Per Michelle Voelpel of ESPNW today, Schaeffer was selected national coach of the week. His presser caught the attention of Voelpel......just like it did us.

Coach of the week: Vic Schaeffer, Texas

Vic Schaefer is known for his enthusiastic support of his teams. He showed that last Monday after the Longhorns won 62-52 at Kansas State. Texas went up by 22 points with 2 minutes, 42 seconds left in the third quarter, but the Wildcats got the margin to five with less than 6 minutes left in the game.

Afterward, Schaefer -- in his first season at Texas -- could have harped on the Longhorns for letting the lead get whittled down. Instead, he focused on them re-grouping at crunch time on the road and winning by 10.

"They're my kind of team, my kind of kids," Schaefer said. "They showed tremendous grit and toughness tonight. When we kind of got knocked back on our heels a little bit, we didn't flinch."

One of many reasons Vic is so popular with his players in spite of the grueling workouts.

SMU just cancelled it's season. After an 0-6 start it's probably a great move by Travis in order to attempt to get a second chance in the last year of his contract.

I know this is off-topic, but does anyone know what's up with the NCAA volleyball season? Over? Postponed? I can't find any information on it.

My understanding is after volleyball ended in the fall with the BIG 12, SEC and a few others played a reduced....perhaps about 1/2 normal schedule.....the second half would start in perhaps Feb or March. The PAC12 and BIG10 didn’t play in fall so they might do a full schedule in spring. Then all would roll into a final tournament. Or perhaps it was just bad Tex-Mex.

No fans again for the Sunday game. Kind of pisses me off. No one is within 20 feet of each other
With how they have the seating currently. If your high risk stay home but, let the fans who want to cheer our team on in person go to the game. Sorry, I hope I don’t sound like and a hole. I just want to see my horns and always have a ton of fun going to the games.

You don't sound like an ahole at all! You sound like a grown person who should be able to make your own choice. Thank you for your common sense!

And this is exactly the reason I did not get my season tickets this year. Too many variables. I knew at some point it would not be worth it this year. Hopefully next year will be different.

Austin is RAMPANT with Covid...Team has already had issues with canceling games, and you want to increase that risk because YOU want to go to the games? You DO sound like what you alluded to....”really?”....(P.S....FWIW, some people at games are not wearing a mask at all times...)

I sympathize with you. I feel safer at the games than, say, HEB. (Recently went back to curbside delivery.) But I thought about the employees at the game. They come into contact with more people and have less control over maintaining distance.

Anyone know what's going on with Ebo?? She was not at the game and is still not with the team. I hope it's just a quarantine due to contact tracing and not other issues going on.

have you even been to a game this year? Everyone is wearing a mask at all times except when they take a bite of a hotdog or take a drink. I have not seen one person sitting there without a mask on in the FEC and if there was the staff would tell them to put it on. It’s a very controlled environment and everyone there staff and fans have done a great job keeping it that way at every game this season.

Yes, and no, that is not entirely the case, there have been some people not paying attention for the whole game, going the wrong way up stairs, not really distant, etc., and mask off for a period of time (talking, not eating/drinking)...yes, they have tried to do a great job, but it is not 100%, it’s just NOT...the check in people are at risk, for sure...but it’s an unfortunate situation, no matter what your stand on attendance is.

Texas has been doing an excellent job with their virus protocols in my opinion leading up to the last two games. No need to justify yourself to that d-bag post BBV made. If they wanna stay locked up in their house, that’s there opinion. You shouldn’t be criticized for your opinion. Hook em!

Austin is under Stage 5 protocols. Fans require staff to be at the doors, scan tickets, offer concessions, clean bathrooms, operate security scanners, etc. We are lucky to still have a season at all and I think, so far, they have done a good job at giving us the option of watching on TV or online. And yes, I have been to a game this season, and no not everyone kept a mask on at the A&M game. Can’t speak to other games because I’ve been following the advice of my friend who is a doctor at Dell Medical School. Stay home. It’s just not worth it. We are in the final minutes of this thing - let’s keep it together until we beat it.

How exactly are you going to beat a virus?

To be fair, I think they mean get in under control. I just hope it gets to the point where our cases go down drastically and we can start filling up these stadiums slowly until we are back to normal. I don't think it's going to completely disappear but it would be nice to control the spread.

You beat a virus by rendering it less efficient. You make it harder for it to spread. For now the best way is physical distance. In the future the best way will be through vaccinations. But considering this is a thread about the 2021 Season I’ll go back to the original point of the thread. Under Stage 5 Protocols, the city is asking us to decrease crowd gatherings whenever/wherever possible so as not to put unnecessary strain on our hospitals and healthcare staff. I’m glad they decided to go without fans in the stands rather than cancelling the season.

Just a reminder to us all as this virus issue threatens to erode some of our natural good natures:rolleyes1: and snap our last nerves: ** Notice to the WBB Forum ** | Hornfans

I would hate to lose this forum sniping over COVID19.

EDIT: I can tell people are trying to be reasonable and stay within bounds but at least one reply felt a little to close to "getting personal". If you think I am being over reactive, have a heart and blame it on COVID!

“D-Bag”? Really, quite RUDE....I only pointed out that while UT IS doing an awesome job, protocols are not 100% followed in the FEC (as well as in Austin in general)...and, while you are at it, you may want to use proper spelling when posting...

Here’s the deal. I’m here to talk basketball. Not see you call people a$$holes for their opinions. So, yes I’m gonna be rude to you when you’re rude. If my spelling is off, please forgive me. We’re not all as perfect as you obviously. Now, as I said in my previous post, it’s back to basketball. Have a great day.
