Got Texas Tech tomorrow at 11 am. Game will be on CBS. Let's hope team builds on second half momentum against KU.

Maybe, but I think that 5 for 35 from 3 and 0-9 in OT would suggest otherwise.

Didn’t watch the game but have seen enough of this team to know what they’re about.

They have to hit 3s. They were doing a very good job of scoring in the paint and built up a lead. Then Tech switched to a zone and the game ended as Texas could not make 3s to loosen up the zone. Also Brown has hit a wall.

Has he hit a wall or does he not care anymore knowing he is gone as soon as the season is over?

I've said all along Shaka's teams all live and die by the three. You also perfectly made the point I've been trying to articulate but clearly not getting across. Tech made an adjustment to shut down the outside shooting and we just kept doing the same thing even though it stopped working. Either he has lost the team and they are ignoring his directions or he is incapable of identifying the problems to make in game adjustments. Neither is a recipe for sustained success.

What you and I both wrote are observations and not criticisms. I personally can't see Tech make an adjustment and us make no changes then say "darn, we just couldn't overcome going cold. Maybe next time we'll make them". There's more strategy to it than that.

Seems like his level of play over the course the season has declined to the extent that he is now not a lottery pick.

Sure, a late first rounder makes a ton of money, and will get you on a team where there will be coaches that will help him improve his play. But he will sit the bench.
Playing in Europe will give him lots of minutes against very good, tough competition, as well as help him learn the professional game.

I would like to see Brown stay here, and play a season under a coach who emphasizes fundamentals that would help the Texas BB program and help him learn how to play with discipline at a high level.

I think it's kind of the same as Myles Turner. I know Brown loves Texas and will do whatever he thinks he can to succeed, but he also knows the writing is on the wall for what's left of his career here. He's trying to show his speed and agility without any regard for control, shot selection, etc. He knows that someone will take a flyer on him to harness that speed and mold the athleticism into NBA-worthy.

Turner was more of a "if Barnes doesn't like how I'm playing, I just won't play" kind of guy, but with a similar goal in mind. He knew that once he was out of Austin, he'd have more of an opportunity to grow as a Kevin Garnett style player with NBA coaching and resources.

So you're a fan of NIT championships? What is your estimation of Shaka's high point?

    Another Longhorn victory!

    UT 81
    ISU 67

We're getting our momentum back, and working up our inside game in preparation for the conference tournament. Kai with 17 points, Brown with 12.

Just noticed 23 point loss for Michigan tonight and Baylor needed OT to beat WVU. OU on 3 game losing streak heading into our game, but they did have 2 consecutive losses to OSU. I think OU is better than OSU, but sometimes a certain style can be tough for one team to beat.

Some early fouls and bench time. Never got into the groove. Kai and Brown more than made up the slack. Kai had what was probably his best night of the season.

Is there a realistic path to #2 or #3 seed in B12 with wins over sooners and froggy to close out the season?

Big 12 tournament, Schmig 12 tournament. We’re going to the Big Dance and the Sweet 16 and beyond! I’d hate to be the #1 seed in our bracket-pity that team.

I really admire your ability to have such blind optimism. My brain just works differently and wants to break down every detail. Sometimes I wish I had the ability to just overlook things with complete optimism.

I'm with you on football. For basketball, I just have to have fun with it. I have no room for the negativity.

Is it negativity or observing the dirty details? What you see as negativity I see as looking into and talking about what really happened and what should happen to improve. There's nothing negative about that, it's just the facts. When I'm on here talking about performance I'm not typing angrily or anything like that.

Many of my managers will not investigate the smoke because of the fire they might find so they ignore it keeping them artificially happy until it suddenly blows up in their face.

I have never subscribed to the belief of just letting things go and have been driven in all aspects of my life to be constantly improving and never satisfied for long periods of time.

I can't remember the last time I criticized a player on the court. I believe the players perform how the leader leads. Shaka has now be here almost 6 years and is barely over .500 and that's not the team's fault, it's his and he needs to go. I see that as an observation, but you clearly think talking about a .500 record and coaching change is negativity. I think it's a difference in view points and I just think my approach is much more productive in the long run. :smile1:

I don’t see how a Top 15 team and Sweet 16+ (you watch) equates to basketball failure at UT. Shaka is doing a fine job.

And what’s more, I enjoy being a fan and watching the games.

You see 15-7 as sweet success because of how poorly we've played the last few years. With this talent Texas should easily have no more than 3-4 losses. You can accept the extra losses and I see a team under performing.

Maybe my standards are too high but I expect high standards. I played on a high school basketball team that lost 7 games in three years making it to the state semi finals twice and the round of 8 once. I was pissed for years we never won a state title but finally had to let it go. So since I have been a kid that's what I expect from the type of talent we have on the court now.

I enjoy watching the games too when they play to their talent level. I sure as heck hope they beat OU by 20 tonight!! :hookem:

I would say ever fewer than that. This team has more talent than Baylor. The sloppy play and lack of discipline is completely unacceptable.

Wait. So, it' okay to criticize and be more analytical of the football team but not the basketball team because some posters don't like that? Is that right?
