Some names that had offers from the previous staff (PG Jada Williams, PF Rylee Grays) and are being followed by multiple members of Vic’s crew and former/current/future Longhorns, especially Jada Williams. Williams is familiar with Texas through Sug and associate head coach Dionnah Jackson-Durrett was also a St Louis PG who had success in the Big 12 - plus Williams seems like the kind of PG this staff really likes.
Doubtful but then I thought the younger sister was more of a volleyball prospect than basketball - didn't even notice her name on the list.
According to twitter, PG Jada Williams out of Missouri is being followed by Coach Vic, Johnnie, Dionnah, Ketara Chapel, and Dominique Dillingham. Interest must be serious as Vic rarely follows anyone on twitter. Jada is following Ketara and Dominqiue. Maybe others, but I couldn't tell for sure.
They recruited Rylee Grays (and Jada Malone) heavily while at Mississippi State, so it makes sense that she will be a top target for ‘23. I haven’t seen an offer yet, but I would love to see Chloe Clardy emerge as a top target as well. She plays for Cy Fair EYBL. There is also a 6-1 wing from Mississippi, Madison Booker, that Vic offered while at Mississippi State, who is top-5 by a few services.
Offered by the previous coaching staff and she had an offer from Vic at Miss State but I guess this makes it official:
Just a short few hours after Baylor offered Also picked up a Notre Dame offer a few days ago. Jada has an incredibly strong social media presence and lots of connections to players in the area. Competition will be tough, but seems we have a great shot.
If this social media thing comes through where players make money off there image I honestly do think that would be a great selling point in trying to recruit her since it is the university of Texas and nobody is better. She could make a lot of money (the right way) being at Texas compared to Baylor or notre dame. Not dismissing all the great things Texas has to offer but that could really put us over the top
Saw this tweet about Dalanna Carter but it doesn't look like any of the Texas coaches are following her on twitter.
ASGR releases their Top 50 for 2023. I would think Rylee Grays and Chloe Clardy are two of our targets That 6'8 girl from Flower Mound could be worth keeping an eye on: 2023 ASGR Top 50 National Player Rankings Are Now Live: Judea Watkins Starts At No. 1 @Jujubballin | ASGR Basketball
I found this video after you mentioned her last week. Pretty good movement for that height and age but swipes down at the ball on too many of her block attempts; good touch around the basket. The obvious comparison is Nancy Mulkey but she seems to move a bit better than Nancy did in high school.
Mark Boutilier, father of 6'9 Abbie out of Flower Mound really seems to "like" a lot of Texas basketball related tweets. Vic is following pretty much the entire Boutilier family on Instagram. Hope those are good signs. https://twitter.com/mboutilier2004/likes
She is a lock for Texas! believe me, they have been Texas fans for as long as I can remember. It was just a matter of getting the offer.
I got a chance to go to the San Antonio Reagan vs Austin high game and it was one heck of a game! I will say our staff needs to take a look at a couple players from Austin high because they shut down Baylor commit Sammie Wagner until the 4th quarter. Reagan came out on top 60-55 but refs played a big part in that as Austin high was leading by 12 until the refs got involved. Reagan center Christeen Iwuala who this staff is recruiting is very aggressive and can rebound the heck out of the ball. She is a bit wild and does play lazy at times but she is very aggressive. Will be a steal for whichever school she commits to.
I've watched them all year long and Jade Is a great player who can finish with both hands very well. She can also shoot the ball but doesn't get a lot of looks from 3 but I think that's just the way her coach plays her. In this game Jade started out hot but got in foul trouble early so she really didn't get the minutes she normally does. As I said the fouls that were called were bad calls that weren't really called for both teams but Jade definitely has game especially since she is only a sophomore. Being in foul trouble really took her out of her zone and I think she needs to tighten her ball handling a bit but other than that she is a great player who is a D1 lock
As of yesterday, the staff has had no contact with the Reagan HC since taking over at Texas. That tells me that there hasn't been any genuine interest in recruiting her or flipping Wagners commitment from BU. KU, OSU, OU, Miss St and UGA have all recruited her quite heavily to date so there are some decent odds she could stay in the B12
I was just about to say I could see her at Texas Tech or Oklahoma. I don't see Texas going after Wagner. She is a great player but a bit slow on both sides of the ball which really doesn't fit the system Vic runs. She can shoot the lights out the ball though so she fits Baylor style of play very well.
Cedar Park's school colors are Black and Green; so, why is there a burnt orange Nike swoosh on those new sneakers?
