E-Verify as a result of a legal ruling. E-Verify, which is available in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, is currently the best means available to electronically confirm employment eligibility.
I agree with Deez (that's like three times now). I'm not anti wall as much as I don't think it's an effective, long term solution. It's window dressing. End the demand by e-verify and penalizing employers. Given that the pandemic has us shut down to some extent 2021 would be a great time to do these things.
I'm good with e-verify being mandatory. But how does it work for small business such as cleaning services or restaurants? Is it inexpensive?
Do you really think that coyotes who are getting paid a few grand per illegal immigrant won't figure out how to circumvent a wall? Of course they will. In addition, what are the odds that a Biden Administration will continue building a wall when his entire party has been self-righteously and religiously calling it racist for five years? No chance in hell. They'd kill him if he sold out on that. What about mandatory e-verify? That's a lot harder to oppose. And which would do more to solve the problem? A wall that be circumvented and does nothing about approximately 40 percent of illegal immigrants (visa overstayers) or e-verify, which would put virtually every immigrant out of a job?
It's been a few years since I implemented E-verify at midsized and large companies (a 10k employer with 3k US ees, a 75k retailer) but it averaged out to ~ $25 for ad-hoc manual submissions. That's less than a credit check. For large companies they have very reasonable yearly integration support costs which allow a company to connect it to their HR or Applicant Tracking System. It's run by the federal government so they aren't looking to profit off the service, unlike the credit reporting agencies.
My costs estimates are "all-in" costs. There is an extensive amount of training and administration for HR to remain in compliance with the program. So many that if a company hires ~1k annually in the US it makes sense to leverage 3rd party tools to help the administration. As of 2018, E-Verify charged a $5k annual fee for integration support costs. 3rd party tools administration tool add-ons can run $25-$50k annually.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer supports former Vice President Joe Biden’s plans to force schools receiving federal funding to accommodate students’ who want to use bathrooms, locker rooms, and play sports with students of the opposite biological sex. “Joe Biden said that on his first day of office, he will give transgender students access to sports, bathrooms and locker rooms in accordance with their gender identity in federally funded schools,” a reporter stated. “Do you think he has the ability to do this and do you agree with his decision?” “I agree with the decision and I know he’ll check things out thoroughly, legally,” Schumer responded. .@SenSchumer: “I agree” with @JoeBiden’s plan to mandate transgendered people can choose the bathroom, lockerroom of their choice in schools pic.twitter.com/2vNIlQmT3j — Tom Elliott (@tomselliott) December 1, 2020
Biden is going to put Susan Rice (yes, that Susan Rice) in charge of "White House Domestic Policy Council" However, her only domestic policy experience is spying on Americans.
To add to that she has proven she can look into the eyes of Americans and speak bald face lies. It is a great resume for what Biden needs from her.
Too bad, I would just pepper her with Libya questions Maybe leave a large picture of Chris Stevens up the entire hearing
Seems to me like you need The Wall and E-Verify. With just E-Verify, they get in, but can't get jobs. I suppose the theory is that with no job, they go back home. I think it's more probable they just settle in on welfare.
Prosecute employers. The laws are on the books already But Dems want more voters and the GOP wants cheap, pliant labor Nothing will happen Get used to it
The problem with this is that welfare is harder for an illegal immigrant to get. They can get some through their kids but not likely enough to make a living or to make it worthwhile. It also somewhat goes against their culture to go to great effort to be total wards of the state.
I bet Biden is praying that Republicans win at least one of those Ga seats so he can blame them for not packing the courts.
