    A. That's some SWEET ninja work there being able to blame poor cop behavior on the democrats. I tip my hat to you my good sir!

    B. We agree about criminality and stupidity correlating. Mark it down.

It's so simple even an Okie should be able to figure it out.

    1. Democrats rely on union votes in big cites to win, most powerful of these are the government employee ones.
    2. In return for union support, the Democrats that run big cities (such as Minneapolis - last Republican mayor, 1957), provide large pensions, health coverage to retirees, and by making it practically impossible to fire a bad employee.
    3. This runs the gamut from the bitter old hag behind the plexiglass shield at the DMV, to the anger management issue cop. There's no special carve out for cops - all city employees have the same very high hurdle for firing.

And as bad as it for city and state employees, at the Federal level it is virtually impossible. A firing event has to approved by a Board that treats the matter as more or less a trial, with witnesses, councils, evidence rules, etc.

Why is it difficult to understand that making it practically impossible to fire bad employees leads to, uhh, having more bad employees?

    Duck,

Don't know where you live, but the police union and firemens union hate the liberal mayors of Houston and Dallas. They black officers association would likely vote for David Duke or George Wallace over the sitting mayor in Houston or Dallas.

Not sure the city employees have a union.

Update: dumbass cop mistakenly used her gun on Daunte Wright instead of her taser

Minnesota Officer Who Shot Daunte Wright Meant to Fire Taser, Chief Says

Daunte Wright was a dumbass too for trying to run from the cops. But this idiot cop should lose her job and never work in law enforcement again. Also please note this wasn't some rookie, she is listed as a "veteran" officer by the PD. $100 says her union fights her dismissal and some idiot arbitrator forces the PD to give her a reprimand instead of being fired.

Another case of a criminal getting shot due to failing to obey orders and resisting arrest. Good riddance.

So they would still vote for a Democrat?

As I understand it, the cops and fire unions hate S Turner for him trying (correctly) to reneg on the lavish and unfunded pensions and health insurance that previous mayors bought their elections with.

As for the Minn cop who had her handgun in hand when she thought it was her taser - yeah, that 160 dB blast when everyone was expecting a zzzz sound of the Taser would have woken everyone up. Tasers are generally carried in a cross draw, Doc Holiday style position, with the gun on a strong side hip carry.

But when the excitement starts, it’s not easy to reach for the right one. I mean I’ll open up kitchen drawer and see and grab the spatula when I went there for a pizza cutter. And the pizza isn’t kicking and fighting with me.

Personally, this case doesn’t bother me. Criminals resisting arrest and attempting to drive away are rather low on my lists of cares. Doesn’t mean that the cops should be allowed to do a Judge Dredd and execute the subject on the spot. But if it’s clearly an accidental shooting, from reaching for the wrong weapon, these things happen.

Interestingly, there’s a large body of case law that says cops can shoot someone attempting to jump back in their car and drive away - the concept being that the car is a deadly weapon with other officers in harms way, so deadly force is authorized.

As for the crook who got deaded , I wonder at what point did he think “this was a very bad idea”? When the 160 decibel gunshot ruptured his eardrum? When the bullet tore into him abdomen? Or maybe when he crashed into the tree?

    Glock bullet
    And brand new car
    Oak tree in my way

While the police department is quite large, and my knowledge of the membership is limited, I know of none that will vote for a Democrat for Mayor.

That said, the last good mayor Houston had was Louie Welch, who should have a statue in a prominent place for all the money he saved Houston by going to Wall Street and coming home with a AAA bond rating.

The lead cop from the Lt. Nazario traffic stop has been fired.

Virginia police officer fired after Black Army lieutenant is pepper-sprayed and handcuffed during traffic stop

"Police officers in Virginia held an Army officer at gunpoint, handcuffed him and doused him with pepper spray — all during an illegal traffic stop. Officials said Sunday that one of the officers has been fired.

Officer Joe Gutierrez was fired following the December 5 incident, which was captured on video, the town of Windsor, Virginia said in a statement Sunday, acknowledging the "unfortunate events that transpired."

Following an internal investigation, the town said that Gutierrez did not follow department policy."

I dunno. When I watched all the footage with commentary from Officer Tatum I find it hard to believe this was an illegal stop. What a joke.

