Everyone was given an extra year of eligibility so she is still considered a freshman. I don't think she will get to play this season because she transferred within the conference so by the time she gets time on the field she will be a sophomore.

Isn't there an exception if the coach from Tech (who was fired) and now the new coach at Tech gives the okay?

Add to that if she says the reason she left Tech just after one year was due to the coach.

She could but I don't think it's going to happen. I wouldn't expect her to crack the rotation this season even if she was eligible. They are probably going to just focus on her development and get her ready next season

No thoughts on the two scrimmages held yesterday? [and replayed a couple times on LHN]. Okay, here goes (also for those who don't have LHN)
    1. Elish held out due to "landing foot" recovery, has brunette hair now, so took a while to recognize her behind a mask. She was charting stats in the dugout
    2. A few players were wearing the same uniform number, I think I saw a "10" in white and a "10" in burnt orange, which made identifying them difficult because...
    3. They were wearing masks in the dugout [good job!] and some uniforms like "10" didn't have their names sewn onto the back. Just blank
    4. I _think_ Cassie Roche the transfer from TLU was on crutches. They were talking like she was a SS candidate
    5. Which leads to seeing two players at SS: Lauren Burke and Brianna Cantu. Cantu has a strong arm, which led her to throw a ball TOO hard and miss 1st base
    6. Burke did good, but she doesn't have the typical charge-the-ball action when a ball is coming to her
    7. Saw 4 pitchers. In order of how well they did: Adams, White, O'Leary, Day
    8. Saw 4 catchers: Sullivan, Ellsworth, Marder, Smith
    9. On second: Nae-Nae and Corona
    10. First: Sullivan, Parker
    11. Day muffed two balls on the ground in right field. I've seen Mike be unforgiving in Fall ball come Spring
    12. Whitaker can hit long and surprisingly slap
    What you got?

Please don't start with that nonsense talk about putting the horns up. It's getting old. Nobody on the team is seriously injured besides the Cassie Roche. Jacobsen, Elish and Washington are not serious injuries to the point where they will miss any time in the spring. They will all be 100% and ready to go.

In the mail today from Athletics:

We are looking forward to another exciting year of Texas Softball! To help us provide the best gameday experience at Red and Charline McCombs Field this year, we would greatly appreciate you sharing your decision for attending 2021 Texas Softball games.

McCombs Field will be seated at a reduced capacity for all home softball games this season. Based on safety requirements mandated by the NCAA, Big 12, health officials and The University of Texas, there may be significant changes to your seating location and not all season ticket holders may receive tickets for the 2021 season due to reduced capacity.

We are doing the best we can to keep you as near as possible to your usual seating location. Please note that we will seat season ticket holders in their Loyalty Point Rank order.

Please finalize your 2021 season ticket decision through the below link by Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. Central:

Same story as football. Our "assigned" seats were actually better than our "regular" seats.

Lol we will see games played it's just a matter of how many. I'm just waiting for Texas to release a schedule since the season is less than 3 weeks away lol I need to start planning which games I'm going to attend if they allow fans

Cases will be minimal in Texas starting in March. Everyone over 65 will be vaccinated by March 1. We will be in good shape.

That's good for the people 65 & older but they are not the reason this virus is out of control. It's everyone else who are being careless causing this virus to constantly rise. I just hope everything goes down sooner rather than later so we can all get back to being in the stands & watching the horns play

A physical impossibility as that means everyone over 65 in Texas has to have their first dose within the next 7 days. Dallas County alone is having trouble even setting up places for the shots. They have two places now that max out after 500 shots a day.

Good point. I was thinking of first shot. By the way, every senior I know is signed up to receive their first shot before end of January.

The models show cases dropping for everybody by March 1.

I hope that is the case but when you say dropping, what do you mean by dropping? How many cases are expected a day by March?

Since baseball drives the conversation for the Big 12, I guess we wait for baseball to finalize their play schedule and then softball will announce their schedule shortly after. Unfair, but that's the way it typically goes. Baseball also considering 4-game series.

I saw this coming. Just based on her tweets and her not following half the team it just seemed she wasn't happy anymore. This really is a huge hit for us because I honestly don't know who our Ace is now. Hopefully O'leary steps up.

A bit stunned. You think it was pandemic and health related? Or I don't want to be on this team anymore?

It was for sure about her not wanting to be on the team anymore. I have been saying for months she won't be playing. All signs on her social media indicated she would not be playing. I guess she wasn't happy anymore and everytime she was with her girlfriend she said she was the happiest she had been in a while so covid had absolutely nothing to do with her opting out. I guess she just wanted to move on with her life. I just wish she announced it sooner so Texas could have had the opportunity to get a transfer pitcher because I know a top level pitcher would have easily saw that news and took advantage of it.

"Thanks for playing for us" I think it's safe to say her softball career is done unless she decides in the future she wants to play pro. Just a huge blow to our pitching staff. Adams, Day or White are going to have to step up to fill that 3rd spot.

Okay. I wonder why the wording wasn't "I'm going to retire from softball and get on with my life"? But she gave us 2 good years, so she's got the right to move on with her life. Bummed.
