We’re taking on ISU. A big victory against another hapless conference foe will get our momentum back. After this certain victory, it will be off to the races for the conference and national tournaments.

    Go Horns!

Nothing to worry about here folks. ISU’s early lead is sure to erode as Shaka and the Horns shift into high gear and cruise to victory.

Horns taking control now. Good job Shaka and team!

The entire sporting world is focused intently on this critical game.

Out to a big lead now.

Brown and Kai both with 9 pts. Good blend of guard and forward scoring.

Good job, Chop. I was hoping to find a live stream here. Horns still got a couple of more tough games with OU and TCU both on the road.:bevo::bevo:

Kai really stepped up his play tonight.

Other than too many turnovers, there's not much to dislike about this glorious conference victory.

And, as usual, a marvelous job of preparation and coaching by Shaka.

No access to the game tonight here in Chicago. Sims had 0 rebounds and 5 fouls?!?!

Sims got some early fouls and sat for a while. He never got in the groove. Kai more than mad up for him as did Brown.

Ok, I really tried to pass by this comment but I just can't let this slide by. I am happy we did what we are expected to do, but ISU is 2-18. South Dakota State beat them. There was no masterful game planning involved. With the talent this team has we should have won this game with no coaches on the bench at all.

You don't get named to the elite group of 15 top coaches being considered for the Naismith Coach of the Year award unless you're a really good coach.

Agree!! Shaka is way to far into the Texas coaching relm to get a pass. Not sure why in year 6 of shaka where we are consistently around 60% wins that anyone would be ok with this. I really think most people expected more out of this team and that falls on the coach.

I admire Chop for his optimism about this team, but unfortunately he has gone way over the top toward supporting Shaka every chance he gets. We will get this coach of the year nominee stuff the rest of the year after every win because he's trying to make a point to all of us who can see what's going on and "don't support the team". There's no sarcasm in his post at all.

Unfortunately we are paying premium salary for walmart results. Guessing chop would still have charlie strong too who was a nice guy but a terrible coach.

Charlie Strong was in over his head.

Shaka Smart is nothing like Charlie Strong. He's built a top notch program, and is at the place where we can reload rather than rebuild.

Charlie Strong had nothing but losing seasons here. Charlie Strong = losing seasons.

Shaka Smart has had 4 winning seasons in a row. He's a proven winner. Shaka Smart = winning seasons.

And the sporting world recognizes this. Shaka Smart is a Top 15 coach--see Naismith award nominees. Even the announcers last night (non-UT affliated) were talking about what a good coach he is.

    Here are the facts:
Mediocre is not what most people call a winning program (Overall .555 just barely winning record). Last season we were tied for 3rd and this season we are 4th.

Texas Longhorns (Big 12 Conference) (2015–present)
    2015–16 Texas 20–13 11–7 4th NCAA Division I Round of 64
    2016–17 Texas 11–22 4–14 10th
    2017–18 Texas 19–15 8–10 T–6th NCAA Division I Round of 64
    2018–19 Texas 21–16 8–10 6th NIT Champion
    2019–20 Texas 19–12 9–9 T–3rd Post-season cancelled due to pandemic
    2020–21 Texas 16–7 10–6
    Texas: 106–85 (.555) 50–56 (.472)

Barnes last year at Texas was not good but the others were very good. Records dont lie. Texas took a step down with shaka.

6 years and a losing record in conference. That says about everything there is to say. Even TH did better than that.

His best year was with Rick Barnes leftovers. With the most talented and experienced team in a long time I just hope he can make it out of the first weekend....or maybe win his first NCAA tourney game since he arrived.

Has Shaka not won an NCAA tournament game at Texas? Good grief. Let’s defend our NIT championship.

Not sure there will be room in the new area for another NIT banner.

Lipscomb is better than in 2019 too and we are not the rollin' ball of butcher knives we were in 2019!

I fully understand the Rick Barnes comparisons, but Charlie Strong comparisons make no sense at all. I will admit I was like many on this board after the first 4 seasons... I thought to myself, who the hell is this guy? We were supposed to be going back to fun run and gun basketball, but instead we got a guy trying to coach Rick Barnes style of play and he knows very little about that style of basketball, so I was hoping he would be canned. Then he switched back to his style and now the team is entertaining and they are winning. I think what we are seeing is a man becoming a better and better coach before our eyes and I certainly hope he keeps improving and stays until he can quiet down all the naysayers. He has already shut me up and transformed me into a fan; hopefully, a bunch of you on this board are next. If we get the right draw, this could be an exciting dance.
