I'm wondering are the people who write these articles actually watching Charli play?

She’s averaging 23 point and 13 rebounds per game.

I don't know why that's so special when no one else on the team can score. I'll take Mack, Smith, Gray and probably a few others I haven't seen play over Charli.

Which, to me, is why Dallas seems to be an odd destination for her - the Wings spent the #2 and #5 picks on stretch-4s last year (Sabally and Alarie).

As much as I don't want her to go. I think she needs a lot more growth before she makes the jump. I can't blame her if she does. The reason she came to Texas instead of UCONN is she wanted to stay close to home. What better scenario for Charli to go to Dallas and stay in Texas.

Good to know that so many of you know more than WNBA and other industry professionals. Charli is making those stats playing against the same teams as Mack, Smith and Gray etc.

Never did I think this board would s**t all over one of our own getting such high praise in her chosen profession. Looks like a couple of you have formed a circular firing squad. This is a new low in my book.

Those of you who want her to stay because we don’t want to lose her - I agree. Those of you who think she’s not good enough to go pro... :rolleyes1:

I don't want Charli to go because she's so valuable to our team. I also don't want her to go because I want to see her get the full benefit of developing as a player under this staff. I admire how much she has improved under them so far, but I think she still has a ways to go before going up against the WNBA post players. I'd rather see her enter the WNBA ready to make a huge splash instead of still needing a little tooling at the collegiate level. However, if playing close to home is her priority, then I couldn't blame her if she left early for the chance to play for Dallas. Either way I'll be wishing her all the best.

I don't see why Charli is projected over Nylissa Smith. I want her to stay and get better.

What's really low is getting your panties in a wad because someone disagrees with you. What does that say about you? Second, who sh(*^(*ng all over one of our own? I have yet to see that. Third, who thinks Charli isn't good enough to go pro? I certainly haven't seen a post claiming that. Or do you just create sh*& because you don't like other people's opinions?

Fact, Vivian Gray is probably the worst of the players I mentioned and her scoring and rebounding is almost as good as Charli's even though she's playing on a team with much more balanced scoring. What would Charli's numbers be if Gordon played for Texas? On top of that, Gray has twice as many steals and 50% more blocks. Yes, despite Charli having a 4" height advantage and playing a position that generally gets more blocks, VG still has 50% more blocks. And VG was just named B12 player of the week.

And as far as my previous post, you need only look through the thread to find the posts I referenced. And please, continue to get all upset and post your opinions about my post. It’s a free country. I posted stats which, as you know, aren’t opinions so clearly I wasn’t upset about anyone disagreeing with me. My follow up comment speaks for itself. Charli is getting national recognition and I find it mind blowing that some Horn Fans want to take that away from her and bestow it on players from other teams. Now that’s an opinion and you are welcome to disagree with it. Wad heal thyself.

And as for Vivian being the the Big 12 player of the week. Good for her. Charli has had that honor as well as National Player of the Week multiple times.

You're certainly the one upset and acting like a spoiled 3 yr old since you started it with your firing squad and S**^ on players comments. I'm certainly not upset. I actually agree with a lot of things you say and have never attacked you in any way. But Charli is highly overrated, period. Potential won't give her success in the WNBA. Maybe she needs to learn how to play the game without traveling rather than getting her panties in a wad every time the refs call her for traveling.

Right now Charlie's WNBA draft stock is based on her potential. She still has a way to develop against other posts her size who are more physical than her.

Who is dishing on Charli and who isn’t? Substituted dishing for sh**ing. Does that help?

Everyone is free to their own opinion and I respect that. That being said, it is CLEAR that may of our posters either don't watch or do not understand how pro basketball and the WNBA work defensively relative to college BB. It is clear to those that do how Charli's skills would translate immediately. **That is not intended as a dig, I am more so providing insight into how you can look at how the pro scouts are projecting her game at the next level** One helpful thing if you get the spare time would be to go back and look at how teams defend her. That has more to do with her production (or lack thereof) rather than the level of talent she is facing. Using the BU game as an example, on about 80% of her touches she had 3 people around her. When she did post up, BU usually had 4 players with a foot in the paint. They did an excellent job of crowding her and almost exclusively with a player fronting her or playing whats called "quarter coverage" where you play on a players hip so you can get a hand in front so that the guards have to make a very difficult post entry pass and/or limit the post players primary move/countermove. Thats why our guards had so many good looks, we just didn't get shots to fall. Rewatching the game I was genuinely shocked at how many open shots we missed because during the game it felt like BU was playing outstanding defense (and they were, just not as good as it felt in realtime). Saying all that to say, she would never see that kind of defensive scheme at the next level. She would be covered almost exclusively 1:1 and in that scenario she excels. The first game in Stillwater where Mack gave her some fits stands out as the lone exception all season of her struggling vs a single defender. And even in that game she saw a lot of "crowd coverage".

Would she get better if she came back for another year? OF COURSE, but she is ready now and she deserves our full support in exploring her options. I also encourage our fans to think about how a #1 pick and pro Charli could be an unbelievable asset to the university. She has the makings not only to be a star on the court but to be a very visible presence on various platforms off the court as well. Those are some recruiting tools that money cant buy

I wasn't sh$$$ on Charli. I understand all the different perspectives shared.

I was really wondering if they watch her play. Dallas doesn't need a stretch 4. So her going #1 to Dallas is doubtful. I feel a big trade about to happen if she does go #1. She would be better on a team with a veteran 4 so she can watch, learn, be schooled and come off the bench.

I'm in her corner either way. I just want the young lady to shine and I wish her well. Y'all know I love me some Charli but some games she drives me to drinking margaritas and eating chips and guacamole. But it's all good.

Hey Cynt. You simply asked a question which I answered with stats. All good. A couple of others on here feel like the national recognition she is getting should be redirected to players on other teams.

A number one draft pick is determined by which team has the first pick, what they might be looking for and who would be available that year. It’s pretty impressive that she remained at the top of the list even after the top pick passed from team to team to team. Charli in Dallas would be amazing, but I hope she stays.

Awesome how you can determine how others here feel through the internet using a keyboard. Can you tell us how you do that? I don't think anyone else on the planet can do that. You should be getting national recognition. International recognition. That's pretty special.

Sure. It’s called emotional intelligence combined with literacy. It’s really not that uncommon. Hope that answers your question.

Also, Vivian Gray had an impressive 28 / 6 stat line in her last outing. Not quite a double double but celebratory for Texas Tech fans none the less. If I knew the Tech equivalent to “Hook ‘Em”, I’d share that. Go Viv!

My apologies to fellow HornFans who are tired of this particular back and forth. Sometimes they just tee it up so nicely, it’s hard not to swing. I’ll stop now. Congratulations to Charli for receiving such esteemed recognition from leaders in the sport. Very proud of her. Hook ‘Em!

As for Tech: It’s “Guns Up”...and I think you have some salient points in your posts, but as you know you cannot EVER silence the “nattering nabobs of negativity”....it is what it is....

Charli is a junior that is eligible right now because she will graduate with a BS in May 2021. And..... she is of age to be drafted. Smith is not graduating this year. 2022? and she is not of age.
