Interesting that Biden would open borders up and Europe is considering ways of tightening theirs.

E-Verify should have been part of Trump's strategy. Now we have essentially no wall and every Exec order will be rolled back in the first month. If he had pushed for E-Verify early on, we would have had 4 years to prove that it works and to blunt the criticism that it has too many false positives, etc.

I agree, everify should be mandatory
But we do have nearly 500 miles of new hard to breach wall with built in tech advances that alert if someone tries.
And much of the wall is in key areas.

I could be wrong but I highly doubt Biden will stop any wall building that hasn’t started. He will say something like the contracts are already signed, costs more to reverse, etc. It’s his administration’s overall approach to immigration that is of concern.

450 miles down, more on the way

President Trump fulfilled a promise to install 450 miles of border wall along the U.S.-Mexico boundary by the end of 2020, according to the country's top border official.

Construction workers put up the 450th mile fencing in the final days of December, acting U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan said in a private call with several reporters Tuesday morning.

"Myself and the deputy commissioner, leaders here, we found out about it — we were briefed on December 31st that we had actually reached the goal and we had accomplished what we set out to accomplish," Morgan said.

"I remember every time that i said with confidence that I without hesitation that we were going to accomplish this goal by December 31st," Morgan said. "We were going to put 450 miles of steel and concrete along with all the essential attributes of the wall system December 31st. We were challenged and a lot of people didn't think we're going to be able to do it. ... That is a remarkable achievement."

Facts: Trump's Border Wall: Where Does It Stand? - FactCheck.org

"According to a CBP status report, the U.S. has constructed 438 miles of “border wall system” under Trump, as of Dec. 18. Most of that, 365 miles of it, as we said, is replacement for primary or secondary fencing that was dilapidated or of outdated design. In addition, 40 miles of new primary wall and 33 miles of secondary wall have been built in locations where there were no barriers before.

So the footprint of the wall is 40 miles longer than it was before Trump took office."

Apparently, their is a need of 1,000 miles of real new wall. At 10 miles per year he needs to be president for almost another century to complete this project.

    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

First, FactCheck.org is a left wing organization. When is the last time they fact checked Joe Dementia?

Second, considering that all border wall was constructed against the legal and illegal opposition of the House of Representatives, it was a major accomplishment to get any of it constructed.

Third, will Joe Dementia/Kamala Legspreader actually follow through with their promise to tear down the wall? Stay tuned.

Directly from the 12-18-2020 CBP report linked from Factcheck.org.

Biden never promised to "tear down the wall" either. He said he'd halt construction, not tear down the walls that have been constructed already.

    Very Good Bubba!

Now, if they built 1 mile of wall each year, how long would Trump have to be in office?

Take all the time you need to answer. This is not a timed test.

WTF good is a wall going to do without anybody watching it? They'll just build ladders and climb over it.

    It's a waste of money.

Instead we should have border patrol towers every 5 miles along the entire length of the border, manned 24/7, using infrared optics and ground sensors.

We've been over this. The walls are manned and have sensors in many areas. The efficacy rate is 90%.

The efficacy rate is the small areas where there is a wall could possibly be 90%....IF there are motivated wall-minders doing the other patrolling necessary to make a wall effective. Walls without motivated wall-minders (guards) are practically useless. If Dem's decide to scale back CBP then the walls become paperweights in the desert. Trump may have had the right intent but his execution was terrible. At the end of the day, he gave the left tons of "xenophobe" click bait without having much to show for it. It was poorly planned and poorly led.

As I stated before, the wall is an effective tool. Obviously, if you don’t man the wall it is less effective. A car is an effective means of transportation, but only if there is a driver. An electric guitar is cool, but only if someone knows how to play it. A fighter plane is effective, but only with a skilled pilot. There was nothing wrong with Trump building a tool that was 90% effective. As far as what the left thinks, who gives a shi- besides others in the left? They are just looking for more voters by creating federal dependents, and illegals fit that bill.

That sums up the philosophy of the Democratic party. They want to create more people who are dependent on the handouts - under the theory that the recipients won't bite the hand that feeds them.

    Nonsense.

Border walls/fences only work if there are people there to defend it.

I guarantee you Trump's hooligans could breach that "fence" in less than 5 minutes if it's left empty.

If you really ever thought Trump was going to deliver on "Mexico will pay for it" full wall across our southern border, you were just fooling yourself. The planning for our immigration issues should have been more realistic from the start. The POTUS and his support staff should have approached this knowing full well that eventually democrats were going to be back in charge and should have anticipated efforts to undo it.

