I expected this. I have been saying she is a Baylor lock for about two years now. Not really upset since we have Aaliyah Moore but I will say, expect some big commitments for the 2022 class comings sooner rather than later
Would not be surprised if we go more national this cycle. I would expect a bigger in Tx haul the next cycle. Vic is full of surprises so I expect a "wow" recruit at some point.
I wasn't expecting to land Sa'myah Smith as we offered her so late (compared to her teammates who were offered by our previous staff), but surprised to see Texas Tech make her final five; of course, one of her teammates is committed to Tech. Still, she's been all Baylor on social media for quite a while.
Just like I (and others) predicted about Betts going to Stanford. I forget how "early" Stanford issues their acceptance/admission letters, but this seems pretty early compared to what I recall in the past. Perhaps she is an exemplary student and received super early acceptance to Stanford.
I can’t see anything other than an Instagram placeholder but if it’s about Ta’Niya Latson’s finalists...sorry for the double post.
Noticed that Coach Lovato recently started following Alisa Williams on twitter and Instagram, and vice verse. She is a 6-2 W, Braswell HS (Little Elm, TX) who committed to TCU on 8/5/2020. But, on her twitter page, there is nothing (verbiage) indicating that she is still committed to TCU (even though she might be). Do see a photo from when she committed to TCU. https://twitter.com/alisawilliams_?lang=en
Coach Lovato also started following 6'2 Wing, Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda out of Sioux Falls, SD on Instagram.
Duncanville post player. No evaluation notes, but "ranked" a few spots higher that both Smith and Howard from DeSoto. kiersten-johnson
Very interesting that a recruit from Chicago has zero B1G schools among her final five choices, and those 5 are all from the south (yes, Louisville is considered the south).
FYI -- Elena Lovato's twitter account was hacked recently. Guess she created a new one. So, a lot of the "new" accounts she may have started "following" may have already existed in her prior account, and aren't "new" follows on her end. On the other hand, those she's following via her new twitter account may just tell us some of her current focus.
This is sad and from what I have heard, it happens a lot when DeSoto plays but this was on both sides. Two powerhouse teams like this and they act in that way is not a good look to college coaches. That scholarship can be taken away just as fast as it was given
DeSoto won 69-60 but had a 19 point lead in third quarter. The 3 bigs for DeSoto were too much and all had big games. Two players were ejected and one fan who came out of the stands to join the fight was arrested.
Very curious to see who our first 2022 verbal commitment will be. I'm guessing recruits are still not allowed to take official visits; so, that might delay things compared to years past with any out-of-state prospects seriously considering Texas.
The DeSoto vs Cedar Hill game has been canceled by DeSoto. Recently DeSoto and Duncanville had a brawl with fans coming on court. Then 4 Duncanville players plus coach being suspended and unspecified sanctions by DeSoto administration. In earlier game, there was a physical altercation between DeSoto and Cedar Hill. DeSoto chose to cancel siting an abundance of caution. Don’t know who is most at fault but the common thread seems to be DeSoto. Sad that the good kids get saddled with some of that.
The problem is DeSoto. Many teams have actually told DeSoto administration they would not play them unless they were talked to prior to the game by campus police and administration. That is very sad for a high school team to be acting like that. Seems to be a coaching problem since it keeps happening. The last fight against Duncanville Unfortunately was with Texas target Amina Muhammad. Although she did not start the fight she did swing on the other player from behind. Not a good look to coaches when you have to cancel a game due to risk of fighting. Just not something I don't like to see
DeSoto ISD is getting or continuing with a bad name. Perhaps the girls basketball program is just another example. In the last 2 years, there has been scandals with the superintendent resigning, financial mismanagement, school board fighting, having to cut about 275 teaching positions, etc. Kids are not isolated from that and it just may lead to what is being seen on the basketball court.
Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda a 6’2” prospect, attends Sioux Falls (S.D.) Washington. Missed this from November; noticed it because she recently started following Coach Lovato (original twitter account), and vice verse.
if you watch closely, it appears that she is a lefty as just about every layup or short hook shot was finished with her left hand. I like that.
She sure would challenge my spelling. In checking, ESPNW ranks her #3 forward and #24 recruit in country for 2022. Also listed as 6’-1” but Mooo’s video shows she has the bounce to play much bigger.
