I was wondering if someone would start the thread for 2022 and then thought, why not?

I then selected the 2021 season and read the first 2 posts. It's kinda like when you go back and look at diary entrees in from your teens and think, "Wow kid. Yeah, thinks looked different from that age". This "age" is almost 1 year ago and my how things have changed.

Kobe will have 3 years of eligibility with Texas?

I doubt we see Precious return; losing Celeste hurts but she looked miserable out there this year, especially early on. I'm not surprised.

Lots of names in the transfer portal and it's increasing daily. Vic will find a worthy replacement. He's a great recruiter.

Just wait until they vote on that one-time transfer rule this month, making it official...

She was not miserable, she was injured...please quit making this about the coaching change...it was NOT....
If not for Covid, she would have stayed with Texas...

I wonder what the loss of johnnie Harris means for possible commits..so happy for her, but such a big loss for Vic’s bench

Just one thing to consider in your schedule. Everyone you're listing as a sophomore and above in 2021-22 and beyond has an extra year of eligibility should Vic and they wish to take advantage.

Yeah, the combination of the covid-bonus year and instant eligibility about to be voted on makes my head hurt. Obviously, I'll wait for the dust to settle later to see what it really should be.

Does it even matter at this point? She's moving on and here's wishing her the best. I appreciate the time she was here and the awesome NCAA tournament she had, I'll be cheering her on from afar... but she's made her decision for whatever reason(s) not to continue her collegiate career at Texas. Hope she finds a better fit... she's a very good player! Things are what they are.

    Re: 2021-2022 Season

I think I am about where I was this time last year. Not enough information to form an opinion. If I had any sense, I'd go away for a couple of months and let the dust settle. But probably I'll keep right on anxiously checking message boards and news reports.

    1. Any one wondering if the coaching staff, parents, or the medical team might have a talk with Audrey Warren about continuing to play basketball?

    2. The lack of any noise of future commitments for 2022 and 2023 has me nervous

    3. Wonder if the two new transfers in, Kobe and Femme might struggle with a higher level of play? I don't know much about women Juco competition, so that's an honest question

    4. If we lose another coach to OU, then move up Blair to associate coach? Add Kayla as volunteer assistant coach?

If you could rename the Subject line as "2021-22 Season" it wouldn't seem so far away . . . :p

Ouch! We weren't even considered for the top 25. It's not surprising since we have question marks on Johnnie Harris' replacement and with the departures of Charli and Celeste. Our incoming class is talented but inexperienced. Hopefully, we'll be able to fill in the gaps with talent from the portal.

    Fuel for the fire.

Good assistants are invaluable... Great assistants like Vic's even moreso. However with college basketball, unlike football, the head coach is hands on with everything. The key is to find suitable replacements when members of your staff move onward and upward... no reason to think Vic won't do just that.

I agree. A&M stepped back a bit when Johnnie and Vic left and coach Blair was able to reload on that staff just fine

There are plenty of good, capable assistants eager to learn the way the current staff has -- and the way Vic did for that matter. Get you someone like Nneka (clears throat) or some other young rising coach and one thing you'll most likely have with them is longevity like Vic had with his current bunch. Coach Lovato surely must the opportunity that is in front of her with Harris leaving and now Jackson-Durrett probably going to OU. :hookem:

I couldn't tell if this was a sly reference. But I remember when some UT players were first introduced to their teammate Nneka, it was an elbow to their throat when she was fighting for a rebound.

My second time mentioning Nneka, as she was listed as one of the really good young coaches to watch. Her ability to develop elite level post play was noted. The "clears throat" was a nomination for her to return to The Forty as a member of our staff.

It's important for Coach Schaefer to make good hire(s). As I've stated before numerous times, I think Karen's biggest failure was hiring such inexperienced assistant coaches like Jamie Carey and Tiffany Jackson simply because they were former Longhorn players which she recruited to Texas back in the day; had they not been Texas lettermen, they'd never even have gotten a sniff.

So, here's hoping the Vic hires the most QUALIFIED candidate who is interested in filling Johnnie's vacant spot.

I didn’t even mention the coaching change.. that maybe wasnt the issue, or maybe it was. Neither you or I know. If you watch majority of her games this year she did not want to be out there. She was in fact miserable. It was quite obvious. It wasn’t a lagging injury. It was sheer unhappiness. Coaching change, family wise, whatever. I knew she would transfer 5 games in. Shooting 25-30% cointunoisuly, most of the season, looking miserable on the court while doing so. ? What do you call that, elation?