The reason we still have Obamacare is that the democrat strategists anticipated Republican efforts to undermine it and came prepared to fight back. At the end of the day, Trump's minimal wall accomplishment will be washed away in a matter of weeks. Trump may have had the right intent but his plan and execution sucked. Trump's 40'ish miles of new wall are the definition of pyrrhic victory.

I know you boys aren't this dumb. At least I hope so.

The fence is being built at a 10 mile per week rate.

452 miles of new border fence has been built, and another 200-300 are in various construction phases. When you tear down a crumbling house and build a new house, would you say that you have a new house? I thought so. The same goes for an ineffective fence that was torn down and rebuilt. The new fence is much more effective.

The wall is very effective. Check out the results:

In 2006, the U.S. Senate voted in a bipartisan 80 to 19 majority to pass the Secure Fence Act, which authorized construction of physical infrastructure to secure the border. Securing our Southwest Border was once a bipartisan issue.

Neglected, easily compromised, and sparsely constructed, the border fence concept needed a reinvestment in 2017

Today, CBP is constructing a border wall system which includes a combination of various types of infrastructure including:

    • Internally hardened steel-bollard barriers from 18’ to 30’ high
    • New and improved all-weather access roads
    • Perimeter lighting
    • Enforcement cameras
    • Other related technology
The border wall system deploys the right mix of personnel, technology, and infrastructure to meet the challenges of a dynamic border threat environment and ultimately achieve operational control of the border.

The results speak for themselves: illegal drug, border crossings, and human smuggling activities have decreased in areas where barriers are deployed. For example:

    San Diego Sector:

    • In one short 12 mile section in the San Diego Sector, the wall reduced CBP manpower requirements by 150 agents every 24 hours. That is approximately a $28 million return on investment per year in salaries and benefits. These agents were redeployed to fill resource gaps in other areas of the border -- further improving our security.
    • CBP’s San Diego Field Office continues to be a significant source of narcotics seizures. From FY 19 to FY 20, seizures of fentanyl, marijuana, and methamphetamine all increased, with meth seizures jumping at alarming rates in the past several years – demonstrating that the border wall is forcing drug smugglers to where we are best prepared to catch them – our ports of entry.
    Yuma Sector:

    • Illegal entries in areas with new border wall system plummeted over 87% in FY 20 compared to FY 19.
    • In FY 19, CBP deployed a temporary barrier, which it has replaced with a permanent system, at the Sanchez Canal, which resulted in illegal entries decreasing in this area by more than 1,000 per month.
    • In FY 19, in areas of older existing border fencing or barriers, Yuma Sector apprehended 12 large groups (over a 100 persons) compared to zero large groups in FY 20 with new border wall system.
      • Family Unit entries have decreased over 95%
        • FY 19: 51,961 vs. FY 20: 2,940
    RGV Sector:

    • In a section of RGV (Zone 1) apprehensions have decreased since the construction of the border wall system. This is a location that has never had any border infrastructure.
      • CBP has seen 79% decrease in apprehensions in this area (Zone 1) since the completion of border wall system.
      • CBP has seen a 26% decrease in narcotics seizures since the completion of border wall system in this area.
    • In another section of RGV, prior to construction of the border wall system it was common to see illegal aliens running across a heavily traveled road, putting themselves and members of the community at risk.
      • Smugglers are now forced to take their groups further west into areas that are less dense with brush and easier for CBP surveillance cameras to detect illicit activity.
    El Paso Sector:

    • El Paso Sector has experienced a significant reduction in drug and smuggling activities in areas where the new border wall system was built.
      • Most notably, in Zones 14 and 15 of the Santa Teresa (STN) AOR where apprehensions have decreased by 60% and 81% respectively when comparing the last half of fiscal year FY 20 to the first half of FY 20.
    • El Paso Station has experienced similar results from the new border wall in Zones 20 – 23, with a reduction in apprehensions of 70% during the same timeframe.
Of course the Democrats want to stop construction. The wall is limiting entry for their future dependents and potential voters. At least that is their thinking.

Now that you have the facts, what other ignorant drivel would you like to spew?

This has been covered many times
Here is what Obama threw down so he could say he did something
Yes, actual walls were built in place of this crap
It is wholly dishonest to claim the latter as merely an "enhancement" of the former
But then honesty part is not something you actually care about is it?

(This is what you and Obama called a border wall)
