Baylor: Hired Chansi Stuckey (Clemson player development) for WR coach; Hired Ryan Pugh (Troy OC and OL coach) for OL coach.

Hot ticket DCs to watch for a possible move: Barry Odom (Ark), Marcus Freeman (Cincy), Jim Leonhard (Wisc), Tosh Lupoi (Atlanta Falcons DL), Jay Bateman (UNC), Brad White (KY), Chris Kiffin (Cleveland Browns DL), Ryan Walters (Missou), Jim Knowles (Okla St), Josh Conklin (Wofford). Is Ash is let go, he'll join the list.

Speaking of LSU OCs. Joe Brady, who I think is only 31, just interviewed with the Texans for the HC position and they say he killed it

About the same age as McVay when he was hired
I think Kyle Shanahan was 37 or 38

Could be something from the background check? Personality conflict? Pugh found a better gig?

I dunno, but if that was a problem for Baylor, it could have been easily discovered in the search—ya know, like before offering him the job. BYU guys are often Mormons—go figure. Now if, after the offer, he said he would never do any work on a Sunday for any reason, ever, that may be an issue.

Who knows. Maybe he made a pass at the head coach’s wife or something.

Baylor normally requires all employees be Baptist, and that is a requirement of the HC.

As a private Church school, they have that right. It’s just that they should have figured that out before offering him the job, taking his acceptance, and making the announcement.

It's Baylor; they think everyone that isn't Baptist has horns and a tail.

Monday: Press release: Notre Dame has hired Chop as the new S&C coach. Coach Kelley stated: “After taking one look at his forearms and checking out his awesome definition, I knew he was the guy.”

Tuesday morning: Chop flies to South Bend, signs the employment paperwork, and checks out some cute coeds wearing sweaters.

Tuesday at lunch: Coach Kelley and Father KirkPatrick take their new S&C coach to lunch. Fr KirkPatrick: “Chop— you say the blessing for this food. Make it a Hail Mary.” Chop: “Uhhhhh. How’s that one go?”

Tuesday night: Press release. “Notre Dame will not be hiring Chop for the S&C position after all. The Irish have decided to go in a different direction (i.e. towards the Tiber). We wish Chop the best of luck in all his future endeavors.”

Yeah. They don’t even like the “other” kind of Baptist there at Baylor.

Hey now. You must be forgetting Vatican 2, to say nothing of the 30 years war.
    :beertoast:

Aside, just for you—if you ever want to blow a hard-core Protestant’s mind, show him/her that most of the Hail Mary is taken directly from the Bible.

    Alright!! A name that tune!
"Incense & Peppermints" by the Strawberry Alarm Clock came out in 1967. The partial lyrics are:
    "Incense and peppermints, meaningless nouns
Turn on, tune in, turn your eyes around
Look at yourself, look at yourself, yeah, girl
Look at yourself, look at yourself, yeah, girl, yeah, yeah"

Got that song on my iPhone. One of my oldie favorites.

Not to quibble, but to me, “hard core” means sincere and serious and putting the work in.
Under my definition, any “hard core” Protestant could not be surprised by something so prominently at the very beginning of a gospel book.

Practically every Catholic ritual is straight out of the Bible; the likely legitimate criticism from hard core Protestants is that many/most Catholics are reciting things they may not understand.
So, the Protestants you are describing, who are criticizing Catholic traditions just because they are Catholic, aren’t really the knowledgeable ones.

In a state of delirium, he accidentally checked into the Catholic hospital. The Rx was indeed incense, peppermints, wine and holy water--and shouting 10 Hail Marys followed by singing the Notre Dame fight song.

(the italicized part was the most difficult and painful)

    Get well soon!

I'm no theology expert, but perhaps we should do a theology discussion in the Quackenbush forum. This was all just silliness inspired by Baylor's rather odd decision regarding Coach Pugh. Hmmmmm, my sentence above brings to mind the method of just how the Bible was inspired...

Mostly, I was interested by the point you made, and wanted to talk about it; not bothered.

    Wait,
    You saying:
    Praying the rosary
    Pergatory
    Worshipping Mary
    Confessionals
    Worshipping saints
These things come from the Bible?
No, these are traditions of men not God.
But I don't think we're are on the right thread for this.

Interesting points you make there. The theology thread is now open in the Quackenbush's forum. That's probably the best battlefield on this website to re-fight the 30 Years War...

    (channeling my "inner Dion")
But, wait a minute, wouldn't channeling be New Age...? :rolleyes1:
