Horns look to salvage at least one win in the State Farm Classic as they take on Ole Miss today at 2:30 p.m. Burnt Orange Nation has following about today's game: Game 3 - No. 6 Ole Miss Monday at 2:30 p.m. - FloBaseball.tv/104.9 FM The Horn RHP Kolby Kubichek will make his fifth career start for the Longhorns in their series finale against the Rebels. The sophomore started twice for Texas last season while making a total of four appearances on the mound, compiling a 2-1 record with a 2.79 ERA. Kubichek will duel against Ole Miss RHP Derek Diamond (2-0/3.48 ERA) on Monday.
Horns fall behind in top of first and trail 1-0 in the bottom of the second. Horns get runners to second and third with one out and then predictably next two batters strike out. Texas seems absolutely intent on trying to set a record for strikeouts this season and is off to a helluva start in that chase.
This team has a serious strike out problem. 18 vs MSU, 15 vs Arky and 7 already today. That's 40 strikeouts in 21 innings. I know they didn't get to practice at all last week, but geez, that's awful!
All that hype David Pierce was giving and that's how they come out. I get they didn't get to practice for a week but these 3 games looked like we have been on lockdown with no practice for over a year. 43 strikeouts and 4 runs scored the whole weekend is absolutely ridiculous.
