Was it played? Did any players notice?

I wonder if TH and CDC hope this tradition dissipates with no one noticing.

The EoT band issue won't go away when fans return (hopefully back to normal) in the Fall

Seems a lot of posters around here don't care. They tune in and watch the games anyway while they display hypocrisy complaining about this issue. "They better stay for The Eyes or else!!!" BS

Typical of Americans these days. Bang the drum and cry about something and then just go about business as usual status quo.

This win against a crappy CU team already has posters questioning how Herman can be fired after 4 winning seasons. Pathetic. 4 winning seasons. Who gives a crap besides stupid HF posters and other hypocrites who have been beaten down the last decade to think a winning season and winning a meaningless bowl game while watching the main rival win the conference again and again equates to job security for the head coach.

Not me. As long as Herman is the coach, I'm not a fan of this program. And, if a new coach comes along and players can opt out of staying for The Eyes, I'm done. Anyone saying they will still support that, is not a fan in my eyes.

I'll expect poops from the usual dolts around here who poop this kind of post.

It is a false dichotomy to claim that one's only choices are
    1) Care about the issue and boycott the games
    2) Watch the game while not giving a damn about the issue at all

If that makes you feel good while you tune in, I'm glad to hear that.

It doesn't make me feel any particular way good or bad, it's simply accurate.

Well, we'll just disagree on that, and that's okay.

Stat, not to tweak you but I have to ask, if someone — perhaps an employee or a “friend” — throws you under the bus and never “genuinely” apologizes for their actions and never acknowledges the error of their ways, would you be inclined to simply forgive and forget, and proceed with the relationship as though nothing had happened?

I wouldn’t. I would never again trust that individual, and I would do everything possible to separate them from my life.

This seems like a loaded analogy, which makes me hesitant to answer - because I have a suspicion that my answer would be taken as the answer to some other question that you believe this scenario is a fair stand-in for.

And without knowing the specifics (the general vicinity is clear enough) I don't know if I will or won't agree about this hypothetical scenario being analogous to the real one.

Stat, you are a wise man. In essence, you're not agreeing to the minor premise without knowing what the major premise is. Debating 101.

You guys aren’t going to break out singing Hallelujah soon, are you?

“It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth

The minor fall, the major lift

    The baffled king composing hallelujah”

    BTW. I sucked in debate...

Enjoyed our win and Okie state’s

but I am a football fan so anything makes me happy

    hope the OU wins tonight.

did the Eyes get any attention/participants last night?

when I sit my fat butt in the seats I’ve had for 36 years next season (skipped this year) I will be singing and hope the band is either playing or disbanded.

Agree with everything except OU winning. OU winning is NEVER a good thing. yea, the aggs will claim a moral victory, but who really cares. But with Florida short their 3 top receivers and Pitts, figure OU wins by 14. If we can't beat them, I'm all for anyone else that can. Gator chop tonight.

EoT was played at the end of trophy presentations and balloons were dropped. Fans in my area sang it but I couldn’t see any players paying any attention to it, fwiw.

I actually felt like the Alamo Bowl did a better job with the Eyes of Texas than has been done at Memorial Stadium. They waited until after the trophy presentation and release of the balloons. It seems it was rushed in Memorial Stadium, but not at the Alamo Dome. If players didn't show up for it, it is probably because they didn't expect it to be played. Hell, we were getting ready to walk out, when we heard the recording start.

Even though I don't like it, I'll give the players a pass on it; the band gets no pass except to burn their uniforms and transfer to somewhere more PC, like maybe the Home Economics Building.

Thanks SabreHorn and nashhorn for answering the question. Thread went a little sideways.

My feeling is the band issue will be put off until post-Covid, or as long as possible by CDC.

WRT the players and post-game participation, what frustrates me is Herman’s way of removing accountability from the players and acting as if nothing happened.

I understand a discussion was to be had, but Herman just took it on his own to abolish the tradition.

I went to the game and enjoyed watching Texas whip Colorado. Never liked them or their fans. We had a great time.
    A few observations:
Colorado is a slow bad team with a really bad starting QB.
Colorado fans are still drunk and obnoxious although only to the end of the third quarter and then they are gone.
There was no singing of the Eyes of Texas prior to the game. The people around us were debating whether or not to just start singing it and then music was pumped in that would have drowned us out.My opinion is that the failure to have it set up to play is another CDC failure. CDC should have had it set up as the Alamo Bowl would not have a problem with it. Same thing with playing the fight song more. Colorado seemed to have a better handle on it as they were getting their song after first downs. Who was at the controls?CDC fail.
Good news, bad news: Johnson’s td run in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter . was unbelievably good, the bad news is the td cost me the Hornfans bowl prediction contest.
Head scratcher: Why was the score 17-10 at half? I kept looking at the scoreboard and thinking it should have been 31-0. Texas took care of the scoreboard after half time.
We have a lot of talent with speed.
The younger Ingram is really fast.
I think Card is the better QB, but it is nice to have two quality QBs.
Great way to end the year.
    Happy New Year!

I forgot to add I have never seen a game called over with time left on the clock. Maybe it has happened, but I cannot remember it happening.

I was afraid this would be another 4th quarter, whoever has the ball last wins ball game, for us. Entire 2nd quarter was lackadaisical (Play calling was **** - where did Bijan go?) and usually we have 2 quarters of that kind of ********. Luckily we broke form this time.

I hate to say it bug the change at QB was the needed spark. Sam was out of sorts and injured and I’m glad this time he pulled himself.

there is absolutely nothing from this game to lead you to believe Card is the better QB. In fact Thompson's play was the best we've seen since Colt left. Maybe Card is better, but certainly can't tell from this game. 10 passes does not a career make, so we'll have to see.

I like both QBs. I am just of the the opinion that Card is a better horse to bet on long term.

Isn't the EoT sung "after" the game, not prior to?

    Both.
Could be there is a poster that is one of the group that shows up after kickoff carrying nachos, drinks, popcorn, beer and other assorted sundries blocking your view of the game while precariously holding said items over your person. I am sure members of that group do not know the EOT is sung prior to the game.

The Eyes of Texas is played before and after every game. This better be fixed soon.

CDC and Herman both need to go.
