Wait, how many black friends do you have? If not enough for the internet racist experts, your thoughts are tainted.

I’m sure I’m on ignore. Isn’t it a bit racist that he assumes no one on this board is black?

When the Board meets again, I suggest we lobby Dion to give ignore option only for sponsors.

Racism does exist, and blacks are the most racist. Just keep using that racism excuse to explain the failure of the black community, instead of the reality of personal accountability. I also disagree that Obama was the first black President. He was the first half-white President. If the black part of his family was the side that raised him, he would have never sniffed the white house other than, maybe, a domestic servant.

So Mad Maxine calls for "more confrontation " and hours later the Minn National Guard is fired on.
She needs to be removed from Congress and charged

The Dems on here should come out and support her. They can also commit to never calling the police when in trouble, opening up their yards for homeless people and pledging to add 10% to their tax return for the common good.

They'll never do it. All their complaints about Trump is solely about power. They are not progressive. They are not nice people. They do not care about the Constitution. They are Liberals. When will we realize they are sick dangerous elites?

@Mr. Deez, is this part of the under utilized Duh Doctrine?

I loved the judge's rebuke of #YappieMaxie. The decision not to grant the mistrial was not a surprise as very few judges like granting them. The defense knew this but is obligated to ask anyhow since to NOT ask is ineffective assistance since they would know that the failure to enter an objection or motion to something significant is often going to be viewed on appeal as a constructive waiver of the claim.

The jury is presumed to be willing to pay attention to the original instructions given by the judge. But cases are routinely tossed for a jury's use of extraneous information- there was one just recently that was tossed by the TxCCA where the defendant was charged with evading and had claimed he didn't hear the siren. Jurors were deliberating and hear a siren something like 10-15 floors below and decide defendant was full of crap. Somehow, counsel learns about this use of extra information not in evidence and the appeal ensues...

You cannot tell me a jury in Chauvin won't be hearing the nonsense in the streets below even if they had successfully avoided all other news for the past several weeks that the trial was ongoing.

Part of me also feels that the judge may have wanted to wait and see if the jury hangs (or actually acquits), rendering moot the need for a mistrial to occur on the basis of the incitement by a sitting congresswoman.

Did Maxine Waters screw up, or did the trial judge? Maxine Waters has been a crazy woman who said dangerous things like this for 30 years. For all the criticism Marjorie Taylor Greene takes (and rightly so), Waters (and most of the CBC) is no better. I remember her yapping stupid **** like this during the LA riots. She's an idiot and a crackpot who should be an embarrassment to her party (and is an embarrassment to the sensible members of it). However, there's a reason why Waters's remarks could make a difference - the judge didn't ensure that they wouldn't, and that's his screw-up.

Why in the hell wasn't this jury fully sequestered during this trial? We've had the entire political media and activist class of this country spewing ******** and idiocy not only about the specifics of this case but about the implications and consequences of the verdict. If members of this jury turned on a TV or radio for five minutes, logged onto Facebook or Twitter, or picked up a newspaper, they've almost surely heard some ******** commentary from a media outlet saying that it's racist to acquit or that violence will justifiably come if there's an acquittal. It's precisely the kind of crap that you DON'T want a jury influenced by in rendering a verdict. I know judges don't like to sequester, and juries hate it for obvious reasons. However, if it's not warranted in this case, I can't imagine a case in which it would be. We sequestered in the OJ trial. This case justifies it every bit as much - maybe even more because our media is even worse than it was then. Activism has supplanted journalism.

You fail to recognize that people commit crimes and the police catch them. Once they are "caught" there's a duty to protect because a) they could be innocent and b) it's not the police's role to enforce any sentencing/punishment. They have failed that significantly at times. Eric Garner comes to mind. His crime was selling single cigs. I'm not saying don't arrest him. I'm saying if you arrest him you have a duty to protect him. Philando Castille. He was reaching for his wallet and got killed. Sad. The thing is there are unfortunate incidents like the 13 year old that are above board and appropriate. I hate it for the parents and the cop having to live with it. The lady drawing the gun in lieu of the taser is a horrible accident. Some of these aren't nearly as explainable.

The verdict will be in shortly for Chauvin. What's your call? I'm guessing 2nd degree manslaughter even though I think he should walk. I think he wins on appeal.

I don't know near enough to say one way or the other. I saw the pictures of his knee on the neck of a man laying face down with his hands cuffed. What is your reasoning for thinking he should walk?

Because he didn't have his knee on his neck. It was on his shoulder blade. That was established in court.

Yes, it does look like it from that angle. However, looking through Chauvin's camera it was clearly on the upper shoulder. An expert witness even testified to that.

It was also conceded by the prosecutor in opening statements.

Interesting observation about reading decision based on length of time the jury was out...remember than the OJ jury was barely out four hours. And that trial lasted A LOT longer than this one. Admittedly, the jury was sequestered for the entire trial...and despite instructions otherwise, you cannot tell me there wasn't deliberation going on when not in the courtroom...

In addition, the coroner said there was no trauma to the shoulder or neck, not even a bruise.
