You are correct. She will be immediately eligible to compete.

Was her only gating factor that she transferred within the conference and her old school (with newly hired coach) wouldn't give the release?

For undergraduate transfers, it's an overall conference rule, I believe.

For graduate transfers, a school can grant a release so SA doesn't have to sit out the mandatory transfer season.

Much respect to Texas tech for allowing her release. It bothers me so much when teams hold out players forcing them too miss an entire season.

I was listening to a podcast and they were talking about how Louisiana had so many transfers and how that would be interesting to see the team chemistry. I've seen so many players transfer in/out of that program. And I checked to see if Jade Gorterez stuck with them. She has and is a starter in the infield. Amazing to think she was a starter at Texas, a starter at Arizona State and now a starter at Louisiana!

ULaLa for us old-timers. I still have not heard a rational reason that ULaLA gets to be called Louisiana University and UL-Monroe doesn't.

However, being Lousiana, I am sure money was transferred under a table to get the job done.

Self-made prestige. But then, who let Texas State brand themselves "The Texas State" university? Good 'ol Southwest Teachers College, with a famous graduate (LBJ), was it's humble beginnings.

Racer I know money was passed under the table on the SWT change. North Texas had tried for years to change its name to TSU. The answer was always the same - all of the "State Universities (NTSU, SWT, SFA, etc.) would keep the "State University" name. Finally, North Texas called BS and changed to their second choice - the University of North Texas. Their first choice was Texas State University. That was denied because those in power said that Texas State University would confuse people with the other "State University" schools. Fast forward and after a legislature session or two and basically overnight SWT becomes TSU. Things that happen in the middle of the night always feature a value exchange.

I didn’t even think Elish in 2022 was even a remote possibility. Like zero for me. Danny seems to imply that some think she may come back?

I thought "undefeated" was in play...

Someone tweeted at Danny that Elish is now living in Birgmingham, AL (and not in her home state of Indiana).

I don't know how Elish opting-out of the 2021 season affects her immediate eligibility come 2021-22 if she decides to transfer somewhere else. Since she is not a first-time transfer, she would not be immediately eligible even as a grad-transfer (without obtaining a waiver). But, does opting out (for stated COVID concerns) giver her an out to play somewhere else immediately? I thought opting-out did nothing more than preserve another season of eligibility for her.

She's dating a player on the Samford (AL) softball team. That's why she moved there.

[I know that when we talk about our players dating the same sex, suddenly it's ......crickets]

I asked a player's Dad just his informal opinion why Elish hung it up. Was it team chemistry, was it COVID, was it...... wanting to spend time with her girlfriend?

He said, "I don't know. But if you think about it. She was the #1 recruit and has been carrying that pressure of being the #1 pitcher since her time at Oregon. Maybe she just had enough?" Seems reasonable to me.

I thought about Miranda alot this season. Wondered if she missed the game? I doubt it was the pressure of being #1. In fact I think she thrived on it. I hope she misses the game, this team. Maybe she would like to finished what she and her team mates started here at Texas.

Hope Trautwein is now being followed by coach Bartlett. You can also look at all her likes on twitter and for the past week, most of them have been Texas softball and tweets from players. I think it might happen

I'm an amateur when it comes to things Twitter related. But under her status, it shows:
    | saved by grace | UNT Softball #7 | ATX | Black Lives Matter |

Does that mean her current home is Austin? Like....she's moved to Austin in anticipation of the future?

I started exploring all the tweets she's liked. LOTS of recent tweets (from Texas) she's marked as liked.

She's only liked one that dealt with yet-another OU HR. No OK-State likes. IF she wants to stay in this region, OU and OK-State have the reputation as a friendly place for pitchers to land.

Found these two "likes" in her timeline:

    Nyree is Mike's daughter

She played high school at Pfllugerville Hendrickson H.S., so her family might still live in the area.

On Instagram, she's following Texas, UCLA, and OU softball accounts. Over the weekend, three Longhorns (Alyssa Popelka, Camille Corona, and JJ Smith) started following her on IG, and vice verse. If Texas can land her, that's a great start in replacing some of the pitching experience from the Elish and Molly Jacobsen departures.

I've always wondered about that. Who hints that a certain person would be nice to follow as a way of encouraging them to come over?

    Diving into her timeline:
    1. She got engaged to who I assume was her high school sweetheart (both graduated from Pflugerville)
    2. He was a lineman at Mary Hardin Baylor, graduated with a Physical Therapy degree
    3. He's somewhere(?) working on his Doctorate of PT
    4. In some photos, he's wearing a Longhorn polo shirt along with Trautwein (most recent the 2020 Alamo Bowl)
    5. So maybe....she'd like to pitch and get paid for her masters while living in Austin with her fiance?

On Instagram, Coach Mike White has started following Hope Trautwein; hope that's a good sign!

I'm hoping that it's a case of "it's not cool" to announce a transfer into a team while the team is still playing in the tournament. Of course, that would also be apply to other schools in OK.

Depends. On twitter in mid-February, a Notre Dame men's tennis player announced that he would be grad-transferring to Texas for the 2021-22 season. But, Texas did not officially announce his transfer/signing until a couple of days after their season ended this past weekend. He might have signed earlier this Spring, though, and Texas held off with their official release.

We could certainly use an upgrade at SS. Supposedly, she verbally committed to Mike White back in 2017 while he was still at Oregon.

I see this a bit different....Parker is a much improved player this year. Shes hitting near 350 this year and fielding has been better. And I have 2 amazing SS coming in that 2022 recruiting class. Lets not panic everytime someone enters portal. I want pitching depth.

I'm curious how in general does everyone feel about the transfer portal? Do you think its healthy for the schools, the athlete, the recruits, and the game (Softball, Volleyball, Basketball...etc)? I have never, in all my years of following sports, seen so much activity with athlete's desire to change school.
