Drew Pearson to the Hall of Fame! One year after breaking his heart, the Pro Football Hall of Fame opens its doors to Cowboys legend Drew Pearson
"Until they induct Drew Pearson, the HOF is just another building in Canton". Michael Irvin circa 1997-98
The HoF watered down the WR position honorees by getting Lynn Swann in there without hesitation... a guy who averaged 37 catches per season and had a couple big David Tyree style grabs in the Super Bowl. That should have opened the floodgates for guys like Pearson. It's very strange and telling that Harold Carmichael got voted in last year but not Pearson. The main thing holding Pearson out was the fact that he kept doing his own little campaigns to get in each year. Then, there would be the incendiary articles about it, usually including some kind of quote from Pearson about the lack of love/respect. If he had said "peace out" to the HoF back around 1992 when the Cowboys got good, he would have been let in on the next ballot.
