I suffer from the same enthusiasm and after years of disappointment I am looking for results as well. June sounds like its going to be a good month for this.

So do I. I've generally been of the opinion that if a coach recruits several top 5 or top 10 classes, at some point those teams should finish in the top 10 consistently. IIRC our "Binder Boy" had some top classes, but never could even win the conference. Played for it once and lost. He did win 4 straight bowl games, only one of which was a NY6 but that was about it.

No offense, but I still don't understand why people get excited about making a top 5. 20% is still a small chance. When it's down to 2 is when I start thinking we might land this guy.

I think it’s more about being included in a top 5 with those other programs. The more top 5s with this caliber athlete and this coaching staff — is something to stay excited about.

Yea, I forget who said "Second place is just the first loser".

Yeah, that's me. :smile1: I've been saying "Second place is the #1 loser" for about 40 years. Although I'm not quite sure where I got that from and I'm not certain I've ever posted it here.

Come on, it's Ohio State, they haven't "sold' anything since before Woody Hayes arrived, but rather what they are GIVING away.

The usual suspects. Consistently bidding for championships and putting players into the league.
They have changed coaches without missing a beat for the last 20 years. I guess that's called a winning culture. Though they don't have as many natties as bama they are always in the top 5 , and though I've not checked, I'm guessing they have more guys in the league in the last 20 than bama does.
And yes I too am worried about them on this one.

players from these schools get in the league because they get the best players out of high school. Its not extra special coaching. And having all these good players produces a winning culture so the players are in the spotlight. Texas is headed in that direction. So I think its mostly getting top athletes rather than schools "putting them in the league"

A surprising note per IT...they're hearing Texas has surged past OU recently in the recruitment of DE/LB Derrick Brown from Texarkana Texas High, and they're in a nice position headed into official visits.

It's been a big group effort lead by multiple coaches including Sark, Kwiatkowski and Choate.

Related to the note above, IT had some cool recruiting insight this morning on how Sark's new staff is operating based on what former players and special attendees have seen at practices.

They basically said it's a constant barrage of recruiting ("it's full-on, every single second") via FaceTime/Zoom and phone calls where recruits are able to see what the team is doing and/or they're able to meet and talk to coaches while practice is live.

It's also an operation of at least five different people as opposed to a ton of the recruiting being put on a single person like Carrington.

One person in attendance at Saturday's scrimmage mentioned it was "a controlled sideshow of the main event" where staffers were non-stop dialing their phones and connecting with recruits which is very much a Saban-esque strategy.

Arkansas WR Mike Woods is in the transfer portal.
IT mentioned the other day they were monitoring a WR, other than Worthy, who may end up transferring.

I don't see him decommiting from Ohio St. unless they screw him over somehow.

Agree there. Outwardly he is all tOSU. But there is definitely some lingering interests. We'll have to watch this one play out.

If I’m Ewers or his family, when asked the question, I too would downplay any contact if it were happening. After all, he’s committed to tOSU. Why stir any controversy unless or until you’re going to change your decision. So downplay it.

My guess: The contact is happening, he is interested, and it’s only a matter of time...but probably not until the fall.

Perhaps this may be an indication that Sark is going all in for Manning in '23. Maybe Sark is telling Manning that he is not pursuing Ewers in hopes of getting Manning. Just food for thought.
But, as for me, I would go after Ewers if I thought I could get him.