I have not seen an explanation of what exactly made the stop illegal. Generally, if the police can't see your license plate, they can pull you over. I've heard about this threat, but from what I can tell, it was basically the officers accepting that Nazario was just stupid and not bad and trying to cut him a break rather then throwing him in the slammer. I didn't hear anything along the lines of, "if you tell anybody about this, we're coming after you."

I can understand the criticism of some of what they said (like that he should be scared to get out of the vehicle). However, my concern with making Nazario a hero and having a bunch of slimy politicians cozy up to him while the officers get shitcanned and made into villains is that we're basically making it ok and even commendable to be uncooperative with the police in the normal course of their duties. That's going to lead to more incidents like this and many of them leading to violence and eventually a reduction in public safety. It's going to get more dangerous for both police and private citizens.

She tased him with her Glock, ouch! Cops are trained to keep their hand gun on one side of their holster belt and their taser on the other. They are different sizes and weights. They probably operate differently too, but I've never fired a taser. Seems like a strange error to make given all the training she must have had.

Taser vs. gun: How do Brooklyn Center cops wear their weapons?

She probably could have shot and killed a white man accidentally and just gotten fired and a few years probation for manslaughter, but she accidentally killed a black guy !!!!! ..... in Minneapolis for God's sake!!!!! Good thing Minnesota abolished the death penalty or she'd burn for sure.

It's their $, but if I was making the decision, I would instead donate the $ to some Black student scholarships. Better yet, maybe fund some engineering or science programs/labs/professor chairs in some historically Black colleges.

The guy who stopped him was OK. He was reasonable and if it had only been him we would have never heard about this. He was trying to get in there to talk to the guy but was yelled back by the other guy, the guy who pepper sprayed him and who was flowing the adrenaline ("ride the lightning"). He was what brought this all down on top of them all.

As stated before, you don't get to drive to the place of your choosing when you're been lit up.

You can drive slowly to a place to pull over if there's no shoulder.

You can drive slowly to a well lit place, if the car is unmarked or otherwise not identifiable as a police car. The cops here were in clearly marked and top lighted vehicles.

LT. Man-Child failed to pull over when commanded, failed to produce required information like DL, registration, insurance, and acted like a child, demanding to know why they stopped him. It ended poorly for him that night, hot sauced, snot pouring out, and babbling like a little girl on the ground, bemoaning his state of affairs. Gotta say, you know the troops in his unit got a huge kick out of seeing him cry.

But hey, he gets to shake the hand of the Governor at a photo op. I wonder if Northam will be in blackface for the meeting: "That could have happened to me too", or will he don the Klan robes? Remember, he hung his political hat on the fact that he couldn't remember if he was Sambo or the Grant Wizard in the photo, so that was plausible deniability.

Once more, for laughs, and to show how if you're a Party Member in Good Standing, anything can be forgiven:

WRT the Brooklyn Center incident, I am curious whether the 25+ year veteran supervisor was forced back to street duty by the very losses in staff being created BY the culture of violence cultivated by the left...

I've seen a story that indicated she was a higher-up with the union and they don't often have street duty...those are usually desk riders who occasionally make an appearance in the community but aren't front-line at that juncture of the career.

We will likely never hear for sure, but I suspect that the officer in a third decade of service was likely less prepared for that incident than a rookie with six months on the street...

My opinion hasn't changed, the cop is a dead man walking, he will be found guilty because it's easier to throw him under a bus than give him justice. Think To Kill a Mockingbird in reverse.

Yeah, and even if found not guilty in this trial, the Federal Government will indict him on made up civil rights issues, doing the same double jeopardy they used on the police in the Rodney King case.

You'd have thought his lawyers would have gone for a plea of manslaughter with sentencing limits, but maybe the State wanted a big show trial to show how much they care, and pander to the mob. Would be a hoot if he was found not guilty and the city was looted, while it all could have been avoided with a plea bargain.

Don't worry though - the people would just vote for the same fools next election - last Republican mayor of Minneapolis - 1957.

I have a feeling Daunte wouldn't be enrolled in physics regardless of how many professorships were endowed. Maybe we should start with trying to stop/educate blacks from having babies born into one parent households.
