How do yall feel about Gusters?? She was a freshman but I honestly feel she was not really given the opportunity at Baylor due to who she had playing in front of her.

Absolutely want her! I mentioned her in a previous comment. She would fit right in with our young team.

I would think that SMU would be a contender for her. And again, not having a post coach...

Especially if Egbo and Smith have solidified their intentions to remain at Baylor.

Hmmm. Didn't think of that one.

For quite a while during her recruitment, Hannah Gusters really liked Texas; her grandfather played football at Texas.

Still not sure all that happened during that Duncanville / Irving MacArthur eligibility mess.

From what I hear it’s already a done deal

That pretty much says that it's probably LSU.

It very well could be LSU. But, since she played so little this season, I never got the feeling she was winning Mulkey over.

She and Sarah Andrews are/were pretty tight. With so many transfer guards (Carr, McDaniel, Owens, and now Jordan Lewis) on the Baylor roster, I would have thought Andrews would have departed before (or with) Gusters.

So, I gather it's okay for a player and coach from different universities to be in contact with each other BEFORE the player enters the portal??????

Technically it’s not but it’s not like Kim couldn’t have worked this out before she officially left Baylor. If it is LSU, I’m a bit surprised because she and Kim were supposedly “laughing about the rumors she was leaving” the Friday before she left.

They use middle people, usually affiliated with the AAU scene to do the negotiations. It’s how Kara is getting her players. Everything is legal in recruiting as long as you don’t get caught. Lol

It's not okay, it's called tampering. But everyone does it. UT football just picked up a commit who de-committed from Michigan. It was "fast" how quickly he suddenly signed with Texas. Since everyone does it, no one calls each other out on it. (except message boards)

Not sure if @BALL IS LIFE meant Gusters to LSU is a done deal, or if Smith and Egbo have solidified their commitment to remain at Baylor is a done deal. When I said I was hearing the same, it was in reference to Smith and Egbo.

Aww okay gotcha. That makes sense based on the tweets and retweets from Egbo and Smith.

Apparently she has "Do Not Contact" on her transfer portal entry. That would leave one to believe she either knows exactly where she's headed, or at least has her interest narrowed down to a select few.

brnkj, can you tell me about her game?

I've only seen Gusters play sparingly this season. I'm not familiar with her game. From the little I've seen, she looks like a big body, not athletic, similar to Erin DeGrate. I could be wrong.

From reviewing the Baylor message boards, they don't believe Gusters was going to get much playing time with the incoming freshman (Douda) and if Smith and Egbo stay at Baylor.

Here are quotes from the BU message boards. Granted they may be convincing themselves that losing Gusters isn't that big of a loss but I believe there is likely some truth in their comments.

"I am grateful that we landed Hannah but she had a long road ahead of her to develop into a big contributor. I am not diminishing her skills or effort. She had a long way to go."

"Especially with Douda coming in...not any minutes for her."

"Yep. She was a goner even with Kim here"

"I hope she's going to a school with a higher academic ranking than Baylor, because she will never be in the WNBA."

I saw Gusters in a playoff game when she was a junior at Duncanville. Plano beat them on the way to the state championship. She was good....could score a little....especially inside of 8 feet or so.....and a decent rebounder. I came away thinking that she probably wouldn’t be an impact player in college. That was before she committed to Baylor and was wide open. When Baylor took her, I thought maybe I was wrong. The duo of Andrews and Gusters at Irving McArthur was a team recruitment and I was not sure which one was more coveted. It typically takes bigs a little longer to develop in college so I hope she does good at LSU or wherever. Now if she surprised me and came to Texas, my impression of her skills goes WAY UP.

In general, posters on this board make premature and uninformed judgements based on physical attributes or high school stats with little regard to athletic ability or program fit. "If she is 6'5 she must be good." It is as if they never saw some players actually play against good competition, and in many cases I assume they haven't.

It is reassuring that we have the experts (Vic and staff) making recruiting decisions instead of us amateurs, including me.

Just to clarify for some....not taking a shot at Christians. I was raised baptist. I was taking a shot at the almighty Baylor fans whose hypocrisy is once again showing itself.
