Selection show is Sunday 4/3 at 3pm CT on ESPNU. Horns will likely receive a Top 5 seed. The field is 48 teams so the Top 16 seeds get a first round bye. With so little non-conference matches and the Big 10 and Pac-12 having so many matches canceled, it is going to be very interesting to see what the committee does with the draw.
2021 Division I Women's Volleyball Official Bracket | NCAA.com Texas gets a 4 seed with #13 Penn State and #5 Nebraska in their regional. Really disappointed that Baylor, Texas State, Rice and Texas are all in one quadrant of the bracket.
That loss to Rice, the only one all season, really hurt the Horns. 9 day bubble. It will be very interesting. Chemistry will be really important.
Why don’t they vaccinate all the players and coaches with J&J vaccine, wait 14 days, and get out of the bubble?
All the players and coaches have been vaccinated. All Texas athletes have been getting them for the past two weeks and are still doing so. Even though they are vaccinated they have to stay in the bubble because other teams have not been so lucky
Best news I’ve heard in long while. I have been harping on the football forum to get the players vaccinated, if anything to avoid more cancelled practices and the like. No one seemed to know anything regarding football. By the way, the transmission of the virus by vaccinated folks is nearly zero, but whatever. In Hawaii, if you are vaccinated but exposed to an infected individual, you don’t have to quarantine for 14 days, just daily monitored (self).
Yeah, I agree with you. I think they should be allowed to be free and not in a bubble if they have been vaccinated but the ncaa won't listen to the science for some reason. I'm sure they will have more freedom in terms of hanging with eachother in the hotel because I know basketball were not allowed to hang with eachother in rooms besides certain time slots which is kind of ridiculous to me but the tournament was pretty successful so I'm not complaining.
And the football team just began to receive vaccines this week I believe. I saw that Josh Thompson got his vaccine today so that tells me they have moved on to football as the next set of athletes to get it. I believe they were prioritizing athletes who were in season to get the vaccine first such as softball, volleyball etc..
That’s good news for softball and baseball in that players out for covid at tourney time is now improbable.
On second thought, given that it is tourney time, it would be a shame for a team to forfeit now due to covid and the teams weren’t extra cautious. However, the bubble should be terminated for the spring sports tournaments.
I agree I saw the ncaa came out with predetermined sites which is absolutely ridiculous to me. It's taking opportunity and hard work from many teams
Texas defeats Wright State 3 sets to 0. Next match 4/18 against tonight’s winner of Penn St-NC A&T match.
Today, Baylor vs. Nebraska @ 1:30. Who do we root for? After much thought and a prayer circle with myself, I'll have to go with Baylor. They have 1.5 effective stars, Nebraska has many more.
Any other sport probably Nebraska but when it comes to volleyball, Nebraska fans talk the most crap so I'm definitely rooting for Baylor in this matchup. They also talk about how weak the big 12 is so would love to see a big 12 team beat a B1G team
Haven’t had chance to watch nearly as much volleyball this spring as I would like and no trips with my daughter down to Austin to see them play but wow was today exciting especially that third set.
I thought I heard them say the Regional Finals (Sunday’s matches) would be held at an adjacent arena with many more fans allowed. I may be wrong.
