Looks like Sark has done it again. Here is a little synopsis on his performance at Washington; UW allowed 35+ points under Pete Kwiatkowski just five times since he joined as DC/co DC in 2014 2014 - 3 2015 - 0 2016 - 0 2017 - 1 (35) 2018 - 0 2019 - 1 (35) 2020 - 0 That's some pretty amazing performance against the likes of Oregon, USC, and Cal. These teams pretty much operate like the OU's and Techs of the Big 12 by utilizing the Spread. So this really looks like a great fit with a PROVEN 6 YEAR TRACK RECORD! Way to Go Sark! Hook'EM!!
In the first bit of the video below, the reporter gives the pronunciation of his name: Kwy (rhymes with "why") - at - cow - ski It's pretty close to "Quiet - cow - ski" This cow is being very quiet as it skis down the slope... (remember that and you can say his name right)
On The Horn they are saying "Key-Vee-It-Cow-Ski". Or maybe it's "Key-Veet-Cow-Ski". It goes by fast so hard to tell.
Texanne will provide expert guidance when she gets a chance. No NICKNAMES until we hear from Texanne... OK?
Well, here's a distant relative from the NHL, with the NHL's pronunciation guide. * IGH for long I (as in time) KWIATKOWSKI, Joel....OTT..........kwiht KOW skee HockeyDraft411 - NHL Pronunciation Guide Ottawa - Washington More: this one more like Kweet - coff - ski Some at UW were calling him "Coach K". At 0.50, 0.51, 0.52 in the video above, some UW guys say it sort of like: "Quit - Cow - Ski"
Your homework is to go through the online White Pages of Cheektowaga, New York and Warren, Michigan and pronounce every name.
I haven't seen anything on TexasSports.com about any assistant hiring or news? As a matter of fact they're still showing everyone from Herman's staff but Herman on the football coaching staff, so appears they won't do anything until all hiring is done and contracts signed?
IT had an update from a Zoom call that Sark did... - said he's excited to add Kwiatkowski because he's a "pain in the ***" to coach against, raved about his development of players and his evaluation/recruiting ability. - mentioned Gideon and Joseph as DB coaches. - it appears the final staff spot will go to an LBs coach, and Kwiatkowski will coach on the DL (edge rushers)
Great scoop for TFB. They made this call last night and had sat on it for 24 hours before that. About the hire: HOME RUN – How many times have we whined and complained about our inability to make half time adjustments? Kiss those days good bye!!! This guy excels in game planning, mid-game adjustments, and PLAY CALLING. His weakness is recruiting but given a couple of years of success, his defense should recruit itself here at Texas. Nevertheless, he is surrounded by good recruiters on defense. He is innovative. This guy should have been the first name out of the hat, IMO. I know we pined about Muschamp and others, but Sark could not have chosen a better DC.
If only this turns out to be true... If only... We can hope... And we'll soon see... What I'd love to see: His players tackle well His players put a pass rush on opposing QBs He makes halftime adjustments (Tom's teams didn't do that except for the last game or two of the year) The above deficiencies from the Tom Herman area made up at least half of our frustrations. If Coach K can fix these, he's most of the way there. Early reports make it sound like the hiring of K was a real coup.
And now for the obligatory mandatory reading/watching for any new defensive coach on the 40 acres: From early reports, it appears he's already seen it. I suggest Coach K skip the Manny __iaz seminar this Summer in Miami.
Indeed I've always been of the mindset as a leader you bring in folks that are a lot smarter than you, empower and support them, and get out of their way. That said, if you're always the smartest person in the room (or think you are, right Tom?) that doesn't necessarily work. Sark appears to be doing a very nice job of this, which makes him pretty damn smart in my book even if he isn't certified Mensa.
I didn’t realize Dave Wannstedt was in television doing Washington Husky player interviews on FB DAWG TALK.
Is it just me or... if you've got a coach that constantly makes "great half-time adjustments", then what you've really got is a coach that doesn't gameplan well for your opponents the whole week prior to the game??
