Is there a culture change afoot?

I was excited about TH's arrival, then grew to dislike him more as time passed. For the antics like the one depicted in that photo, but also for what he allowed on the field from players. I never disliked Shaka. Besides his March Madness record, he never really gave me a reason to dislike him based solely on his personal conduct.

Recently we've had a tenured LB enter the portal, with rumors of more to follow. Since Chris Beard's hiring on Friday, two highly ranked recruits have decommitted. Both Sark and Beard give all the appearances of no-nonsense guys, as do previous CDC hires Mike White and Vic Schaefer. I would love to hear the perspective of those of you who are close to the athletic department. Are we about to see an end to sledgehammer videos from the lockerrooms and flexing after giving up 30 yard passing gains? An end to one, done and off the the NBA-type players?

Any time you have a coaching change you will have a percentage of players reaccessing their position, so at this point, I would say the culture change is a natural by-product of the coaching change and would not read anything else into it. Now if the turnover is still occurring a year from now you might have a point.

Yeah, it felt like we had a culture change from Mack to Charlie, too, at first.

We definitely are entering a new era in Longhorn sports and I feel like I'm going to enjoy this. Is it a culture change? I think so as it relates to how we approach coaching. Seems like we are going more old school, get in the middle of everything hard nosed & inspirational coaching. Coaches don't need to be the players best buddies and I feel like that's the direction we are headed.

In regards to the two recruits mentioned above, they both said they were asking for a release the day Shaka took the Marquette job so it's not about Beard coming, it was Shaka leaving.

Purely and subjectively looking from the outside it appears to me CDC is more of an old school guy (albeit with a modern edge...and suit to match...on him) who is rolling back Patterson's social experiment and restoring some more traditional coaching approaches.
That is sure to change the culture.

It was silly. Now the Missouri QB had kept doing all week some stupid looking movement of pretending to holster a pistol or stretching his suspenders out or some grade school dig, and He-Man was mocking that after Texas had the upper hand in the bowl game.

Herman's supposed to be the adult in the room, and act like one. Can't imagine the greats of the sport mocking another team's players.

But yeah W/L, record against OU, and conference championships are going to be benchmark, not various tea leaves here or there.

But, but, what about the binder? Surely it has some relevance.

It's called "securing the bag"...and in addition to looking immature and silly, in true TH fashion, he wasn't even doing it right.(looked like he was tweaking his own nipples or something)
I add Sabre's quote here only to say apparently the binder didn't address such matters and so it will live in infamy ...along with how to handle 4th and 1s, when to and not to kick field goals, how to treat your fanbase and financial supporters, when to go for two, effectiveness of utilizing middle of the field in short and mid range passing game, how to treat Texas coaches, beating teams you "should" destroy, handling sensitive sociopolitical issues, importance of the tight end position, interacting with recruits and their families, situational awareness for deep passes, running outside the tackles, airplane behavior, effective press conference management, portal management, 4 man fronts, season openers, proper use of sledgehammers, and finally.... when to punt.
